About GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20
GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower is a battery-powered lawn mower the makers say is a quiet, eco-friendly way to cut the grass. They tout its 40Volt Li-Ion battery system gives you 70 minutes of mow time, the 20-inch deck is perfect for mid-sized areas, and SMART CUT technology automatically adjusts based on grass thickness that will make trimming your lawn enjoyable and stress-free without using gas or electricity.
GreenWorks is a tool company based in North Carolina that claims it is committed to helping the environment. They say they do this by selling Energy-Star-approved batteries and zero-emission trimmers, cutters, and blowers. However, there is no information or rating on the company from the BBB.
How GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower Works
GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower is like the Prius of mowers. This particular model is a bright green and comes with 2 batteries (high capacity 4Ah and low capacity 2Ah) and charger. They claim these can be used separately or together and the mower will automatically switch between the two; a 2nd 4Ah can be purchased separately for up to 2 hours of continuous mowing.
Other features GreenWorks highlights include 5 cutting height levels from 1 3/8 – 3 3/8 inches, 2 10-inch blades offering a 20-inch cutting deck, 2-in-1 feature allows for rear-bagging and mulching capabilities (with 2.2 bushel capacity) and a weight of 42.5 lbs. which they say is half the weight of its gas-powered counterpart.
They promise GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower is as easy to use as a regular mower, minus the noise, gas fumes, and harmful emissions.
The Lawn Mower Pricing, Warranty, and Returns
GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower sells for $349.00 plus shipping fees, which depends on location and delivery date.
GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower has a 4-year warranty for parts and a 2-year warranty for the batteries. A call to customer service explained that this is only for manufacturer defects and not customer misuse. If a battery is replaced within this time, we were told the new battery would also have a 2-year warranty. If a part, such as the motor, needed to be replaced within the 4-year period, the new part would only be warrantied for the remainder of the 4-year term. We were told there was no limit on the number of parts warrantied during this time period.
GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower has a 30-day return policy, minus shipping/handling, what it costs in postage to send back, and a 10% restocking fee.
Bottom Line: Is GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower a Scam?
GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower is a very popular product with a lot of passionate, satisfied customers. As of this writing (August 2014) there were 311 reviews on Amazon, with an average of a 4-star rating. Consumers generally praised its light weight, battery life, and quiet operation.
However, there were complaints that the cutting area is too small, the mower needs multiple passes to smoothly cut, and that it won’t cut tall weeds or grass. It was also mentioned that the dual-blade option is not as effective as a single-blade, some of its parts (like the foam handles) break easily, and that it is expensive for what it offers. Big issues mentioned in the negative reviews were charging/recharging problems and delivery/availability of replacement parts.
Overall, it seems if you are looking for a more “green” way to cut grass and not use gas, you may want to consider the GreenWorks Twin Force G-Max 20 Lawn Mower for the job.

Since there are no reviews for this particular product, I thought I would leave a review for our Greenworks products that we currently have. We have a mower, a tiller, and a weed trimmer that are all ELECTRIC. We've had them going on three years now and love them. They are hard working machines. Customer service seems to be up to date and reliable, we had to get one replacement part for the mower at no fault of the mower. We are planning on purchasing a snow thrower before this winter too. We like the electric Greenworks line!
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
