About BrainAmmo

BrainAmmo is a 100% all natural smart pill featuring “potent focus factors” that boost brain function, restore memory loss, boost energy levels, and improve concentration. BrainAmmo’s cognitive blend can also boost focus and mental clarity, increase your energy levels, support cognitive function, and reduce mental fatigue.

In fact, by taking just one pill of BrainAmmo every morning, you’ll revitalize your mind, without any side effects!

Will BrainAmmo really “give your a mental edge” though, or will your just be edgy from all the unknown ingredients and high prices?

In this review, we’ll help you decide if BrainAmmo is worth your time and money. So to begin, let’s address how your mind works. Specifically, how it forms memories.

How Are Memories Formed In the Brain?

There’s no doubt that the human mind is an amazing organ. And although we certainly don’t know everything about it, it’s thought that your brain stores memories “in the connections between neurons, and can even depend on a single molecule for their long-term stability.”

Each of the 100 billion+ neurons in your brain is connected to up to 10,000 other neurons, which communicate with one another using chemicals known as neurotransmitters.

While there are many types of neurotransmitters (such as acetylcholine, serotonin, dopamine, GABA, and more), they basically fall into one of two categories: Inhibitory neurotransmitters balance mood while excitatory ones stimulate the brain.

When we’re young, our body produces plenty of these neurotransmitters, so our brain functions at an optimal level. As we age however, we begin producing less and less of these key neurotransmitters, leading to memory problems (e.g. forgetting where you placed your keys, failing to remember a person’s name, etc.). Ultimately, this leads to a condition known as mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

The good news is that MCI typically isn’t a serious concern, although it might be fairly annoying from time to time. But is there any evidence that BrainAmmo’s ingredients will help prevent (or even reverse) mild cognitive impairment?

Let’s find out.

Will BrainAmmo’s Ingredients Boost Your Memory?

Here at HighYa, we’ve reviewed hundreds of nutritional supplements and dozens of brain boosting nootropics (more shortly) like BrainAmmo. And one of the most common concerns we run across is failure to provide a product label—or, in the instance of BrainAmmo, failure to provide any ingredients whatsoever.

Basically, all we’re told is that BrainAmmo contains a “100% pure phosphatidylserine complex.” How much information can we glean from this?

Phosphatidylserine is a chemical found in the body that play a variety of key roles, since it makes up “part of the cell structure and is key in the maintenance of cellular function, especially in the brain.” As such, phosphatidylserine is listed as possibly effective for addressing some symptoms of age-related mental decline and improving some Alzheimer’s symptoms.

In fact, in 2003 the FDA “gave "qualified health claim" status to phosphatidylserine thus allowing labels to state "consumption of phosphatidylserine may reduce the risk of dementia and cognitive dysfunction in the elderly." However, this came with the disclaimer "very limited and preliminary scientific research suggests that phosphatidylserine may reduce the risk of cognitive dysfunction in the elderly. FDA concludes that there is little scientific evidence supporting this claim.”

In short, there’s some preliminary evidence showing that phosphatidylserine supplementation may have brain benefits, although this evidence is extremely limited.

But here’s the thing: Even if there were vast amounts of evidence showing phosphatidylserine could improve brain function, we:

  1. Have no idea how much is contained in BrainAmmo (WebMD recommends taking 100mg, three times daily), or
  2. Whether or not it’s enough to provide any benefits whatsoever.

Given this hazy information, does BrainAmmo’s manufacturer charge too much?

How Expensive Is BrainAmmo?

BrainAmmo is available in the following quantities:

  • 1 Bottle (30 capsules): $69.95
  • 2 Bottles: $119.90
  • 3 Bottles: $199.80

Regardless of which option you choose, you’ll also pay $6.95 S&H.

All BrainAmmo purchases come with a 60-day refund policy, less S&H charges. In order to request one, you’ll need to call Life Essentials customer service at 855-580-6655.

How does this price compare to the competition?

BrainAmmo’s Competition

As we mentioned above, we’ve reviewed a lot of supplements like BrainAmmo, including popular options like Brain Storm Elite, Neuroflexyn, Addium, and many others. Is BrainAmmo meaningfully different?

In our opinion, probably not. Why?

Because, although these supplements often contain ingredients that may improve your brain health, there largely isn’t enough clinical evidence showing they can reliably provide any benefits for otherwise healthy individuals. And even if they did work, what you’ll experience will almost certainly be less revolutionary that the companies make it seem.

But don’t take our word for it. Among more than 100 HighYa reader reviews for the products above, readers have given them an average rating of just 2 stars. Common complaints revolve around failure to work, high prices (many are priced about the same as BrainAmmo), and poor customer service (difficulty obtaining refunds, etc.).

And in reality, we think you’ll experience at least some of this (if not all) with BrainAmmo.

But what about BrainAmmo’s manufacturer? Does the company have a reputation for quality products?

What’s Up with BrainAmmo’s Manufacturer?

BrainAmmo is brought to you by Life Essentials, LLC based out of Stevenson Ranch, CA, who makes of variety of supplements intended to control blood pressure, detoxify your body, help you lose weight (such as Cocoa Burn), and otherwise improve your health.

Similar to BrainAmmo, it’s our opinion that many of Life Essentials’ supplements contain largely unproven ingredients, while their benefits are hugely overblown. Are customers finding the same thing?

Despite the length of time Life Essentials has been in business, there was little online customer feedback about the company or their products at the time of our research.

Life Essentials did have a B+ rating with the Better Business Bureau based on just one closed complaint (as of 11/20/15), although no details were available.

Taking all of this together, should you roll the dice on BrainAmmo?

Is BrainAmmo a Magic Bullet for Improved Memory?

Cognitive decline is a very real problem as we get older, and it can be easy to believe that avoiding it is as easy as taking a natural supplement like BrainAmmo. After all, these companies talk a big game.

But when it comes down to it, we don’t think BrainAmmo’s “phosphatidylserine complex” will do anything more than quickly drain your bank account. But if you still feel like giving it a try, it appears the company stands behind their product with a 60-day empty bottle refund policy, which is certainly positive.

Instead, if you’ve noticed your memory slipping, we think your money would be better spent making an appointment with your doctor. Then, they’ll be able to form an effective treatment plan based on your specific diagnosis.
