About BioTrust Brain Bright
Manufactured by BioTrust, Brain Bright is a nutritional supplement that’s claimed to provide greatly improved memory and recall, immediate concentration, razor-sharp focus, boosted long term brain health, and significant improvements in learning, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills.
In other words, BioTrust claims that Brain Bright can help you avoid “brain drain,” whether it’s caused by everyday stress, environmental factors, or simply age.
According to the company, Brain Bright is “founded on science and backed by research” and features a “triple-action brain enhancement” formula that enhances neurotransmitter levels, increases blood flow, and helps protect the brain from damage. This includes the following “research backed” ingredients:
- Riboflavin 8mg
- Vitamin B6 20mg
- Folate 800mcg
- Vitamin B12 500mcg
- GinkgoClean Gingko Biloba Extract 240mg
- RhodiolaMax Rhodiola Rosea Extract 200mg
- N-acetyl-L-tyrosine 500mg
- Acetyl-L-carnitine 500mg
- L-Theanine 100mg
- BioPerine 5mg
In order to begin using BioTrust Bright Brain, you should take 1 tablet two times per day with meals, which is claimed to be free of caffeine and other stimulants, as well as gluten, dairy, wheat, soy, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, and peanuts.
Sure, Brain Bright might sound fantastic, but is it really as impactful as the manufacturer claims? Consider the following:
Is Brain Bright Effective?
Although BioTrust claims that Brain Bright was “founded on science and backed by research,” they don’t provide any clinical proof to back it up, unless they’re referencing the ingredients, not the supplement.
Even then, there is insufficient clinical evidence showing that riboflavin, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), folate (folic acid), vitamin B12, rhodiola rosea, or l-theanine can provide any of the benefits claimed by BioTrust.
However, keep in mind that these are important chemicals your body needs to operate effectively, so this doesn’t mean they won’t provide any benefits (such as vitamin B6 for high blood pressure and lung cancer, or folic acid for age-related vision loss), just none of the ones claimed by Brain Bright’s manufacturer.
On the other hand, gingko biloba is listed as “possibly effective” for “slightly improv[ing] memory, speed of thinking, and attention in healthy adults.”
Tyrosine may improve “mental performance under stressful conditions, such as military training, cold-induced stress, or noise-induces stress,” and “several studies show that tyrosine improves memory under stressful conditions, such as cold-stress or multitasking.”
Finally, acetyl-l-carnitine may help improve memory, although it currently appears to be most effective for elderly individuals or for those who use alcohol excessively.
The Distinction Between Researched & Proven
Although BioTrust seems to be more upfront and to stand behind their products much more so than many of the other nutritional supplements manufacturers we’ve reviewed here at HighYa, as we noted in our Metabo379 review, it’s important that we make a clear distinction between the terms “researched” and “proven.” But why?
According to BioTrust’s Quality Assurance page:
We only use HONEST, effective levels of scientifically-backed ingredients. We never add a “dusting” of an ingredient just for window dressing or marketing hype, a HUGE problem that is extremely common even with many of the most popular brands found at your local supplement store. Instead, we give you the honest amount of each ingredient that science shows will get you the best results.
As we can see, one of BioTrust’s main differentiators is that they claim all of their ingredients are scientifically backed, which might make you think that you can reasonably expect to experience all of the benefits they claim.
However, just because there are one or two studies showing that an ingredient (or blend of ingredients) can potentially result in specific benefits, this shouldn’t be taken to mean that it’s scientifically proven you’ll experience anything. After all, there are some clinical studies “backing” up garcinia cambogia supplements manufacturer’s claims, but almost no one has experienced any of these benefits.
In a nutshell, while it’s positive that there is some clinical research showing that Brain Bright’s ingredients may lead to some cognitive benefits, it’s far from a scientific fact that you’ll experience them (or anything at all, as noted by the WebMD links in the previous section).
Brain Bright Side Effects
For the most part, Brain Bright’s ingredients should be well tolerated by users, although the most common side effect associated with its ingredients is digestive upset.
Also, when it comes to folic acid, “Some research suggests that taking folic acid in doses of 800-1200 mcg might increase the risk of heart attack in people who have heart problems. Other research suggests that taking these high doses might also increase the risk of cancer such as lung or prostate cancer.”
Finally, it should be noted that the recommended daily allowance for vitamin B12 is 2.8mcg, while Brain Bright contains 500mcg, although this shouldn’t cause any health risks.
Other Nootropic Supplements
Finally, keep in mind that nootropics (also called “brain boosters”) are all the rage nowadays, so you’ll have a wide variety from which to choose, including Brain Storm Elite, Neuroflexyn, Evo Brain Pill, and more.
Granted, this doesn’t mean any of these supplements work any better than Brain Bright (or at all), which is something we discussed in detail in our article titled The Truth About Memory Supplements.
Customer Feedback for BioTrust Brain Bright
During our research, there weren’t any legitimate online customer reviews available for Brain Bright. However, we did come across several press releases from BioTrust from the early part of 2015, as well as fake reviews posted by independent affiliates that just want to take you more into the marketing hype.
From a company perspective, BioTrust Nutrition is based out of Austin, TX. The company held an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (as of 5/6/15) based on 25 complaints, most of which appeared to reference difficulty placing orders and problems receiving refunds.
Finally, here at HighYa, more than 70 consumers have provided their feedback for BioTrust and have given the company an average rating of 4 stars. Out of these however, only 66% would recommend to a friend based on complaints of failure to work, difficulty placing orders, and problems obtaining refunds.
Brain Bright Pricing & Refund Policy
Brain Bright is priced as follows:
- 1 Bottle: $49 plus $6.95 S&H
- 3 Bottles: $132 plus $6.95 S&H
- 6 Bottles: $234 plus $9.95 S&H
Regardless of which option you choose, you’ll also receive an e-book outlining 53 Fat Burning Smoothies & Milkshakes Recipes, which is available for instant download after your payment has been processed.
Unlike many other nutritional supplements companies we’ve reviewed, BioTrust doesn’t sign you up for any kind of autoship program, whether for Brain Bright or any of their other products, which is definitely positive.
Like all BioTrust products, Brain Bright comes with a 1-year money back guarantee, less S&H charges, even if the bottle is completely empty.
In order to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 800-766-5086.
Can BioTrust Brain Bright Boost Your Brainpower?
Chopping to the point: As a company, BioTrust seems to have a lot of things going for them, including providing labels for all their products, standing behind their products with a 1-year refund policy, and not signing customers up for autoship programs.
With this said, for most of the ingredients contained in Brain Bright, there is insufficient clinical evidence showing they can provide any of the benefits claimed by BioTrust. And even for those ingredients that may work, the overall effect will likely be much less dramatic than the manufacturer claims.
Because of these concerns, it’s our opinion that Brain Bright’s relatively high price is not in line with the benefits you can realistically expect to achieve from using it.

