About Epil Egg

Epil Egg is an “As Seen on TV” epilator that’s claimed to quickly, easily, and painlessly remove single hair strands from your face, neck, underarms, and legs, with pinpoint accuracy, while keeping your skin soft for weeks. In addition, Epil Egg is claimed to be faster than regular tweezing, safer than shaving with a razor, and less painful than waxing.

In order to accomplish this, the Epil Egg hair removal system uses a single-head tweezer attachment to remove longer hairs at the root, as well as a shaving head attachment for use on delicate areas.

Before you place your Epil Egg order though, there are some key factors you should keep in mind. These include:

Is the Epil Egg Painful?

Despite the manufacturer’s claims otherwise, the fact of the matter is that the Epil Egg (or any brand of epilator, for that matter) contains a fast-spinning head with little “tweezers” that quickly pluck hair from the root. As such, it almost certainly won’t be pain free.

Granted, everyone’s pain tolerance is different, so what you might find mildly annoying another user might find excruciating. With this said, this article provides some fairly decent tips to help you reduce epilator-related pain.

Regardless of your pain threshold though, epilators such as Epil Egg will almost always cause some temporary swelling and redness in the areas where hair is pulled, so you’ll definitely want to keep this in mind if you’re doing some quick touch-ups prior to an evening out.

How Long Will Epil Egg’s Results Last?

Just like every person experiences pain differently, everyone’s hair grows at different rates and thicknesses, which becomes apparent on their body at different times.

As such, if you have pale skin and dark, course hair, it’s very likely that you’ll need to reapply the Epil Egg much sooner than someone who has darker skin and/or fine, light-colored hair.

In general though, since it takes 2-4 weeks for your hair to regrow after being removed at the root, this is roughly how long you can expect Epil Egg’s results to last.

Similar Options to Epil Egg

Although Epil Egg’s manufacturer might make the device seem revolutionary, this is far from the case. Why? Because there are dozens of nearly identical options from which you can choose, including EpiSmooth, Epilique, EpiTouch, Tweeze, and many more, which you can see for yourself by typing the phrase “electronic tweezer” or “epilator” into your favorite search engine.

In fact, these types of epilators are so popular that you’ll almost certainly find dozens of options locally, whether at a beauty supply store or a nearby big box retailer. On top of this, many of these options will be less expensive than Epil Egg, considering its high, non-refundable S&H charges (more about this in the Pricing section).

No Online Customer Reviews for Epil Egg

Being such a new product, there weren’t any online customer reviews available for Epil Egg at the time of our research.

However, Epil Egg is manufactured by Telebrands, one of the major players in the “As Seen on TV” industry, who also makes the Hurricane 360 Spin Mop, Mighty Blaster, and Ped Egg. According to more than 250 HighYa reader reviews for these, they held an average rating of 2 stars, with common complaints citing failure to work as advertised, poor quality, and difficult customer service experiences.

Telebrands also had a C rating with the Better Business Bureau based on 1,240 closed complaints (as of 6/30/15), most of which referenced the same concerns noted above. The company was also investigated by the NJ Attorney General’s office in 2014 for violating the Consumer Fraud Act, and their BBB accreditation was revoked due to the number and consistency of customer complaints.

Granted, this doesn’t mean you’ll experience the same with Epil Egg, although it’s certainly something to keep in mind.

Epil Egg Pricing & Refund Policy

One Epil Egg system is priced at $19.99 plus $7.99 S&H, although you’ll be able to order a second at checkout for an additional $9.99 S&H. However, this option wasn’t presented when we attempted to check out.

Regardless of the number you order, each Epil Egg system will come with a single head tweezer and shaving head attachment.

Epil Egg comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. This means that if you choose the BOGO option, you could lose more in S&H charges than you’ll receive as a refund by the time everything’s said and done.

With this in mind, if you’d like to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 855-668-1655.

Should Epil Egg Be Your Next Hair Removal System?

Chopping to the point: As we’ve mentioned in many of our other epilator reviews, with so many local options available, as well as the fact that Epil Egg doesn’t appear to offer anything especially unique, it’s our opinion that you should explore nearby retailers before placing your Epil Egg order.

At the very least, this can help you avoid losing cash on non-refundable S&H charges if you’re dissatisfied, make the return process as simple as hopping in your car, and can potentially help you avoid a frustrating customer service experience.
