About Aero Knife

Aero Knife, a product of TeleBrands, is a 10 inch kitchen knife (six inch blade) made of stainless steel that has spaces in the blade to prevent food from sticking to it while slicing. It is sold under the As Seen on TV brand. The makers of Aero Knife claim that foods that are normally difficult to slice, like cheese, become much easier to cut. The spaces also make the knife lighter. All this together is supposed to enable the knife to cut twice as fast as a conventional kitchen knife.

The Aero Knife’s main selling point (aside from being endorsed by TV chef Ming Tsai) are the spaces in its blade. These spaces give food less surface area to stick to and also causes less friction while cutting, meaning food does not stick to the blade.

Aero Knife Features

It’s stainless steel blade allegedly retains its sharpness enough to hack up a chunk of wood but still easily slice a tomato afterward. After you’re done hacking up wood and slicing tomatoes, you can wash the Aero Knife in the dishwasher, but hand washing is recommended on the product website.

The Aero Knife website features some testimonials from people whose first names, last initials and states are given (not really a good sign of authenticity). But it also lists news shows and consumer market watch shows that it’s been positively reviewed on and links to these shows’ websites. (Actual clips of Aero Knife reviews are not directly linked to.)

A quick look around online reveals mostly negative reviews for the Aero Knife, with people complaining that food does, in fact, stick to it and that the blade is quite flimsy due to the cutouts. It also has a serrated blade, which many people complained did more sawing than cutting. One woman also pointed out that even though the Aero Knife comes with a knife sharpener, the information she received with it said not to sharpen it at home with a knife sharpener.

At least one professional chef who tested the Aero Knife gave it 1.5 stars out of a possible five, citing its flimsiness, its relative short length for a kitchen knife and the fact that it does not cut any faster than a regular knife.

Aero Knife Pricing, Shipping & Return Policies

If you order the Aero Knife from its official website, it costs $10, plus $7.99 shipping & handling for a total of $17.99. You have the option of adding a second Aero Knife and an “Edge of Glory” knife sharpener for an additional $6.99 in shipping fees, for a total of $24.98.

Telebrands will refund your purchase price, but not your shipping and handling fees, if you return the product within 30 days.

Beware: Not Following These 6 Tips Could Cost You Money on Your Next “As Seen on TV” Purchase

To return the Aero Knife, follow the return information which is shipped with each package. Send all returns to the address indicated on your packing slip/invoice.

Along with your return, you must include:

  1. Your order number and/or your complete name, address, and billing phone or email address
  2. A detailed explanation regarding your reason for returning the item(s)
  3. Information about whether you would like a refund or a replacement

Bottom Line – Should You Get the Aero Knife?

Although the Aero Knife website insinuates that the product isn’t available in stores, it actually is. Rather than take the risk of ordering through the website, if you really want the Aero Knife, it would be better to purchase it in a store and skip the shipping and handling fees. The general consensus is that for a little extra money (like for the total price of about $25 for two Aero Knives and a sharpener you’re not even supposed to use with them) you can purchase a decent kitchen knife from a department store.

    They got enough

    • Akron, OH,
    • Jul 2, 2015

The aero knife is the worst thing I have bought in years. It's sick how they can advertise this and get their money before you find out that it's cheap garbage. Go ahead, get the "edge of glory" but you cannot use it for this knife. It won't cut chicken easily like my $7 kitchen knife does and even has a problem with onion. What a rip off. Someone please report them to the BBB.

    Aeroknife is a huge disappointment

    • Vancouver, WA ,

I bought the Aero Knife because Ming Tsai was advertising it and I trusted him. Big mistake. These knives are horrible. They barely cut and as someone else said, you really have to saw with them. They work so badly that I think they are dangerous and I am going to throw mine away. They tricked me into thinking that it was going to be a non-serrated knife by adding that they were including a knife sharpener. Then you see that they are serrated and of course you can't sharpen them and then they even tell you not to sharpen them. You can barely cut bread with them. Loser knives. Don't buy them.

    What a ripoff.

    • Pittsburg, PA,

I bought the Aero Knife, one for home and one for my second home. And guess what? I got one Aero Knife and one that dose not have the holes in it. You guessed it - everything sticks to the knife that doesn't have the holes. They advertise two Aero Knives for the price of one, but send just one. My advice is not to buy this thing in the first place. Please put on alert.

    Worth half price

I bought an Aero Knife for half-price at a drugstore, and am using it to cut up chicken for my dogs who eat raw food. The two things I immediately didn't like were that it's not supposed to go in the dishwasher, and not used to cut bones. The knife is very sharp, but the holes in it and the serrated blade catch constantly on the chicken and I have to keep stopping and cleaning it. I think I'll go back to using my old knives on the chicken and save this for cutting up vegetables, which of course my old knives work just fine for. Glad I didn't pay full price for it.

    Don't buy!

    • Clark County, WA,
    • Jul 16, 2014

The worst junk knife have ever that I've seen in my 45 years of cooking experience. Will never ever watch the Ming Tsai show any more.

Bought 2 knives for $1 from a second hand store 25 years ago and they are still the best. Just go to the Good Will and find a good knife for a buck or two.

    Good only to cut cheese

    • Portland, OR,
    • Jun 25, 2014

Too light - requires more hand pressure to cut. Too much surface opening creates frictions - hard to cut fruits like pineapple, meat, etc. Hard to clean too.
