About Action Pro White

Action Pro White is an at-home teeth whitening system that’s claimed to include the same ingredients that dentists use to provide you with whiter teeth.

Unlike other at-home teeth whitening systems though, Action Pro White claims to work over three simple steps:

  1. Soak the included mouthpiece in hot water and then place in your mouth. This will allow it to provide you with a customized fit in less than 10 minutes.
  2. Using the included syringe, insert the peroxide-based bleaching solution into the mouthpiece.
  3. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth. At this point, Action Pro White’s solution will begin reacting with your enamel (the outer layer of your teeth where stains appear), which consists of “tiny hollow, tube-like structures” that absorb the solution and lighten your teeth.

According to the company, Action Pro White is safe to use and should provide long-lasting results, although this can vary depending on your smoking habits, medication use, coffee consumption, etc.

You want to look your best, and since your smile is one of the first things that people notice about you, you always want to put your best face forward, regardless if you’re out with friends or meeting a new client for the first time. But can Action Pro White help you accomplish this, and does it provide good value for your money? Consider the following:

Are Action Pro White’s Ingredients Effective for Whitening Teeth?

The only ingredients listed on the Action Pro White website are 22% carbamide peroxide-based bleach and Xylitol. But will these work to whiten your teeth?

According to the American Dental Association, “In a water-based solution, carbamide peroxide breaks down into hydrogen peroxide and urea, with hydrogen peroxide being the active bleaching agent. Other ingredients of peroxide-containing tooth whiteners may include glycerin, carbopol, sodium hydroxide and flavoring agents.” For the most part, carbamide peroxide-based whitening products have been shown to provide at least some degree of teeth whitening, although the level of whitening that a user achieves is strongly dependent on their current level of staining, the strength of the carbamide peroxide, the length of time the whitening solution is applied, and how often it is used.

With this said, carbamide peroxide strengths tend to range between 10% and 44%, although the stronger the solution is, the more likely it is to cause gum sensitivity after use. As such, at 22%, Action Pro White appears to fall squarely in the middle.

On the other hand, Xylitol is an ingredient that tastes sweet like sugar, but doesn’t convert into acids inside the mouth that can cause tooth decay. Because of this, the Xylitol in Action Pro White won’t whiten your teeth, but may help improve their health.

However, keep in mind that this is heavily dependent on the amount of Xylitol a product contains, which is not something we’re informed about for Action Pro White.

Will Action Pro White Whiten Teeth Better Than Visiting Your Dentist?

According to the Action Pro White website, “Whether you choose to whiten your teeth with an at-home treatment, like Action Pro White, or at your dentist the science behind it is essentially the same. In fact, really the only difference is that you will pay over 85% more when you choose to whiten your teeth at a dentist.” But is this necessarily the case?

WhitenMySmileNow notes, “Dentists get the best results in our industry because they use a very high concentration of hydrogen peroxide gel, so we use what dentists use to whiten teeth but in a concentration that does not require a gum protector. Anyone that tells you that dentists use carbamide peroxide gel is lying, since no dentist uses it for in-office treatments.”

Also, because carbamide peroxide breaks down into peroxide, it is considered “weaker” than pure peroxide. To put this in perspective, “3% hydrogen peroxide is equivalent to about 10% carbamide peroxide. Dentists usually use 9%-12% Hydrogen peroxide in laser whitening which is equal to about 22-35% carbamide peroxide for at-home tray whitening.” As such, Action Pro White would be considered on the weaker end of this spectrum.

Considering these points, in addition to the fact that your dentist is a trained professional that has extensive experience whitening teeth (which can prevent weaker results due to user error), it’s normally the case that your teeth will be whitened by more shades and in less time through your dentist than through attempting it at home.

Other Trial-Based Teeth Whitening Systems

Finally, we’ve reviewed some of the most popular at-home whitening systems that seem to be flooding the market as of late, including Whitening Coach and Smile Pro Direct. And if you compare the Action Pro White website to the sites for these other products, you’ll notice that they appear very similar. This includes:

  • Nearly identical website layouts and navigation (About, Prevention, FAQs, Success Stories, etc.).
  • Same products (1-month supply, autoship enrollment, and whitening pen).
  • Different prices, but same S&H charges.
  • All are based out of Henderson, NV.