No noticeable "boost"
I was given a bottle of this supplement by my mother to use during my exam period and while I'm sure some of the vitamins contained in it could be useful if you're deficient, I've seen no noticeable benefits after 3 weeks of using it and certainly no discernible "boost" when taking two on an empty stomach. Overall I'd say they're probably just as effective an multivitamin - for double the price.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friendView all 1 commentsHide comments

I hope this finds you doing well! My name is Tim Skwiat, and I am the Director of Nutrition and Exercise with BioTrust Nutrition. While I'm very sorry to learn that you're not completely overwhelmed by your experience with Brain Bright, we are very grateful that you shared your personal feedback.
When we create our supplements, including Brain Bright, we seek out only the very best ingredients that scientific studies on real folks have demonstrated to be markedly effective. Not only that, we only include amounts of each key ingredient that the research has shown to be needed to provide beneficial effects. In other words, there’s no “fairy dusting” or “window dressing.”
There is a robust body of research providing convincing data on the effectiveness of each of the ingredients in Brain Bright, which I will happily make available (you are more than welcome to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for said references). In addition, we have also conducted a collection of randomized, crossover studies on the finished product itself.
Researchers from the University of Tampa found that after supplementation with Brain Bright (for just one week), participants improved concentration and accuracy on tests for short-term memory by 240 percent (compared to placebo). What’s more, supplementation with Brain Bright also significantly improved performance on tests for reaction time, processing speed, and attention.
With that being said, individual differences do indeed apply, and some folks may experience better results than others. That's precisely why we stand behind our products 100 percent with our industry best one-year money back guarantee. Along those lines, I invite you to contact our Customer Service department (or, me personally) to orchestrate a refund or exchange for another product of your choice:

Thank you again, Adelaide. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

How can you even "review" this product if you've never used it and how can you say you love the product of you just received it the day you posted this review? It is "reviews" like this that skews a REAL review for people who may be spending their last few dollars on a product that may or may not deliver results for them. Please take this "review" down. They didn't review anything.

Tricked into buying it
I receive emails from Biotrust and one offered a free bottle of the Brain Bright that I am not really interested in as I have taken Genko and other brain products for years and have a great knowledge of food and health. The website actually tricked me when asked for my credit card to pay the postage (have no problem with that) for the free product. The website then came up with buying other bottles and I could not get out of this (there is no exit) and next minute my credit card has been charged for 6-bottles that I didn't want.
No matter how much I emailed and complained about the website, I was dealing with highly unintelligent people who did acknowledge my complaint. They then said it had been shipped even though I said to stop it within an hour of this happening. I know there are time differences but this was Australia time Sunday night which is Sunday day in the USA This is a scam and a trick so be very careful of any emails offering free bottles from this company.
I am in Australia and to send things back is expensive. This has been such a waste of my valuable time. If I don't send them back I will be stuck with 7 bottles of a product I do not want or need. I blame myself for this move. I have had problems before with them not stopping products that were sent monthly, they kept avoiding my requests to stop.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friendView all 2 commentsHide comments

I decided to try the offer from brain bright because I have bi-polar and I take a lot of medicine. I know longer have short term memory or the ability to stay focused or concentrate on one thing for very long. After using brain bright about half way through the bottle not only did my brain work better, but it also gave me a boost in energy. Maybe it works for me because it helps counteract some side effects from my meds. The bottom line is I feel great better than I have in a while. I would recommend that you take this product to all my family and friends.
