About CogniSharp

CogniSharp is a new memory support supplement that’s claimed to help improve short-term memory and focus, and to promote mitochondrial health so that your cells are able to make the energy they need to remain healthy.

In order to accomplish this, CogniSharp is claimed to combine the power of BioPQQ and CoQ10, which has been shown to be 30X more effective at improving memory than placebo (more about this in a moment). According to the manufacturer, all you need to do is take 2 capsules of CogniSharp in the morning, and you’ll experience these benefits within 8-16 weeks.

There are a lot of good things getting older, such as knowing exactly what you want in life, and getting to enjoy the fruits of your years of hard work. However, there are definitely some downsides to aging; perhaps the biggest of which is memory loss.

But can the ingredients contained in CogniSharp help reduce these effects, or will you just be throwing your money out the window? Consider the following:

Is CogniSharp Clinically Proven to Improve Memory?

According to the CogniSharp website, “PQQ 20 mg/day + CoQ10 300 mg/day or placebo were taken in a randomized double blind study by Japanese men and women aged 50-70 who had mild memory loss associated with aging. Their memory functions were tested with the Japanese version of the RBANS test, which is a particular test method used to examine the memory functions. At 8 weeks, the immediate memory scores of the group that received PQQ + CoQ10 were 30 X higher than the placebo group’s scores. The difference between the groups scores varied depending upon how long PQQ 20 mg/day + CoQ10 300 mg/day or placebo were taken.”

In other words, although you could certainly be led to think otherwise, this clinical trial referenced only the ingredients contained in CogniSharp, not the supplement itself.

Important note: The citation for the above study was listed on the CogniSharp website as “Medical Consultation and New Remedies 48(5), 59-67, 2011.” However, when searching for this exact citation online, the only results we received were for sites directly related to CogniSharp.

Are CogniSharp’s Ingredients Effective?

Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) is a chemical responsible for the activation of signaling molecules, which can help create new mitochondria within cells, and can help boost energy metabolism, development, and function. With this said, BioPQQ is a proprietary, commercialized form of PQQ owned by Mitsubishi Gas Chemical America, Inc, although there aren’t any clear benefits to this version posted on the manufacturer’s website.

According to WebMD, CoQ10 is a used by your body “to produce energy [it] needs for cell growth and maintenance. It also functions as an antioxidant, which protects the body from damage caused by harmful molecules.” While CoQ10 is generally considered safe, some patients taking more than 100mg per day have reported side effects such as insomnia, rashes, digestive upset, and more.

However, it’s important to note that while there are some benefits associated with each of these chemicals, there is an insufficient amount of clinical evidence showing that supplementation can improve memory in any way.

Other Nootropics on the Marketplace

Finally, it’s important to keep in mind that nootropics are recently begun flooding the market, so if you’re looking for a “brain booster,” you have a lot of options from which to choose.

However, this doesn’t mean that any of these other options will be any more effective that CogniSharp, which is something we detailed in our article The Truth About Memory Supplements.

Have Customers Boosted Their Memory with CogniSharp?

CogniSharp was a relatively new supplement at the time of our research, and didn’t have any online customer reviews available. We did learn that CogniSharp is manufactured by Kowa Health Care America, Inc., although the company is not listed with the Better Business Bureau.

However, we’ve reviewed dozens of popular brain health supplements here at HighYa, including Cebria, Evo Brain Pill, Neuroflexyn, and many more. Among these, readers rate these products with an average of 2 stars, with the most common complaint (by far) citing failure to work.

Granted, these products appear to have a different formulation, so this may not be what you’ll experience with CogniSharp, but it’s worth keeping in mind nonetheless.

CogniSharp Pricing & Refund Policy

CogniSharp is only available through the manufacturer, and 2 bottles are priced at $39.95 plus $5.95 S&H.

Unlike many other nutritional supplements we’ve reviewed, CogniSharp doesn’t enroll you in an autoship program, which is definitely a positive aspect.

All CogniSharp purchases come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. In order to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at (888) 655-9649 for RMA.

Will CogniSharp Help Improve Your Memory & Brain Health?

Chopping to the point: Considering the lack of clinical evidence showing that the ingredients contained in CogniSharp can provide you with any kind of memory or brain health benefits, we might recommend speaking with your physician about more effective methods of reducing memory loss.

However, if you’d like to try PQQ and CoQ10 for yourself, these supplements are available separately through a wide variety of retailers, and are often priced lower than CogniSharp.