In addition, perhaps due to a typo, another product named IvoryWhite is mentioned on the Action Pro White’s Prevention page, while several customers referenced Blizzard White on the company’s Better Business Bureau page (more about this next).

The point here is that these 22% carbamide peroxide-based online teeth whitening systems are increasingly popular, so you have several from which to choose. In fact, for all intents and purposes, it appears that one company is manufacturing all of them, so they may in fact be the same—albeit rebranded—products.

Are Customers Experiencing Whiter Smiles with Action Pro White?

Action Pro White (and its related products) holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau based on 47 closed complaints (as of 3/4/15), nearly all of which reference recurring charges through the company’s autoship program (we’ll talk more about this next).

Outside of the BBB, RipoffReport had an entry for Action Pro White as well, as did ComplaintsBoard, both of which referenced free trials that weren’t really free, as well as autoship enrollment.

Action Pro White Pricing & Refund Policy

Action Pro White is available in 3 different purchasing options:

  • 1-Month Supply: $129.99 plus $10.91 S&H
  • Pro White Club: $78.41 per month, plus free shipping the first month (S&H is $10.91 every month thereafter)
  • White on the Go – A whitening “pen” that allows you to apply touchups wherever you go: $39.41 plus $10.91 S&H

Important note: If you choose the Pro White Club option, you’ll be enrolled in the company’s autoship program, which means you’ll continue receiving a fresh supply of Action Pro White once every 30 days, and your credit card will be charged $78.41 plus $10.91 S&H each time.

All Action Pro White orders come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. However, in order to be eligible for a refund, the package must be unopened and in “good, marketable condition without package blemishes.” If the product doesn’t meet these guidelines, you may be subject to a $19.60 destruction/repackaging fee.

In order to request a refund or to cancel your Pro White Club membership, you’ll need to contact customer service at 877-230-5694 for an RMA.

Will Action Pro White Provide You with a Good Value?

Chopping to the point: Considering the ingredients contained in the Action Pro White system (at least the ones we’re informed about), it’s probable that you’ll experience at least some level of teeth whitening using it.

However, considering the system’s high price, the product’s low reputation with online consumers, and the fact that similar systems can be found locally (often at lower prices), it’s our opinion that you should explore other options that might provide a better value for your money.

Scam! Do not use this company.

I signed up for a trial. I canceled within the requisite time period. Two days later they charged my account 94 dollars and said they had no record of me cancelling, nor the charge. I demanded a refund and they provided me with a slew of fake email addresses, fax numbers, you name it. Now I can't get in touch with anyone. I lost my money, don't lose yours.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Fine print scam

I ordered from Blizzard White. They took 94.13 from my bank. I was told it would be only 3.87 for shipping. A few days later I got another box with identical packaging. It was called Action Pro White. They did the same thing. Charged me $92.13.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Did not work and they keep taking money our of my account even though I canceled.

Buyer beware! Don't buy the product, they suck you in for $1.30, then you see a bill for $103.00 each month. If you don't call them within 14 days you are stuck. Read all the fine print. They will not refund any money. I did not order a club membership, I missed the fine print. Now I have to put a stop pay on this Action Pro at my bank.

If you don't want to be scammed, DO NOT USE!

I received my product and was told I have 14-days to cancel my account if I didn't want to use it anymore. But 6-days after I received it, the Action Pro White company had taken $94.31 out of my account and put my account to -$34.12. No one notified me that nearly $100 was going to be taken out of my account when I had first ordered my product and spoke with numerous representatives. I am in the process of getting all my money back with the product being returned to them, but still I think this is a scam and don't think ANYONE should give them their bank card information.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

      Sammy

Mane Chairesz was exactly correct. Big scam. Do not order! If you call to cancel you get a jerk who doesn't help and speaks in a circular experienced mumbo jumbo bull, and frustrates the hell out of you because her English is not good. Condescending attitude from a meaningless scam artist that works for a company that legally can rip you off and the Better Business Bureau doesn't do anything either. Only remedy is to get your bank involved.
