Made by Skinny Body Care, HiBurn8 claims to be a sugar free, naturally flavored nighttime liquid supplement that can help you manage your appetite, relieve stress, sleep better, and manage your weight.
All you have to do is take one tablespoon of HiBurn8 on an empty stomach before bed (2-3 hours after eating), and the company promises its powerful, cutting edge ingredients will provide your body with the building blocks it needs for optimal weight management. You might even be able to eliminate late night snacking!
Taken together, this is why the manufacturer claims HiBurn8 can help you “manage your weight for 8 hours while you sleep great.”
Is this really the case, though? Can you really expect HiBurn8 to work anywhere near as well as the company makes it seem? Is there anything “breakthrough” about its ingredients? Even then, will it be worth your money? We’ll break it all down in this review.
To kick things off, let’s take a look at the relationship between sleep and weight loss.
Is There a Link Between Sleep & Weight Management?
Most experts recommend getting between 7.5 and 9 hours of sleep every night, which can provide immense benefits when it comes to memory, learning, overall health, sexual function, pain control, and much more. But did you know that lack of sleep (even an hour too little!) can wreak havoc on your weight loss efforts, too?
This is because—like nearly every other aspect of human functioning—too little sleep affects our weight from multiple angles, including:
- Poor decisionmaking and impulse control
- Increased reward center activity
- Increased ghrelin and reduced leptin levels, leading your body to think it’s hungry and often causing you to overeat. You’ll also feel less satisfied after eating.
- Decreased ability to produce insulin, which means many of the calories you eat end up being stored as fat instead of burned as energy
Given all of this, there’s little doubt that you can sabotage even the best-planned diet simply by not getting enough Zs. Why go through all that effort during the day, only to make up for that hard work (and then some) just because you’re not getting adequate sleep?
Is there anything in HiBurn8 that can help?
Are HiBurn8’s Ingredients Effective?
After picking through HiBurn8’s website and 4-minute commercial, here’s what we learned the supplement contains:
- Hydrolyzed collagen
- Garcinia cambogia
- Licorice root
- Lemon balm
Let’s break down each of these.
Although collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, and is responsible for many things (including signs of aging), the problem is that once collagen enters your stomach, your digestive enzymes break it down into amino acids, which are then distributed throughout your body. As such, there’s no way to actually increase collagen in your body through an oral supplement (liquid or otherwise), and there’s little-to-no evidence showing collagen can improve your sleep or weight management.
Chamomile is listed as “possibly effective” for reducing anxiety and depression, while melatonin supplementation may help relieve specific types of insomnia, especially those related to delayed sleep phase syndrome, sleep-wake cycle disturbances, beta-blocker drugs, and for insomnia not related to medical or environmental causes. However, the effect tends to be very mild (for example, for primary insomnia, melatonin has only be shown to help individuals fall asleep about 12 minutes faster), although it doesn’t appear to affect sleep quality or time spent sleeping.
Ginseng may provide a variety of potential benefits, including addressing some cognitive diseases and boosting mental function, although there doesn’t appear to be anything directly related to sleep. Important note: This is only the case for Panax (Asian) ginseng, and not necessarily for other types.
WebMD mentions that aloe may be effective for insomnia: “Research suggests that taking a specific aloe product (Aloe QDM complex, Univera Inc., Seoul, South Korea) containing 147 mg of aloe gel twice daily for 8 weeks reduces body weight and fat mass in overweight or obese people with diabetes or prediabetes.”
Finally, lemon balm may help reduce anxiety and stress, along with the length and quality of sleep for those with insomnia.
Outside of this, there appears to be insufficient clinical evidence showing that any of HiBurn8’s other ingredients will help improve sleep or improve weight loss results.
Taking everything together, at least a couple of HiBurn8’s ingredients may be effective for helping individuals with insomnia, excess stress, and anxiety. The problem is that the manufacturer doesn’t provide a supplement label, so there’s no way to know how much of each ingredient it contains, or whether or not this would be enough to provide any benefits.
Potential HiBurn8 Side Effects
For the most part, if you experience any side effect from HiBurn8’s ingredients at all, it probably won’t be anything worse than mild digestive upset.
However, keep in mind that chamomile is in the same family as ragweed, marigolds, and daisies, which may cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
In addition, although short-term melatonin use is thought to be generally safe, long-term use may cause “headache, short-term feelings of depression, daytime sleepiness, dizziness, stomach cramps, and irritability.” Similarly, long-term (more than 6 months) ginseng supplementation “may have some hormone-like effects that could be harmful with prolonged use.”
How much will you pay for these ingredients?

How does this stack up against the competition?
Are There Other Sleep-Based Weight Loss Supplements Like HiBurn8?
The medical community has long understood the relationship between proper sleep and ideal health (including healthy weight), so you’ll find hundreds of different supplements online that claim to improve your sleep while boosting your weight loss results. Granted, not all of these supplements will feature the same ingredients formulation as HiBurn8, and you’ll find them in all different price ranges—from less expensive than HiBurn8, to much, much more expensive.
Can you expect these other options to be as effective as HiBurn8? We’ll answer this question in just a second, but first, let’s find out who manufactures this supplement.
Who Makes the HiBurn8 Supplement?
Many MLM and commission-based companies like Skinny Body Care use independent affiliates to actively market their products, who then often create websites that are intended to look like legitimate customer reviews, but which often aren’t more than marketing hype from the company. In fact, of the two customer reviews here on HighYa for Skinny Fiber (2-star rating at the time of our research), one mentioned that they’d love to read some reviews from real customers, versus those from commissioned distributors.
Outside of these, we didn’t come across any legitimate customer reviews for any of the company’s other supplements, including HiBurn8. We did learn that Skinny Body Care had an X Better Business Bureau rating based on 17 closed complaints (ad of 4/20/16).
Will HiBurn8 Help You Sleep Better & Lose Weight?
Look, there’s no doubt that weight loss is a battle that must be fought on many different fronts; exercise, nutrition, psychology, and proper sleeping habits, to name just a few. If one of these aspects is off, it can wreak havoc on your weight loss transformation, even if you’re spot on in every other aspect.
With this said, based on the clinical evidence available for HiBurn8’s 11 different ingredients, it appears that only a handful will provide reliable results—however mild they may be. On top of this, these benefits are mostly applicable to sleep and anxiety, not to weight loss. Granted, this seems to be the case with most sleep-related weight loss supplements we’ve reviewed, and isn’t especially unique to HiBurn8.
Taken together, this leads us to believe that HiBurn8 might not be as much of a “breakthrough” as the manufacturer might want you to think. So, whether you’re suffering from insomnia or poor quality sleep, or just can’t seem to shed those unwanted pounds, you could get much more bang-for-your-buck by speaking with your physician, who can recommend specific tactics to help you lose weight—and get a good night’s sleep—based on your specific diagnosis.
