Made of dynamic, lightweight, and breathable comfort-flex fabric, BeQuiet is an anti-snoring chinstrap for men and women that’s claimed to bring your jaw forward, keep your mouth closed, and promote better breathing. And because BeQuiet may also help your loved ones sleep better at night, the manufacturer claims it can increase intimacy, promote family harmony, and help you develop a healthy lifestyle.
BeQuiet features a unique v-shape design, with one strap that goes behind your head and another resting on top, which means that the area over your chin acts as a fulcrum to pull your mouth closed and to provide a snug, effective fit.
According to the manufacturer, BeQuiet’s design also means that you won’t have to worry about straps or snaps that can dig into your face, which can help keep you comfortable all night long. In fact, BeQuiet is claimed to be so comfortable that you won’t even know it’s there.
Maybe you’re reading this because your family is fed up with your loud snoring. Maybe your doctor recently told you about some of the health consequences associated with snoring. Whatever the reason you’re here though, you want know if BeQuiet can really help you put a stop to it. And it might, but consider the following:
Are Anti-Snoring Chinstraps Recommended by Doctors?
Ultimately, your physician is going to recommend whatever works best to prevent your snoring, although finding an effective solution is a very individualized process, so anti-snoring chinstraps like BeQuiet will work better for some patients than others. Because BeQuiet simply closes the mouth and pulls the chin forward, if you snore through the mouth (versus the nose), then it may be a viable option.
Who Should Not Use Anti-Snoring Chinstraps Like BeQuiet?
However, there are some instances where an anti-snoring chinstrap like BeQuiet may not be an ideal solution. In fact, if you suffer from sleep apnea and use a chinstrap, it could actually be harmful to your health since you won’t be taking in enough oxygen. With this in mind, if you’re suffering from a stuffed up nose due to an infection or allergies, you also won’t be able to use BeQuiet until you recover and can once again breathe fully through your nose.
In addition, according to Snore.com, anti-snoring chinstraps have a tendency to shift out of place, especially if you move a lot when sleeping. So if you’re an especially wild sleeper, BeQuiet may not be effective.
Other Anti-Snoring Chinstraps & Options
Along with mouthpieces, such as those from PureSleep and ZQuiet, chinstraps are among the oldest forms of anti-snoring products, so you’ll find hundreds of different designs available from numerous manufacturers, some of which might work better than BeQuiet (remember, finding the solution to your snoring is a very individualized process). Because of this, try searching online for “anti-snoring chinstraps” before placing your BeQuiet order.
Also, remember that there are a wide variety of methods you can use to stop snoring, including changing your sleep position, losing weight, avoiding alcohol use, and opening nasal passages (such as with Breathe Active).
Prepare to Throw Vanity Out the Window
Let’s be honest; you’re not going to look very cool when wearing BeQuiet, or any other anti-snoring chinstrap for that matter. But when it comes down to it, you and your partner just want to get a good night’s sleep without listening to your snorting and snuffling, so vanity will have to take a back seat for now.
With this said though, unlike some other adjustable chinstraps out there, BeQuiet seems to be a “one size fits all” snoring solution, so it can fit very differently between patients depending on the size of their head and the shape of their face.
BeQuiet’s Arbitration Agreement
Finally, it’s important to note that you’ll be submitting to an arbitration agreement when placing your BeQuiet order, which means that you’re waiving your rights to a jury trial, or to becoming part of a class action lawsuit in the event your incur some kind of injury or other damages.
Why Aren’t Customers Talking About BeQuiet?
Although BeQuiet was a new product without online customer reviews at the time of our research, we learned that the anti-snoring chinstrap is manufactured by Plymouth Direct based out of Montgomeryville, PA, an up-and-coming company within the ASOTV industry who also manufactures Mighty Putty Purple and many other products.
Plymouth Direct holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, based on more than 140 closed complaints (as of 2/1/15), 15 of which the company never responded to. While no details were available for these complaints, they appeared to equally revolve around advertising issues, billing issues, and problems with the product/service.
Granted, this may not necessarily mean you’ll experience the same with BeQuiet, but it’s important to note nonetheless.
BeQuiet Pricing & Refund Policy
2 BeQuiets are priced at $10 plus $15.90 S&H. When checking out, you’ll notice a checkbox advertising a deluxe version of BeQuiet for an additional $20, which claims to be “made with more breathable and durable fabric and to come with a 1 year warranty,” although no additional details were provided on the product’s website. Because of this, you might be wary of exactly what you’re getting for your money.
BeQuiet comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. This means that if you decide to return your 2 BeQuiets, you’ll immediately lose nearly $16 in S&H charges, plus whatever it will cost to send them back to the manufacturer. In the end, you could spend twice as much in S&H charges as what you’ll receive as a refund.
Important note: The BeQuiet commercial claims they’ll refund your S&H if you decide to process a return, although there’s no indication of this on the Return Policy page on their website.
If you’d like to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 800-340-3418.
Is BeQuiet the Anti-Snoring Solution for You?
Chopping to the point: Ultimately, there’s only one way to find out if BeQuiet, or any other anti-snoring device for that matter, will work for you: Give it a try. In the instance of BeQuiet though, giving it a try could cost you a good chunk of change in S&H charges, so you’ll definitely want to check out other options before making a purchase.
Good chin strap
I use a CPAP machine and need a chin strap to keep my mouth closed at night. I have been using the chin straps that the doctor provided, but I decided to try these. The BeQuiet chin straps are very comfortable. I especially like the ear holes. The strap stays in place and doesn't slip off. The only downside is that they aren't adjustable, and they get just a bit loose after awhile. If you need a chin strap, these are great.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
