About 1 Touch Light Transformer

1 Touch Light Transformer claims you will no longer fumble around it the dark if you use its product. Instead, they say all you have to do is touch any metal part of the lamp it is attached to, and the light turns on.

1 Touch is sold by Tristar Products, a New Jersey-based direct marketing company whose first success was the Ab Roller 20 years ago. They are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Although Tristar Products have had over 1000 complaints in the last 3 years, the BBB has no rating of the company because they say Tristar is “in the process of responding”.

How 1 Touch Light Transformer Works

This product seems to be the “touchy feely” version of The Clapper, which famously allowed you to “clap” lights on and off. For the 1 Touch Light Transformer to work, you first must plug the small rectangular device into an outlet and then plug the light’s power cord into the base.

They claim the light is now a 1 Touch – tap it on, tap it off. They boast it also turns any light into a 3-way bulb with different levels of intensity (try THAT with The Clapper!)

They state 1 Touch Light Transformer uses an “amazing energy transfer science” that “feels” your touch on any part of the metal, which then turns the lights on or off. The animation on the infomercial is dramatic, but fails to completely explain how it works.

They say 1 Touch is essential for the elderly with arthritis. One older woman who claims it is painful for her to turn knobs, loves the ease of using 1 Touch on lamps. Another woman, who appears to be a concerned parent, says she put One Touch in her children’s room. When they get scared in the middle of the night, she says the 1 Touch makes them feel safe.

Each 1 Touch Order includes:

  • 1 Touch Light Transformer
  • Additional One Touch (extra S & H)
  • 60 Day Money-Back Guarantee

1 Touch Pricing, Shipping, and Returns

They say 1 Touch is $14.95 plus $6.99 shipping/handing for a total of $21.94. If you’d like to double your order, you have the option of paying an additional $6.99 in fees. One Touch allows you 60 days to try their product. If you still find yourself fumbling around in the dark (or any other reason) you may return for a refund (you pay to re-ship and they won’t give you your S & H back.)

Pros

  • They say it works with one touch
  • Won’t hurt your palms (like The Clapper)
  • Good for people with arthritis

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Tristar Products have a lot of unresolved complaints and As Seen On TV Products sometimes over-promise and under-deliver
