It’s Been 3 Weeks—Have Our Focus T25 Participants Changed Their Minds?

The last time we reported, our participants had just finished Week 6 of their Focus T25 challenge, only to be frustrated over their workouts and overall progress. The pace had picked up, modified versions were available for fewer workouts, and they just weren’t experiencing the level of weight loss that they expected at the beginning.

Now that another three weeks have passed, do our participants now have a different perspective, or have things continued to go downhill? Let’s find what they had to say.

Test Subject #1

How are the routines? Do you find them easier now? If so, do you feel you've mastered them?
They’re still not a whole lot easier for me to do. Maybe a little, but I still struggle to keep up.

Can you do the regular Focus T25 routines yet, or are you still doing the modified versions?
I still do the modified workouts, especially over the past 5 weeks, because the moves change too fast for me. However, I can't always do the modified version, because sometimes there isn’t one available.

Were you able to stick with a sensible diet and maintain healthy eating habits during the past three weeks? Why or why not?
Yes, I’ve stuck to a strict diet.

How much weight did you lose over the past three weeks?
I lost 3 pounds in the past 2 weeks.

How much total weight have you lost so far?
5 pounds.

Have you experienced any other noticeable results?
I feel stronger and a little thinner.

Now that you’ve been on the Focus T25 program for nine weeks, do you feel like you made progress?
In terms of progress, I honestly feel the same.

Are you satisfied with what you’ve been able to accomplish so far?
I’m really happy that I stuck to a workout program for so long. But if I’m being honest, I’ve had better weight loss results just using the treadmill. Overall, I do feel stronger, but strength isn’t important to me. I just want to lose weight.

After nine weeks of Focus T25, what would you say has been the main benefit?
I learned that I really can stick to working out everyday, which is probably the biggest benefit. I’m also happy that I did lose some weight—however little—during the weeks where I stuck to a strict diet.

Ultimately, I’ve found that if you commit to a strict diet and to working out 25 minutes per day, 6 days per week, then this is the program for you. But if you think that all you have to do is work out and shed a few pounds, then you’ll probably be disappointed.

Test Subject #2

How are the routines? Do you find them easier now? If so, do you feel you've mastered them?
I don’t think that I’ll ever catch be able to catch up to the main routines, because they’re so fast and different at the same time.

Can you do the regular routines yet, or are you still doing the modified versions?
I can do most of the regular routines, but not as fast as the people on-screen. For abs, however, I only do modified.

Were you able to stick with a sensible diet and maintain healthy eating habits during the past three weeks? Why or why not?
Yes, most days I stick to a sensible diet, though I might take one day each week to eat more freely.

How much weight did you lose over the past three weeks?
I haven't lost any weight, but I think I gained muscle, because I weigh 4 pounds more now.

How much total weight have you lost so far?
None. I’ve gained weight according to the scale...which is very depressing for a girl who is trying to get slim!

Have you experienced any other noticeable results?
Yes, I feel like I’m shapelier.

Now that you’ve been on the Focus T25 program for nine weeks, do you feel like you made progress?
In terms of discipline, yes—but I didn't get the results I expected. In all honesty, I truly I thought I would look like the girls that work out.

Are you satisfied with what you’ve been able to accomplish so far?
Not really, because I gained weight. I expected to get slim or at least lose some weight, but instead I just gained some muscle.

After nine weeks of Focus T25, what would you say has been the main benefit?
The fact that I’ve had to keep working out every day, so now I feel like I need to keep that momentum going.

Focus T25 Weeks 7, 8, & 9: Not Good, but Not All Bad Either

As we mentioned in the first section above, Week 6 of our T25 challenge seemed to be a “cresting” of sorts, since this was when our participants’ experiences started going south. They began to recognize that the program may not provide them with the weight loss benefits they were originally expecting, and that Focus T25 seems to be better suited for strength and conditioning than is for weight loss.

It hasn’t been all bad though. In fact, quite the opposite. Participant 1 is proud to have stuck with the entire program, and Participant 2 is also satisfied with the discipline she’s displayed by making it this far. After all, the path to fitness is 90% mental, and perhaps the T25 program has helped them both take a big step toward it.

Be sure to check out Week 10, where we’ll wrap up our Focus T25 challenge, get some insightful perspectives from our participants, and help you decide whether or not the program’s right for you!
