About Amish Secret

Amish Secret claims to be a handmade formula inspired by the Amish that brings wood furniture back to life. They tout that high-gloss finishes stay bright, matte finishes stay streak-free, and it will keep it dust-free longer.

Amish Secret is another furniture product from Telebrands in the “Amish formula” tradition; recently, they introduced Olde Amish, and then quickly took down the website. Amish Formula appears to be an attempt to re-brand Olde Amish. (Telebrands is the 30-year-old marketing company that invented the “As Seen On TV” logo.)

How Amish Secret Works

Simialr to Dutch Glow, Amish Secret claims they developed the formula using “age-old practices” to “honor” the fine craftsmanship of the Amish heritage. (This is different from Olde Amish, which they said was a 100-year-old product created by the Amish people; perhaps that’s why they had to take it down.)

They don’t list the ingredients of Amish Secret but they boast its formula will clean, protect, and restore shine to any old wood with the very first use. To use Amish Secret, apply to the piece of wood furniture you’d like looking beautiful and wipe with a cloth.

Amish Secret says its formula will go into surface cracks and restore the wood’s original luster. They boast that it will even cut through grease and wax and reveal its natural surface in seconds. They say it works on any wood finish, even painted wood, and will keep it dust-free longer. In the infomercial, they wipe a section of a headboard with Amish Secret, then sprinkle the entire unit with dust and grime – the area where the product has been applied stays free of buildup.

They claim Amish Secret can be used on cherry, oak, maple, hardwoods, and even exotic woods. They say it works on cabinets, fine furniture, antiques, and hardwood flooring. They tout it can get rid of water rings and prevent new ones in one easy step. They claim, unlike regular wood polishes, it shines with no oily residue.

An unnamed spokesman (who somewhat resembles Jack Donaghy from “30 Rock”) claims to recommend only Amish Secret to his furniture customers.

Each Amish Secret order includes:

  • 12 oz bottle Amish Secret Handmade Wood Polish with spray nozzle
  • 2nd bottle with floor nozzle (extra S & H)
  • Amish Secret Leather Furniture Repair Markers (extra S & H)

Amish Secret Pricing, Shipping, and Returns

Amish Secret can be yours for $10 plus $7.99 S & H for a total of $17.99. If you’d like to double your order, get a floor nozzle and set of colored markers to repair furniture scratches, pay an additional $7.99 S & H fee. All Telebrands products come with a 30-day money back guarantee, minus S & H. However, they do not pay for you to ship it back and only accept returns on consumable merchandise that is unused. In addition, you must provide a “detailed explanation” why you didn’t like Amish Secret or they could reject your request.

Bottom Line: Is Amish Secret a Scam?

Although it claims to be a secret, this Amish-esque formula has been around for many years with different names, as mentioned above. No matter what it’s called, these polishes rarely seem to live up to the hype. We recommend buying with caution at your local Wal-Mart or Walgreens.

Another interesting thing we noticed is that during the commercial, the furniture salesman states: "When I sell furniture, I only recommend Amish Secret to my customers...". This is the same guy from the Olde Amish spot who said the exact same thing, except changing it to Amish Secret. That to us is the sign of a cheap marketing gimmick.

    Works great

Bought Amish Secret at Walgreens because we get a lot of dust and wanted to see if it really helped slow the accumulation after dusting with it. Yes it does but then I started using it on other things such as white painted kitchen cabinets, it works fantastic. It gets all the grease off and food splatters. I even used it on my painted walls to get off some cherry juice splatters and it worked like a charm and didn't remove any paint.

I was desperate to clean fingerprints off my stainless steel fridge and keep them off for a while, tried everything and even professional stainless steel cleaner that we use in our business which didn't work as well as this. I love this stuff. If you use it on wood flooring it does make it slick so be careful. I don't use it on my floors for that reason.

I'm not sure why people don't like it, I think they are forgetting to shake it before they use it. you really need to give it a shake every once in a while.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    best stuff ever used!

    • Pensacola, FL,
    • May 1, 2016

This stuff Amish Secret is the best ever, unlike the other stuff Amish milk, which is crappy. I used it on my kitchen cabinets, and didn't clean them before. Now, they are new and really didn't need a cleaning. They shine big time! As a matter of fact, I'm using it on my bedroom furniture NOW. I don't usually do this kind of stuff but I JUST wanted to give a shout out, this stuff is better than wheat bread.

Go and make sure you buy Amish Secret and you'll be happy. Now I have to find where to buy it again.

