About Bambillo Pillow

Manufactured by Tristar Products based out of Fairfield, NJ, the Bambillo Memory Foam Pillow claims to be an 8-in-1 pillow that is fully adjustable and supports any shape, size, and natural sleeping position, including side, stomach, and back.

In order to accomplish this, the Bambillo Pillow claims to feature a shredded memory foam filler that supports the natural alignment of your neck and shoulders, surrounded by a memory foam shell. On the outside, the Bambillo Memory Pillow claims to include a pillowcase containing viscose made from bamboo, which is naturally breathable and can help you remain cool and comfortable throughout the night.

Because the company claims that the Bambillo Pillow can be shaped, fluffed, and folded in 8 different ways, creating essentially any shape you want, it “behaves like it was custom-made just for you.” But is this really the case? Let’s find out.

8-in-1 Adjustability

First, keep in mind that, although pillows can range greatly in quality, there are ultimately only so many ways companies can market them, which can lead to some confusing claims.

In the instance of the Bambillo Pillow, the manufacturer claims that it adjusts 8 different ways, but doesn’t let us know what these 8 ways are. But when you think about it, by slightly changing the shape, there are almost infinite number of ways that any pillow can be adjusted, not just the Bambillo. With this said, there may not be much more than marketing hype behind its 8-in-1 claim.

Does Memory Foam Improve Sleep?

Regardless of adjustable the Bambillo Pillow may be, does the memory foam it contain actually improve sleep?

As it turns out, this question may be more difficult to answer than it initially seems. This is because, according to an article on WebMD, “some sleep technology, such as memory foam, is relatively new, so it hasn't been well studied. But perhaps one of the more difficult stumbling blocks to testing the health benefits of mattresses such as memory foam is the subjective nature of sleep. It is simply difficult to measure.”

In other words, because what one person considers the epitome of comfort, another might find intolerable, it’s difficult to qualitatively state that memory foam mattresses or pillows will provide you with a better night’s sleep. However, a brief internet search will return thousands of consumers who were pleased with their memory foam purchases.

About Shredded Memory Foam

Next, remember that for the most part, shredded memory foam does not offer many of the orthopedic benefits provided by whole memory foam, and will not retain its shape as well. Granted, whole memory foam pillows will typically be priced much higher than the Bambillo Pillow, but the reality is that they’ll be much more supportive and will hold their shape longer.

On top of this, memory foam has a reputation for holding heat, although the Bambillo Pillow’s bamboo viscose cover may help disperse some of this better than a traditional cotton cover.

Comfort Does Not Necessarily Equal Alignment

Whether or not the Bambillo Pillow is actually adjustable 8 ways, or if the shredded memory foam it contains provides any orthopedic benefits, keep in mind that your neck and spine won’t automatically be put into alignment when you’re using it. And, just like with any other pillow, we tend to move around in our sleep, which could move us out of alignment during the night, even if we fell asleep in alignment. In fact, depending on your personal preferences, naturally aligned positions may not even be comfortable for you.

The Bowling Ball Analogy

With all of this said, the short demonstration featured in the Bambillo Memory Foam Pillow commercial shows a bowling ball being dropped onto the pillow, which has an egg sitting underneath. After dropping the bowling ball onto the pillow, the egg is removed and shown to be undamaged.

While this is pretty cool, keep in mind that this test only measures blunt force. And unless you’re in the habit of repeatedly slamming your head against your pillow throughout the night, this demonstration doesn’t necessarily mean that the Bambillo Pillow provides any additional benefits.

Similar Pillows Abound

Finally, if you enter the phrase “shredded memory foam” into your favorite search engine, you’ll find dozens of pillows similar to Bambillo from a wide variety of manufacturers, although many (like the Miracle Bamboo Pillow) come at a higher price. However, this means that you have numerous options to choose from, so it’s important that you research the product before making your purchase.

Bambillo Memory Foam Pillow Pricing & Refund Policy

One Bambillo Memory Foam Pillow is priced at $29.99 plus $7.99 S&H, with a mandatory second pillow for an additional $7.99 S&H. This means your final total will come to $45.97.

The Bambillo Pillow comes with a 60-day warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, less S&H charges, but does not cover normal wear and tear. We had to contact customer service to find out about the product’s refund policy, and learned that it is for a period of 60 days, less S&H charges, which begins from the date your pillow is received.

