About Apidren

Losing weight is tough, but Apidren, an all-natural weight loss formula, claims to use a blend of 6 clinically proven ingredients to help give you the results you crave, while decreasing your waist size. The company also mentions that you’ll increase your energy, decrease your cravings for food, and “take control of your weight loss.”

Considering this, when combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise, USA-made Apidren promises to help you become a “healthier, happier, better you!”

Hold on one second. In our opinion, whenever a supplements manufacturer like Apidren starts tossing around big claims, it’s time to put on the thinking cap and figure whether they’re based on hype or facts. That’s exactly what we’ll accomplish here.

Specifically, we’ll help you discover how Apidren claims to work, whether or not its ingredients are clinically substantiated, and whether or not it’s worth the price. Let’s begin with weight loss woes.

What Causes Weight Gain? Why Is It So Difficult to Lose?

Asking, “Why do we gain weight” is a broad question; kind of like asking, “Why do we get skin rashes?” In other words, there can be hundreds of different causes, from consuming too many calories and medications, to lack of sleep and stress. Given this, instead of addressing how, we’ll address the why here.

At its most basic—regardless of the cause—weight gain is caused by retaining more calories than you expend. Now, your body is built to ensure you always have energy when you need it, so these extra calories don’t go to waste. Instead, they’re stored as fat.

If this calorie surplus continues long enough, the number and size of your fat cells will continue to grow, until it pushes against the skin and creates the dreaded “flab.”

The problem is that it takes a whole lot of work to get rid of this excess fat. In fact, one pound of fat is equal to 3,500 calories—which means that if you reduce your intake by 500 calories per day (25% of the average daily diet), it’ll take you a week just to shed a single pound!

Add to this that when you gain weight, your body creates additional fat cells to store all the extra energy. However, these fat cells only shrink in size when you lose the weight, and simply have to “re-fill” to begin packing on the pounds again. In other words, unless you get liposuction, these cells are here to stay.

This is why it’s so easy to quickly regain weight that months (or years) to lose. Will Apidren’s ingredients make your weight loss battle any easier, though?

What Kinds of Results Can You Expect from Apidren’s Ingredients?

According to the supplement label listed on Apidren’s website, it only contains two ingredients: Sphaeranthus Indicus extract & Garcinia Mangostana extract. Both of which are included in a 400mg proprietary blend known as CardiaSlim.

Important note: According to Apidren’s description on Amazon (more about this shortly), it contains “6 clinically proven ingredients,” plus caffeine. The fact that the company didn’t match their marketing with their labeling is a big red flag, in our opinion.

The problem is that, while sphaeranthus indicus has been used for centuries in traditional medicine, there is little-to-no double blind, peer reviewed clinical evidence showing that it can provide any benefits—weight loss or otherwise—in humans. Much of the same holds true for mangosteen.

What about CardiaSlim? This InterHealth Nutraceuticals product claims to have undergone “randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies” showing that “people taking CardiaSlim® had healthier cholesterol and BMI levels compared to those taking placebo, when combined with healthy diet and exercise.” Here is a link to their supporting study.

It’s important to note that this is the only evidence provided by the manufacturer, which only involved 60 participants; a very small sample size by any definition. As such, we’d recommend using a bit of precaution if you think you’ll experience the same thing in the real world.

Will Apidren Cause Any Side Effects?

Apidren’s ingredients likely won’t cause anything worse than mild digestive upset, if anything at all. However, it’s important to recognize that both sphaeranthus and mangosteen are relatively new to the medical world, so their dosing, possible side effects, and long-term safety are not well understood.

How Much Does Apidren Cost?

Apidren is sold in the following quantities:

  • 1 Bottle (30-day supply): $49.95
  • 2 Bottles: $79.95
  • 3 Bottles: $109.95

If you purchase 2 or more bottles, your order will include free shipping. Note: On Apidren’s home page, it was indicated that you’ll also receive a free bottle of Apidren 72 Cleanse when purchasing 2 or more bottles, although this wasn’t listed on the ordering page when we attempted to check out.

Regardless of the number you order, Apidren comes with a 90-day money back guarantee, less S&H charges. In order to request one, customer service can be reached at 866-917-0541 or support@apidren.com.

Given its clinically unsubstantiated ingredients and price, what are customers saying about Apidren?

Is Apidren Helping Customers Lose Weight?

There were a total of 67 Apidren customer reviews on Amazon at the time of our research, who gave the supplement an average rating of 2.7 stars (read: be wary). What’d they say?

Overall, like most supplements, the most common complaints (40% of reviews were 1 star) appeared to revolve around failure to lose weight or shrink waist size, even among those who watched what they ate and exercised regularly. One reviewer also claimed they felt like they were on “crack cocaine,” which could indicate the supplement contains stimulants—likely the caffeine we mentioned in the ingredients section.

On the other hand, those who left positive reviews claimed that Apidren helped suppress their appetite and lose a meaningful amount of weight. Outside of this, we didn’t come across anything other than fake affiliate reviews for Apidren.

From a company perspective, Apidren is manufactured by Advantage Nutraceuticals, LLC based out of Provo, UT (although they’re listed as NutriPharm on Amazon). It appears the FDA sent Advantage Nutraceuticals a warning letter in 2005 stating that several other their products violated the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

Advantage wasn’t listed with the Better Business Bureau (as of 6/22/16), but NutriPharm was, who had an F rating, despite only having six closed complaints. Most of these referenced unwanted additions to orders, difficulty obtaining refunds, and long shipping times. The company didn’t respond to a single one of these complaints.

Should You Take a Chance on Apidren?

Admittedly, any purchase you make is technically “taking a chance,” as you’re hoping the product or service lives up to your expectations.

However, when it comes to weight loss supplements like Apidren, we think there are some red flags that you might be taking an even greater chance with your money. This includes their clinically unsubstantiated ingredients (whether on their own or as part of the CardiaSlim proprietary blend), the moderately high price, the supplement’s lower-end online customer feedback, as well as the manufacturer’s less-than-stellar reputation.

Instead, it’s important to understand that—while it will certainly take a lot of hard work on your part—the only tried-and-true method of losing weight and keeping it off is by eating a sensible diet and exercising regularly. But remember: you can start your weight loss journey simply by walking; and speaking with your doctor, of course!
