About 21 Day Fix Extreme

Created by Autumn Calabrese, 21 Day Fix Extreme claims to take many of the workouts and nutrition details from the original version, and to make them “extreme” in order to help you get “super lean and defined in the shortest time possible.”

After spending 3 weeks in the 21 Day Fix Extreme program, Autumn claims you’ll achieve a shredded six pack, cut arms, ripped shoulders, and ultra-toned legs. In fact, Autumn claims that this is the exact program she uses when preparing for a competition or photo shoot.

In order to accomplish these results, the 21 Day Fix Extreme program contains seven 30-minute workouts spread across 2 DVDs, including:

  • Plyo Fix Extreme – Uses jumping and resistance to provide an “explosive” lower body workout.
  • Upper Fix Extreme – A no-rest upper body workout that’s claimed to alternate opposing muscle groups for a shredded chest, back, shoulders, and arms.
  • Pilates Fix Extreme – A whole-body workout performed on the floor using a resistance band.
  • Lower Fix Extreme – Resistance exercises claimed to provide stronger, leaner, and more defined glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves.
  • Cardio Fix Extreme – Elevates your heart rate (and keeps it there) using weighted cardio moves combined with traditional metabolic training.
  • Yoga Fix Extreme – Combines strength, balance, flexibility, and power.

Each workout is intended to activate different muscle groups in order to keep your body guessing, and the included meal plans are claimed to provide “simple nutrition for serious results.”

So, if you’re looking to boost your (already good) fitness and achieve a lean, shredded body, should you purchase the 21 Day Fix Extreme program? Consider the following:

Who Might Benefit Most from 21 Day Fix Extreme?

As we noted above, 21 Day Fix Extreme contains very intense workouts, and is targeted at individuals who are already in good shape, but who might want to take their workouts to the next level and achieve the “competition body” they’re after. In other words, if this is your first foray into working out, or if you’re just getting back into exercising after a long time off, you’ll almost certainly want to choose something other than 21 Day Fix Extreme.

Granted, there is a modifier for each workout contained in the program, although even the modifiers are intended for individuals with a baseline of fitness.

On top of this (as the name might imply), Autumn claims that, while 21 Day Fix Extreme can provide you with great results, you’ll need to be very motivated in order to stick with it—from both a workout and a nutrition aspect. In fact, Autumn claims that “you’ll be eating clean. No cheats, no treats, no excuses.” As such, you might need to prepare mentally before beginning.

How is 21 Day Fix Extreme Different From the Original Program?

At its most basic, when compared to the original 21 Day Fix version, 21 Day Fix Extreme is claimed to feature more intense workouts and a stricter nutrition plan. In addition, the original program is claimed to help users lose up to 15 pounds in 21 days, while the Extreme program is focused more on cutting and toning than it is weight loss.

Granted, you might still lose weight with 21 Day Fix Extreme, but this will likely be much less than with the original.

Do You Need Any Additional Equipment with 21 Day Fix Extreme?

When undergoing the 21 Day Fix Extreme program, you’ll need resistance bands and light, medium, and heavy dumbbells, as well as some kind of mat. None of these items are included with your purchase, so this can greatly add to your overall costs.

Also, you’ll eat very specific foods during 21 Day Fix Extreme, which can also add to your overall grocery expenses. Hint: To get an idea of the foods you’ll be eating while on the program, simply type the phrase “21 Day Fix Extreme meal plan” into your favorite search engine.

Are 21 Day Fix Customers Getting Ripped or Ripped Off?

For the most part, many of the online reviews for the 21 Day Fix Extreme program at the time of our research were from bloggers (most of whom are Beachbody Independent Coaches) who received advanced copies. Unsurprisingly, all of these bloggers gave 21 Day Fix Extreme glowing reviews.

However, we did locate 14 customer reviews for 21 Day Fix Extreme on Amazon, who gave the program an average rating of 3.5 stars. While some customers appeared pleased with the program and complimented its ability to provide visible results in a short amount of time, as well as its ease of use, some of the most common complaints cited lack of variety in the workouts, small container sizes, and damaged/defective DVDs.

From a company perspective, 21 Day Fix Extreme is manufactured by Beachbody, LLC based out of Santa Monica, CA, who also produces other popular workout programs such as P90X3, Brazil Butt Lift, and Focus T25. Beachbody holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (as of 3/18/15), despite having more than 270 closed complaints. Most of these appear to reference difficulty cancelling autoship supplements (more about this next) and problems processing refunds.

21 Day Fix Extreme Pricing & Refund Policy

21 Day Fix Extreme is priced at three monthly payments of $19.95 plus $12.95 S&H (other shipping options available at an additional charge), bringing your total to $72.80.

For this price, you’ll receive the 2 workout DVDs, 7 color-coded portion control containers, and a Shakeology shaker cup, as well as a quick start guide and workout calendar. On top of this, you’ll also receive the following 4 free bonus gifts:

  1. 21 Day Fix Extreme Eating Plan – All you have to do is follow the meal plans, recipes, and easy-to-make shakes to burn fat and carve muscle.
  2. Countdown to Competition – A “secret” meal plan that can help you lean out your body and make you look great.
  3. Dirty 30 Extreme Workout – Helps develop integrated strength and definition using “seven compound moves that target multiple muscle groups simultaneously.”
  4. 24/7 Online Support – Gain access to 21 Day Fix Extreme’s online program, in addition to fitness and nutrition tips and live chats with Autumn.

Important note: When checking out, you may be asked if you’d like to try out a nutritional supplement at a discounted price. If you accept this offer, you’ll likely be enrolled in an autoship program, which means you’ll continue receiving a regular supply of the supplement (generally once per month), and your credit card will be billed accordingly each time.

Like all Beachbody products, 21 Day Fix Extreme comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. In order to initiate the refund process or to cancel your autoship enrollment, you’ll need to contact customer service at 800-998-1681.

Can 21 Day Fix Extreme Give You the Results You Want?

Chopping to the Point: Overall, if you’re already in fairly decent shape, it appears that the 21 Day Fix Extreme program can probably provide you with a leaner body and more shredded muscles in just 3 weeks. However, this will only occur if you give each workout everything you have, and also closely follow the nutrition program without sneaking in any “cheats.”

With this said, 21 Day Fit Extreme is primarily about showing off your muscle definition by decreasing your body fat, not about helping you to lose weight. Because of these concerns, if you’re just getting back into fitness, and/or your primary goal is to lose weight, 21 Day Fix Extreme probably isn’t for you (instead, check out the original 21 Day Fix).