In order to request a refund or file a warranty claim, you’ll need to contact customer service at 973-287-5153.

Bottom Line: Is the Bambillo Pillow Worth the Money?

With a variety of shredded memory foam pillows available through local retailers, you might want to shop around a bit before placing your Bambillo Pillow order. This way, you won’t have to lose out on shipping and handling charges should you be dissatisfied.

    What a scam

    • Condobolin, New South Wales, Australia,
    • Jun 13, 2016

We purchased the Bambillo Pillow as a special, buy 1 get 4 free. It was a scam as far as I am concerned. The pillow does not keep its shape. I am waking up with headaches and a stiff neck, when your ad states that this pillow will fix my complaints. I have swapped the pillows, old for new, still the same. I am a pensioner as is my wife. It is too late to send them back as the trial period has expired. To put it bluntly, it's a good way to scam pensioners out of their money. Over $200 we paid out. What a load of BS.

    Best pillow ever

    • Ballina, Australia,
    • Apr 13, 2016

Was wary of claims but saw it for sale in a store in NZ and decided to give it a go. Seriously comfortable and as they say adjustable. Relocated to Australia and (begrudgingly) gave it to my son who sleeps 100% better than he previously did.

I'm on the lookout for a shop to purchase a new one. I'm in Australia now and sleeping (or rather not sleeping) on a sad excuse for a pillow.

My only gripe is I only want one, not "purchase 1 and get 3 free" as the TV offer. Give this a try. 5+ from me.

    Love It

    • Melbourne, Australia,
    • Feb 9, 2016

Love this Bambillo Pillow. Have finally had a great night's sleep. Was nearly fooled by the fake one, Bamboo pillow which they sell at shopping centers. Bamboo one is lumpy and hard as a rock. Don't know if you can buy online. Have bought the Bambillo for family and friends.

    Don't buy this

    • New Zealand,
    • Dec 16, 2015

I bought two of these pillows. I loved it at first but after about 3 weeks the pillow lost its support and I started waking up with a very sore neck, which I never had previously. I then moved onto the second pillow. Same thing happened. I would advise against buying these. I have wasted $100.

    Junk inside the pillow.

    • Ashmore, Queensland,
    • Dec 8, 2015

Opened the pillow up and found all sorts of crap inside, such as plastic cardboard, all types of foam that appeared to have come from shredded old mattresses, etc. Smelled bad and had glue and small bits of timber. In my opinion they are crap and the people promoting these pillows should look inside them. They may not want to sell them. Beware. 8 pillows in one - what a joke. Would not recommend.

    A total scam

    • Melbourne, Victoria, Australia,
    • Nov 13, 2015

First, Bambillo, the name makes you think the pillow is Bamboo. It is not, read the label and just 40% of the pillowcase, yes the pillowcase, is bamboo.

The pillow itself is just lumpy filling. It does not adjust to your neck and it becomes hard as a rock in the night.

As far as the Buy One Get One Free offer, well that's not true either. We thought we'd get four on that basis and ended up paying for all four.

No, absolutely not recommended, and yet they keep saying the same thing on TV. It's not bamboo.

    Crap

    • Tauranga NZ,
    • Sep 29, 2015

I got the Bambillo free with something else I bought from TV shop. Tried it for a week and found it gave me a sore neck and does not stay in the shapes it claims to. I gave it to my son who didn't like it either and uses it to sit on while playing his Xbox. I'm back using the My Pillow which I bought a few years ago and is much better.

    Bunch of thieving bastards

    • New Zealand ,
    • Sep 27, 2015

Placed an order at a home expo. I paid for goods. Six months down the line, nothing showed up, calls either go unanswered or I get told they will look into it and get back to me. No refund nor any goods show up. Bunch of thieves. Don't buy.

    Con job

    • Auckland, New Zealand,
    • Sep 22, 2015

After seeing the promotion for Bambillos, we decided to take the month trial for $14.95 with the "buy one and get 3 FREE". It turned out it was a con job. The cost is $179 plus handling fees, no free pillows. This type of advertising should be banned. My wife likes the pillow however although the smell disturbs me.

    Bambillo Pillow

We were pleased with our pillows but not the price through the TV shop. You can buy these pillows elsewhere for 39.90 each, so why are they sold for the 3 for 1 price of $150? I would say this is false advertising. Come on TV shop stop ripping people off. Will not be buying through them again.
