About Big Button Remote
Big Button Remote promises to take the confusion out of channel-and-device changing with a simplified remote control. They say it’s perfect for seniors or the visually/mentally impaired and it works with all TVs, satellites, or FIOS.
Big Button Remote appears to be sold by a company called Will It Launch, located in Overland Park, KS. However, there is no information about the company on the BBB website; therefore there is no rating or accreditation information available.
How Big Button Remote Works
Big Button Remote is a silver-colored remote with blue buttons that they claim is much easier to use than a standard remote; they say most remotes average 60-75 buttons, and this one appears to have 26. Big Button Universal Remote says it combines TV with cable, satellite, or FIOS into this one handheld device.
To use Big Button Remote, you need to type in a code specific to the brand and device you are trying to control. They claim has 3400 built-in codes for TVs, TV/VCRs, TV/DVDs, Satellite Brands, and Cable Boxes.
They tout it was specifically designed for seniors who may have impaired vision and/or memory: they say it has large buttons that light up when activated and are easy to read so you know what mode you are in. In addition, it has 3 LED signals – 2 in front and 1 on the back. That way, when the remote is pointed upwards (as it often is by seniors straining to look at and work the buttons simultaneously) it still points a beam frontward, connecting it to the devices.
In addition, Big Button Remote comes with a Finder Stand. This serves as a holder when not in use, and they say if it’s misplaced, you can press the Find button and it will cause the lost remote to beep.
They also tout its battery saver, which kicks in after 60 seconds of inactivity to prevent drain, as well as the Microban anti-microbial coating which they say keeps the remote cleaner longer.
Each Big Button Remote Order includes:
