Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare Review

By Lydia Noyes

Updated on: Apr 23, 2020

Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare is claimed to be a “breakthrough” line of anti-aging products that revitalize your skin and help it look younger, while also improving problem skin, protecting from sun damage, and reversing the signs of aging.

Christie claims to have created the product line to “share her secret,” for gorgeous skin, which was gained “after a career with access to leading scientists.” She purportedly enlisted the help of a cosmetic dermatologist and medical journalist Dr. Doris Day, who “provided key formulation feedback throughout development.”

Overall, Christie Brinkley’s Authentic Skincare line promises to embody her passion for anti-aging and being ecologically conscious. She claims to have been “personally involved in every step in the process.”

There’s no doubt that Christie Brinkley’s name immediately conjures images of timeless beauty and supermodel status. But does this necessarily mean that her Authentic Skincare line will provide any benefits, or that it’s worth the money? This review will answer these questions and help you decide if this skincare line is right for you.

Product Line

Overall, 13 products make up the Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare line:

  • Recapture 360 Night Anti-Aging Night Treatment: As you sleep, this product is claimed to contain a “unique peptide,” and a Bio-Copper Complex that smoothes and rejuvenates your skin.

  • Uplift Firming Neck & Décolleté Treatment: Targets the neck, décolleté, and chest area to improve firmness and elasticity, tighten and brighten skin, and smooth the neckline.

  • Complete Clarity Facial Cleansing Wash: A foaming gel cleanser claimed to remove makeup, balance moisture, and leave your skin refreshed.

  • Close Up Instant Wrinkle Reducer and Treatment: An instant firming treatment that tightens and smooths fine lines around the eyes, mouth, and forehead.

  • Forever Flawless Professional Finish Foundation – SPF 40: A double-duty foundation that protects your skin from sun damage while providing peptides and other ingredients that bind moisture to the skin.

  • Secrets and Lines Under-Eye Concealer: A lightweight, skin-soothing formula for enhancing and brightening your skin while hiding age spots, discoloration, dark circles, and other signs of aging.

  • Strobes Show Natural Glow Stick Highlighter: This skin refiner illuminates your skin for a subtle sheen that blends well and melts on contact with your skin.

  • Cheek Chic Color and Contour Powder Blush: A light pink contour that adds a pop of color to your complexion while providing a smooth finish and minimizing your pores.

  • Sun-Kissed Bliss Sheer Powder Bronzer: This powder bronzer comes as a weightless formula that delivers warmth to your skin for natural, sun-kissed color.

  • Prime Time Day to Night Nudes Eye Shadow Palette: A curated palate of velvety eye shadows to help you create a range of elegant looks for any occasion.

  • In a Blink Instant Volumizing Mascara: Mascara with a “peptide-powered” formula to give you ultra-black eyelashes that are clump-free, flake-free, and fortified for further growth.

  • Take a Bow Brow Defining Pencil: Color, shape, and add density to your brows with this non-smudge pencil that includes a teardrop-shaped tip for extra precision- no sharpening required.

  • Lip Beautifully Moisture-Rich Lipstick: A non-feathering, no-fade lipstick that lets you hydrate your lips with a rich, emollient formula.

A Closer Look at the Ingredients

Like most skincare and anti-aging products, Christie Brinkley’s line of products contain a lot of ingredients, so we’d strongly recommend reviewing the full list for the particular product you’re interested in, as well as to identify any possible allergic reactions.

With this said, the vast majority of Christy Brinkley Skincare’s active ingredients are proprietary formulations, including Neodermyl, Elix-IR, Sytenol A, K Vita C, Mitostime, Vederine, Phormistim G, Aquaxyl, and several others.

And while you may experience some benefits from these, there is insufficient third-party clinical evidence available showing that they work as advertised.

On the other hand, some products within the Authentic Skincare line do include “natural” ingredients, including niacinamide, horse chestnut seed extract, magnolia super extract, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, caffeine, salicylic acid, aloe powder, and glycerin.

Of these ingredients, the primary benefits (when applied topically) are moisturization, anti-irritant, and anti-inflammatory. However, these alone may not necessarily provide the level of anti-aging you’re looking for.

Possible Side Effects

Overall, most of Christie Brinkley’s Skincare products should be well tolerated by most individuals. And although we encountered very few online customer reviews that critiqued these products or cited allergic reactions, keep in mind that niacinamide can cause flushing and redness, while salicylic acid can lead to dry, peeling skin.

Finally, you should look for products that have had the toxic substance esculin removed. Products that contain horse chestnut can cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, stomach upset, and itching.

Pricing and Refund Policy

Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare products are priced as follows:

  • Complete Clarity Facial Cleansing Wash: $32.95 for 3-oz
  • Close Up Instant Wrinkle Reducer and Treatment: $79.95 for 0.33-oz

  • Lip Beautifully Moisture-Rich Lipstick: $19 for 0.14-oz

Shipping is currently free for all orders. Unlike in the past, Christie Brinkley no longer offers any trial offers or auto-ship programs for your purchase.

In the past, this company offered a 30-day trial for Recapture-360, where customers paid $3.95 for a month’s worth of product. However, if you didn’t return the sample within that time you would be billed the full price of $69.95 and be enrolled in a monthly auto-ship program for more products at the same price. As stated above, this program was a common complaint in customer reviews.

Today, all Authentic Skincare products come with a 30-day refund, minus return shipping charges. Even empty containers qualify for this guarantee. To request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 800-566-7897.

The Bottom Line

Overall, Christie Brinkley’s Authentic Skincare line appears to come with decent customer ratings, especially when you discount the negative comments due to the company’s past auto-ship program.

There’s clinical evidence that many of the ingredients within this product line will provide positive skin benefits. However, choosing an anti-aging product is a very personal decision, so what works well for others may not be your cup of tea, whether due to preference, skin type, and more.

If you do decide to give Authentic Skincare a try, the company appears to stand behind their products with a 30-day return policy, although you’ll be out a small amount for return shipping.

Beware a scam

By Michele Lemke, De Soto, WI, Verified Reviewer

I received an offer by email for a FREE sample of Christie Brinkley's skincare product. All I had to do is pay $1.99 for shipping. That is until the product arrived and I found out I owed $139.90.

There was no place on the original ad that there was any other charge for this sample. I called to find out that yes indeed there was a charge. I could return the items and that would take care of it. The biggest slap is they would not even pay for return postage.

Even if I liked the product I would never buy it because of their deceptive policies and their lack of caring about the deception. Is this how Christie makes her money?

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bad experience, horrible "return policy"!

By Carol B, Davis CA, Verified Reviewer

I have had the same terrible experience, but I almost tried for the free product, and ended up with almost $400 of stuff. I didn't complete my order and left the website and this still happened. I never received an acknowledgment of my order or any paperwork! I did dispute one charge on my credit card and got $99 back, sent 2 products back, received partial credit for one. Still trying to pursue, going to try to dispute another charge. I don't usually order free samples, but I went ahead and was going to try because I felt Christie Brinkley could be trusted. Right now I'm out about $180.

Don't be fooled!

By Blanche, Verified Reviewer

Do not sign up for a free sample, because it's not free! I've got four shipments of this stuff that I don't need and they are charging me 70 bucks a whack and it's impossible to cancel. I'm disputing the charges with my bank now.

Aussies don't enter your credit card details

By Penny , Australia

I never usually buy into these "free trials" but I was tempted as it was only $1.99 and it was a Christie Brinkley product so I thought she would be careful with her reputation. Anyway, I used a debit credit card with about $30 AUD in it and it rejected my order and labeled it as "Insufficient funds". Strange I thought. No kidding, within 10 minutes I got a call from some Indian call center trying to get me to give them another credit card number. Dumb me gave them my actual phone number when I registered for the "free sample! See other comments/reviews. They charge your credit card for the full amount of $79.99 and then they keep sending you product whether you want it or not and you won't know until you get your bill. Do not be tempted. It is a scam. Sham on you Christie Brinkley. I trusted you!

Terrible experience

By Nicole, Australia, Verified Reviewer

I ordered the trial and have been using the products on just one side of the face. There is no visible difference so I called to cancel. The phone number that is obvious on the invoice does not work (at least from Australia) and I really had so search for another number that did work.

The rep I spoke to informed me that he could cancel but I would owe well over $100. I was in such shock I can't even remember the amount. He then said he would halve it and apply his employee discount, to which I would not agree as I had never signed up to any further charges in the first place. I was then told I could return the products at my expense, which I also refused to do, as by this point I was becoming well aware this is not a company that is honest or can be trusted.