    Very disappointed

Okay, I have to admit that I allowed myself to buy into the hype. The commercial came on and I looked over at my 1930's China Cabinet and Buffet and took it as a sign. I went to Walgreen's and excitedly bought it and couldn't wait to restore the past and bring it back to life. The sprayer didn't work, so I improvised and got to work. I was anxiously awaiting that "magical moment" that never came. It left this film on the wood that I couldn't just buff out. Went back to my go to Vinegar and Water cleaner then lemon oil. Oh well, glad I only paid $9.99.

    Great on Real Wood.

I use this in my business and it works great on real wood. It does not work on laminates. Many people think because a piece of furniture is listed as wood, that it is solid wood. Unless you get under that table, chair or look inside that cabinet, you won't know the difference. Most cheaper furniture is laminate on pressboard.

This product shines, polishes and does not leave fingerprints like Pledge does. I use it on solid wood. I bought my first bottle at Rite Aid and I was hooked! I wish I could post a photo.

    Amish Secret

    • Pennsylvania,
    • Nov 25, 2015

Bought this to remove white heat stains from a table and it does not work as advertised! I tried it several times and it doesn't even lighten the stains. It is truly a rip off. I would not recommend it and even as a polish it is not great!

Amish Secret put to the test

    • Indianapolis, INA,
    • Aug 14, 2015

I ordered this product with much trepidation. After moving twice in three years, I finally had the time to give my china cabinet a MUCH needed cleaning. I had other brands of cleaner/polish but wanted to try Amish Secret and put its claims to test. My experience greatly surpassed all claims made by the commercials!

Scammers. You won't get the deal, one bottle only.

    • DeWitt, IA,
    • Aug 6, 2015

Get this and get that if your order. Yea right. No extra bottle and no filler pens just as others have said. Shipping is the cheapest they could possibly get and super slow. What a joke and they get away with it. Who knows what is in the bottle, it's anyone's guess. It takes them 3-5 weeks to ship your package out because they are so backlogged with all the suckers like me who jumped on the TV info-commercial Crap Rap.

Two bottles for the price of 1 and all these filler pens. Ha! Another big fish took the line. Run. Do not get suckered.

Thanks for the honest assessment of this product. I have fount that any product on TV or "as seen on TV" is a TOTAL rip off.

      Edith

O.K., I'm waiting on the furniture markers and when I called they credited me 5 dollars for the inconvenience and will ship the markers.

I bought 3 bottles, absolutely no complaints from me and I'm putting in another order shortly. YES, the shipping takes a long time.

    Garbage Polish

    • Jermyn, PA,
    • Aug 4, 2015

I was sucked in by the TV spot, looked to good to be true, and it is the worst $17 I ever spent. How can a product do nothing, no difference at all. Shame on them.

    Great Product

    • Saint George, UT,
    • Jul 18, 2015

I bought my original bottle of Amish Secret form PCH, but would never do it again. I found it at Bed, Bath & Beyond for nearly half price of what I paid PCH. The product itself is wonderful. I think the people who have used it, and are not happy with it, are thinking that you shouldn't have to use any elbow-grease with this product. I removed water spots from my Mother-in-Law's 1930's bedroom set in which I had (over many years) tried almost everything under the sun, short of sanding down and refinishing the thing. The spot removal took me about 15 minutes of rubbing with the Amish Secret and it was gone. I was elated. I've used it on my dining room set and buffet, and several tables. It's done a great job in making the furniture look great, and the dust doesn't stick to the non-greasy surface. I love it. You do have to exert a little pressure and rub it into the surface, you can't spray it on and wipe it off and make it work well. Nothing good in life is ever effort free. It works much better than any cleaner, wax, or polish that I've ever tried before and I've used a lot. It has my five stars.

    Love Amish Secret

    • Oklahoma City, OK,
    • Jul 9, 2015

I'm so happy with Amish Secret. My furniture is so shiny and not oily at all. My house is very dusty and the dust starts to show the day after dusting and so far, no dust. I dusted three days ago. Also, I used it on my glass table tops too. All I can say is, wow. The over spray did make my wood floors slippery so next time I will spray closer to avoid the over spray. I ordered this through PCH and most of the stuff I've ordered through them is crap and I was apprehensive about ordering this but I am very happy with the results. I would like to know the ingredients though.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am really impressed with this product. It restored the wood grain in all of my oak furniture. Easy to use, cleans well.
