About Cognitine

By providing essential daily neurotransmitter support, along with nutraceuticals that help improve learning, memory, focus, and concentration, Cognitine claims to be a scientifically designed proprietary brain formula that can “increase your capacity for life.” As such, Cognitine claims to help you avoid premature mental decline and to help support cognition through every stage of your life.

Although mental decline starts as early as your mid twenties, it probably isn’t until much later that it’s really begun to affect your life. As a result, you’re probably looking for anything that can help, whether it’s a nutritional supplement or something else altogether. But is Cognitine the “breakthrough” you’ve been waiting for, or is it just another way of taking your money? Let’s see what the facts have to say.

How Does Cognitine Work?

If you’re feeling forgetful, sluggish, moody, or depressed, Cognitine is a nootropic dietary supplement that claims to support optimal brain function, combat symptoms of mental decline, stop the effects of accelerated brain aging, and dramatically improve quality of life. In fact, the manufacturer claims that Cognitine can help boost your brain’s ability to heal itself and to restore the cognitive abilities you had decades ago.

In order to accomplish this, Cognitine’s ingredients are claimed to help increase the strength and plasticity of you cell’s membranes, increase your brain’s nerve growth factors, increase the amount of neurotransmitters in your brain, protect it from free radicals and neurotoxins, and increase blood flow. These advanced ingredients and “cutting edge” formulations include:

  • Bacopa Monieri – May help repair and enhance nerve impulse transmissions.
  • Ginkgo Biloba – Appears to help improve blood circulation.
  • Vinpocetine – May help increase the production of serotonin, which is responsible for mood.
  • Huperzine A – May be helpful in improving age-related memory decline.
  • Phosphatidylserine – May regulate how brain cells process information.
  • L-Glutamine – An essential neurotransmitter for healthy brain function.
  • DHA – May help enhance communication between the brain and nervous system.
  • DMA – May help improve alertness and focus.
  • Korean Ginseng – May boost energy and calm emotions.

According to the Cognitine website, you should take 1 tablet twice daily in between meals, no later than 4pm, which can be increased to 4 capsules per day after speaking with your physician.

Once this occurs, Cognitine is claimed to begin working after your first dose, with a “substantial difference” after 7 days. However, the company claims it will take up to 3 months for you to experience the supplement’s full benefits.

Cognitine Pricing & Refund Policy

Cognitine is only available through the manufacturer, in 3 different packages:

  • 1 Bottle: $67, plus $5.95 S&H
  • 2 Bottles: $119.90, plus free S&H
  • 4 Bottles: $199.80, plus free S&H

Whichever option you choose, Cognitine comes with 60-day money back guarantee, which even includes an extra $10 just for trying the supplement. In order to initiate the refund process, you’ll need to contact customer service at 877-320-2929.

Is Cognitine Your Best Bet for Improved Mental Function?

When compared to other brain products such as Brain Abundance and Cerebral Success, has Cognitine been shown to work better? Or, has it even been shown to work at all? Consider the following:

The Efficacy of Brain Supplements

First, if you’re looking to find out whether or not brain supplements work to begin with, a great place to start would be reading our article titled The Truth About Memory Supplements: What to Look For & How to Buy One. We won’t ruin the surprise, but suffice it to say that solid clinical evidence showing that any of the ingredients contained in Cognitine actually improve your memory or reduce age-related mental decline is lacking.

Newer Product and Company Reputation

With a URL registered in March 2014, Cognitine appears to be a very new product, and as such does not have any online customer reviews you can use to gauge satisfaction. However, we did learn that Legacy Labs, the creator of Cognitine, is based out of Las Vegas, NV and has an F rating with the BBB. Although they only having 3 closed complaints, only 1 of these was responded to by the company, which might be what you could expect after placing your order.

Product Label

Finally, although the Cognitine website does provide a list of ingredients contained in the supplement, no product label is provided. As such, you’re not informed if this is a complete list of ingredients, or the amounts of each ingredient the supplement contains.

After all, this is something you’ll be putting in your body, so you deserve to know exactly what’s in it.

Bottom line

Between the supplement’s recent appearance, the company’s low BBB rating, and the lack of clinical support showing that brain supplements work as advertised, you may want to speak with your physician about more tried-and-true methods of preventing age-related mental decline.

    This stuff is great

I have used this product for several months. I found that if I missed two or three days, there was a definite effect on my memory. It took longer to remember the word I was looking to say, and little thing slipped my mind unless I was reminded by someone else. I can't speak for anyone else so I don't guarantee it works for everyone, but it sure works for me and I don't want to be without it. I am 78 years old and whatever I can do to keep my mind sharp I will do.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    No Help/ Poor Customer Service

I purchased 10 bottles for $379.50. I found no difference in my Brain Behavior and my doctor check ups prove it.

I have sent e-mails to customer support because I was having surgery, I wanted to know why I had to stop taking the product but they never replied. Now the refund date has past due.

So for those people who feel the product works and want to purchase the rest of my unopened bottles at half price, please e-mail at chipc6@aol.com and I will gladly send them to you.

    Cognitine is a Fraud

    • La Jolla, CA,
    • Jul 8, 2015

For $199, I ordered and took Cognitine faithfully every day for four months (120 days) and experience no effect whatsoever. It was supposed to cure your memory problems. I even forgot to send it back because they won't refund your money if you request it over 60 days. I was foolish enough to hope that it would help if I continued to take it. Absolutely no help.

    Good stuff

    • Pueblo, CO,
    • Jun 19, 2015

I started taking Bacopa and it helped quite a bit. When I found Cognitine, I saw it had Bacopa and a bunch of other good supplements all in one, so I ordered it. It was a little pricey for me, but I figured you probably can't buy all these things separately and pay a lot less. Works even better than just Bacopa. Mental fog is pretty much gone.

    100% Scam!

    • Los Angeles, CA,
    • Jun 11, 2015

"Cognitine" is merely a very expensive supplement that contains ingredients found in your average health food store or drug store. The company that peddles this snake oil is as useless as the product itself. Refunds are next to impossible to collect, and alerting them that you'll refer the matter to an attorney or consumer agency merely goes to deaf ears.

This product was purchased by a friend of mine who suffered two TIA strokes five years ago, and the perils that she went through to get a refund since the product was completely useless. She spent over $400.00 on this garbage.

People who deal in the snake oil racket are pure sleaze; they're absolute degenerates of society. I have alerted Dr. Stephen Barret at www.quackwatch.org about the website that peddles Cognitine. Dr. Barret is a consumer watchdog who has successfully sued hundreds of practitioners and peddlers of pseudo-scientific products and procedures for the last 40 years.

Cognitine worked very well for me

    • San Diego, CA,
    • Jun 11, 2015

Cognitine worked very well for me. I was taking another brand and switched to Cognitine. I felt normal, was no longer as confused, and had clearer thinking. When my supply of Cognitine exhausted, I went back to the other brand. After a few days I could tell the difference. The confusion and forgetfulness returned. Cognitine was much more effective. Although I still had mild forgetfulness and mild confusion at times. It effectiveness far exceeded the other brain booster.