Finally I said that I would just contact my bank, as I had not and would not authorize any more charges. At this point the rep became very rude and insulting but did say that they would cancel and I would not be charged anything further. I have an email from them to confirm this.

I wouldn't want my name attached to this company if I was Christie Brinkley.

Cheated out of my money.

By Rosa Seymour, Lithonia, GA, Verified Reviewer

I ordered Christie Brinkley product back in May 2016. Shorty after ordering this product and before I had received it. I got a skin rash so when it was received I decided that I was not going to use it in fear of this rash may have gotten worse with this product.

I call their Customer Service dept and they gave me an RMA (Return number) to send it back.

I returned it thru the US Postal Service with a tracking number. After about 1 week it showed it was received in their Mechanicsville, Pa. location facility.

In approximately 60 to 75 days I received a bill for $139. I called the Customer Service department and they said it was not received it and at this time I no longer had the tracking receipt.

I went to the Local PO and they needed that number to see what they could find. Their Customer Service dept was extremely rude to me. I assume this is the way they get money from a customer, they waited 2 months or more to contact me.

I had never used the produce and honesty did not open it. I now see that they have put thru a charge to the credit card company for $69.00 and I assume they will again put through another installment.

I would have rather given $139. to one of my favorite charity organization than to give it to a company that I feel has stolen my money. So let me emphasize that if you ever return anything to this company make sure you keep the return label for as long as you live. Totally disappointed.

Rip Off

By Bethea, New York City, NY, Verified Reviewer

I do not believe that Christie Brinkley stands behind her products or it would not be necessary to scam customers out of their "Risk Free Trial Offers". They claim it's a 14 day trial meanwhile countdown already started once you confirmed the trial. So the days that it's en route suck up the time you would put the product to the test. So let's say you are away during the weekend and you receive it on the on the sixth day, you better be ready to know that within the next 6 days, be ready for a monthly commitment of $89.00, so think fast!

I tried to cancel on the 14th day and a rep named GABRIEL actually laughed and then refused to put on his supervisor and told me I must be confusing him with Gabriel from the church! What the heck? No kidding, the rep made a religious reference

Bottom line is to just stay away. I was not issued a refund and I had to go through my bank before someone finally agreed to a partial refund. Horrific. I was not so impressed with the product. Stick with the free samples from the mall. This is a scam! Shame on Christy B. For allowing her name to be attached to this Trickery. Please, someone cast her so she can let this crap go.

Ordered a trial, didn't even open the products

By Pam B., KY, Verified Reviewer

I read the long, long list of ingredients and I'm allergic to at least half of them. I'm told I have until the end of April to return them (at my expense), but will do so immediately (and get a confirmation). The rep I spoke with on the phone wouldn't take no for an answer. He argued about my allergies, reviewed the ingredients, tried to sell me other products, and wouldn't shut up. Christy Brinkley is making a bad name for herself. Her product sucks and her reps are rude. Her company's going under, that's for sure. (Cindy Crawford has a much better, simpler, affordable, proven, and guaranteed product.)

Free trial scam

By Dee, El Paso, TX, Verified Reviewer

I ordered Christie Brinkley's 360 day and night cream free 30 day trial. But not only do I have to cancel before the 30 days so my card won't be charged full price for both, but I must return the product, even if empty, at my cost. When I called to cancel, they tried everything to keep me on their auto refill, which you are automatically signed up for when you order the free trial. All of this information is not available to you until you have given all of your information and your order has been placed. I'm just putting it out there so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I wish I would have known before.

Rip-off

By Malinda , Newnan, GA

I have been cheated for $210.00. I can't afford this. They won't accept me sending it back. I don't want it, but I have to pay another payment. What a big rip-off.

Scam

By Anna Dahlberg, Raglan, New Zealand, Verified Reviewer

Beware of Christie Brinkley scam! Okay, so I don't usually get caught by internet advertising scams, but Christie Brinkley Skin Care is a total scam. When they say you get a free trial they mean over NZD $200 per tiny bottle (30ml) of moisturizer, which they take from you in installments. I asked for both the night and morning 'trial', so that is over NZD $400. Sadly, these advertisements tend to catch people who aren't wealthy or can afford these payments. I only rang up because after money was taken from my account, I expected 2 full sized pots of moisturizer. They said "you already received your supply, and your next installment is still to come out of your bank account". The skin care was no better than my Nutrimetics (cruelty free), and 4x the price. I am really guttered. I feel ripped off.
