About BodyCollar

Invented by Trish Wamsat, a professional trainer with 20+ years experience, BodyCollar dog harness features a patented design that stops pulling, but without pinching, choking, chafing, or inhibiting natural movement.

Regardless of your dog’s breed or size, BodyCollar works by applying gentle pressure on the body, away from the neck, which promotes positive behavior without causing pain. BodyCollar even claims to stop your dog’s pulling the first time you use it!

And because of BodyCollar’s two-piece design, it attaches and detaches in seconds, making it a convenient option for a quick walk in the park.

Does BodyCollar provide a solid value? Will it work as well as the manufacturer claims? You’ve got questions, and we’ll help you find the answers.

What Causes Pulling In the First Place? Can You Stop It?

There are dozens of reasons why dogs pull on their leashes, but it all boils down to one thing: overexcitement and over-arousal.

I mean, what’s not to be excited about? They’re out with their favorite person (i.e. you), they’re seeing new things and smelling new smells, and greeting other dogs.

As such, the first thing you should address is your dog’s behavior if you want to permanently stop their pulling. Common methods are exercising them in your yard before taking them on a walk, using positive rewards to let them know they’re doing something right, and more.

Outside of behavioral training, can no-pull harnesses like BodyCollar stop the pulling?

Will BodyCollar Work as Advertised?

BodyCollar was a brand new product at the time of our research, but the truth is that there are hundreds of no-pull harnesses available from other manufacturers, in all shapes and sizes—including ones very similar to BodyCollar (we’ll talk more about this next).

Don’t believe us? Try typing “no-pull harness” or “2-piece dog harness” into any search engine, and watch how many results pull up.

Here’s the thing: Regardless of their design, by definition no-pull harnesses feature a leash buckle in front, somewhere near your dog’s sternum. Because of this placement, your dog will be spun around if they attempt to pull, thereby inhibiting that behavior.

And the reality is that any no-pull harness will restrict your dog’s movement in some way, despite BodyCollar’s claims otherwise.

However, BodyCollar also attaches in the back, about a quarter of the way up your dog’s neck, so there’s nothing inherent about its design that would prevent your dog from pulling. In fact, by placing pressure on the neck and chest when your dog pulls, BodyCollar doesn’t seem to be meaningfully different than a standard (read: not a non-pull) harness.

Speaking of other options, will they provide a better value for your money than BodyCollar?

How Much Does BodyCollar Cost?

BodyCollar harnesses are available in blue and red in the following sizes:

  • Small (10-30 pounds): $29.95
  • Medium (25-60 pounds): $34.95
  • Large (55-110 pounds): $39.95

Regardless of the size you choose, you’ll also be charged $12.95 S&H and will receive a free leash with your order.

All BodyCollars come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. By the time you ship it back, this means you could lose upwards of $20 just for giving BodyCollar a try!

Nonetheless, you can request a refund by calling Catapult1, LLC’s customer service department at 877-818-4227.

Just who is this company, anyway?

More Info about BodyCollar’s Manufacturer

We’ve reviewed hundreds of As Seen on TV products here at HighYa, and this is the first time we can recall encountering Catapult1, LLC.

Searching online for more information about the company, very little was available at the time of our research, and they weren’t listed with the Better Business Bureau. We didn’t get any help from their website either, which was under construction.

Granted, the ASOTV industry doesn’t exactly have a reputation for being upfront and completely transparent with customers, so it doesn’t come a much of a surprise that BodyCollar’s manufacturer remains under the radar, even while they actively market a product.

But ultimately, we think this is something you should consider before ordering BodyCollar.

When it comes down to it though, should you even order BodyCollar in the first place?

Is BodyCollar Your Best No-Pull Option?

Remember when we talked about other no-pull options above? Well, you don’t have to go online to find them, since they’re extremely popular and can be found at just about any pet supplies store near you.

And with BodyCollar’s high, non-refundable S&H charges, we think these local options might provide more value for your money, and less of a hassle should you want to process a return.

But even if BodyCollar was the same price as these other options, its basic design makes us question just how effective it would be at improving your dog’s behavior and stopping them from pulling.

  • Don't waste your money!

I ordered one of these for my mini dachshund, and she pulls just as bad. I thought it might be because of her breed, but it says this is for all breeds. Unfortunately, it's been longer than 3 months, and I would lose money sending it back. The only reason I gave it 1 star was there wasn't a zero option.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Horrible

    • Flint, MI,
    • Feb 24, 2016

Let me start first by saying that this product did absolutely nothing to stop my dog from pulling. I think I would have been better off with just a regular collar. I can't see it working for any dog, and I believe it would irritate their armpits because that's where it ends up. I figured I would try it because their website said there was a no risk policy and I could get free shipping and free returns. When I called to try to send it back they were insisting I had to talk to a trainer to try to teach me how to use it properly. I explain to them that I have a large breed dog was a strong pull her and I did not want to speak to anyone it simply isn't going to work for me. They then told me I could send it back at my own cost. I told him of the website says free shipping and free returns and they insisted that the FinePrint said I was responsible for the return shipping. What exactly does free shipping mean? Why would you put that on there if there was no free shipping? This was a huge hassle and I will probably end up having to dispute it with my credit card. Wish I had never ordered this piece of crap.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Best no pull solution

I use my body collar everyday to walk my dog and it makes it such a hassle-free activity. The designer is a miraculous and amazing dog trainer. I would definitely recommend giving it a shot.

Not designed for large dogs with thick necks

    • Denver, CO,
    • Jan 7, 2016

We have a larger lab (100lbs) and the collar doesn't fit around his neck. Way to tight and will rub it raw like others we've tried. He also has a very thick chest and shoulders and not even close to fitting right. Not a one size fits all for large dogs anyway.

The best tool I've ever seen.

    • San Martin, CA,
    • Nov 21, 2015

The editor of this article is completely off base. As a family dog boarding facility, I have first hand use and knowledge of the Body Collar. It does exactly as claimed and has from the first day I purchased it. In fact, many of my clients have also purchased it once they saw how it worked on there own dog while in my care. It's definitely not a scam. I've bought and used every imaginable harness and training apparatus there is and NONE, have ever worked like the Body Collar. I strongly recommend it and think that the editor of this site should do some real due diligence before bashing such a product.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
