About Copper Fit Smart Balm
Copper Fit Smart Balm claims to be a professional roll-on pain relief gel that delivers targeted, penetrating, fast acting relief instantly, without the side effects associated with common pain reliever pills. In fact, Smart Balm is claimed to work so fast that you’ll “feel the pain going away as you’re putting it on.”
On top of this, Copper Fit Smart Balm claims to be scientifically proven to reduce inflammation and swelling, making it ideal for sore muscles, spasms, painful swelling, sprains, strains, and joint pain.
Despite it’s pain-relieving power though, Copper Fit Smart Balm is made in the USA from all-natural ingredients, without paraben.
After you sweep away all the marketing hype though, is Smart Balm really a “pain relief breakthrough,” or will it leave you with just as much pain as before, but with less money in your bank account? Consider the following:
What Ingredients Does Copper Fit Smart Balm Use for Pain?
According to the Copper Fit website, Smart Balm contains magnesium, chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulfate, MSM, camphor, menthol, wintergreen oil, eucalyptus oil, grape seed oil, vitamin E, and thymol. Let’s take a closer look and see how effective these ingredients are at providing pain relief.
Magnesium may be helpful for relieving some types of nerve pain, although only when given intravenously.
When taken orally, chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine sulfate may be effective for reducing osteoarthritis symptoms, although much of the existing research is inconclusive. However, “There is no research showing that chondroitin is absorbed through the skin,” so when it comes to Copper Fit Smart Balm, this ingredient almost certainly won’t provide you with any benefits.
Similarly, msm (methylsulfonylmethane) may help treat pain and joint movement related to osteoarthritis, although “the changes seem to be small, and it might not reduce other symptoms such as stiffness.”
According to WebMD, camphor “is FDA-approved for use on the skin as a painkiller in concentrations of 3% to 11%. It is in many rub-on products for cold sores, insect stings and bites, minor burns, and hemorrhoids,” while menthol works similarly for minor pain.
In other words, only a couple of Copper Fit Smart Balm’s ingredients appear to be effective for pain relief when applied topically. We’re not informed how much of each of these ingredients it contains though, or whether or not this is enough to provide any meaningful pain relief.
Does Smart Balm Contain Any Copper?
One thing you may have noticed is that, despite what the name might lead you to believe, the “Copper Fit” in Smart Balm’s name only references the manufacturer, not any of the ingredients it contains.
In other words, it contains zero copper.
Is Smart Balm Clinically Proven?
According to text on the product’s website, “In a double-blind placebo-controlled study of 120 subjects, participants using Copper Fit Professional Relief Smart Balm obtained pain relief in their neck, shoulders, upper back area within 5 to 7 minutes, which was significantly greater than the participants who did not use Copper Fit Professional Relief Smart Balm.” Here is a link to the original study which we actually had to manually search for in Google as it wasn't on the Smart Balm website.
However, after reading through the study’s results, we learned that there were three products tested in the study: Ben-Gay Ultra Strength Muscle Pain Ointment, Professional Therapy MuscleCare Roll-on, and Motion Medicine Cream. In other words, Copper Fit Smart Balm wasn’t tested.
With this said, Smart Balm may contain many of the same ingredients as the Professional Therapy MuscleCare Roll-on, although there weren’t any ingredients listed on the product’s website to verify this.
As such, unless Smart Balm is a rebranded version of one of these products and despite the manufacturer’s claims, it doesn’t appear to have been clinically tested.
Will Smart Balm Cause Side Effects?
When applied topically, it appears that most user shouldn’t experience any kinds of side effects, other than perhaps temporary redness in the application area.
Other Topical Pain Relievers
As we alluded to in the Clinical section above, there are dozens of topical pain relievers available for you to choose from, available online as well as at local retailers. In fact, when you consider Copper Fit Smart Balm’s non-refundable S&H charges (more about this in a moment), these options will likely be priced much lower.
Smart Balm’s Arbitration Won’t Relieve Your Pain
Finally, it’s important to note that any orders placed through the Copper Fit Smart Balm website are automatically bound to an arbitration agreement. If you were to experience any damages from using this product, your legal recourse would be restricted, including becoming part of a class action lawsuit or jury by trial.
More about Copper Fit Smart Balm’s Manufacturer
Copper Fit Smart Balm is manufactured by Idea Village, one of the larger “As Seen on TV” companies who manufactures dozens of popular ASOTV products, including Yes! by Finishing Touch, Micro Touch One Razor, and the entire line of Copper Fit compression products. In fact, Smart Balm appears to be a rebranded version of Copper Fit Gel.
Among hundreds of HighYa reader reviews for these products, they have an average rating of 1.5 stars, with common complaints citing failure to work as advertised, poor quality, and difficult customer service experiences.
Granted, you may not experience any of this with Copper Fit Smart Balm, although it’s certainly something worth keeping in mind.
The Smart Balm Pricing & Refund Policy
One tube (no size indicated) of Smart Balm is priced at $14.99 plus $4.99 S&H. You’ll also be able to double the size of your bottle at checkout for an additional $9.99 S&H. Again, no size is indicated, so there’s no way to tell if this is a solid deal.
Copper Fit Smart Balm comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. In order to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 855-818-8300.
Can Smart Balm Roll Away Your Pain?
Once you sweep away all the marketing hype and gigantic claims for Copper Fit Smart Balm, you’re left with a clinically unsubstantiated product that closely mirrors dozens upon dozens of products already available through your local pharmacy.
Because of this, as well as the amount of money you’ll lose in non-refundable S&H charges, we’d strongly recommend exploring local pain reliever options before placing your Smart Balm order.
