About Hot Fusion Brush

Everyone who’s ever sat in a stylist’s chair has wished they could reproduce the same professional-looking blowout at home, and the “As Seen On TV” Hot Fusion Brush promises to do just this by taking users “from frizz to fabulous in just minutes.”

Hot brushes help users by combining the functionality of a blow dryer and brush into one device, leaving you with a spare hand for easier styling. They’ve been on the market for a while and promoted as a great alternative to flat irons and curling irons, especially when trying to achieve a style with volume and shape.

Yet anyone who’s struggled with a tangled mane, kinked locks, split ends or heat damage from inferior tools can vouch for the importance of a high-quality dryer and brush. A great blow dryer allows you to control heat settings, offers at least 1,000 watts of styling power, and preferably has a “cool” function to set your style.

But at first pass, the Hot Fusion Brush doesn’t appear to offer any of these functions. Additionally, the product gives very limited information as to the level of quality it offers, which is important for protecting your hair.

There are two important elements to a hot brush: its ability to produce non-damaging heat and the quality of the brush. Let’s take a look at how the Hot Fusion brush stacks up on both.

How Hot Can the Hot Fusion Brush Get?

The Hot Fusion Brush doesn’t let you know how powerful it is, and there’s no mention of heat settings or cooling options. It does claim to use “exclusive black tourmaline” heated to 400 degrees, in order to create frizz-fighting molecules.

Now, the term tourmaline gets thrown around often when speaking about hair styling tools, but just what is it and why is it so desirable?

Tourmaline is a crystal boron silicate mineral that aids in the hair smoothing process. It emits negative ions that counteract the positive ions present in dry or damaged hair, resulting in smooth, shiny hair. The tourmaline is added to ceramic plates in styling tools by first being crushed into a fine powder, which is then baked into the plates or dryer coils to help to seal moisture into your hair and counteract frizz.

Getting Bristly

The brush portion of the Hot Fusion device offers users a classic round brush shape, with bristles that wrap halfway around the device (the other half features vents for air intake). Here, it uses nylon bristles, but there is no mention of how soft or firm these bristles are.

“Nylon” is also a catchphrase that can include plastic, nylon, rubber or similar materials. Understanding more about your brush’s bristles gives you a better idea as to how much control the tool offers you when trying to achieve your desired style.

What You Get with the Hot Fusion Brush

The Hot Fusion brush is available for $19.99 (with free S&H) and comes with:

  • One Hot Fusion Brush
  • A Bonus Traveling Case

While there is a customer service contact number listed, there’s no mention of a warranty on the Hot Fusion Brush website.

Is Hot Fusion Brush Just a Bunch of Hot Air?

Since the Hot Fusion Brush isn’t branded by a manufacturer, finding mention of it in a market flooded with hair tools proved impossible at the time of our research. Additionally, the product lacks many of the features that denote a quality hair styling tool, including:

  • The ability to adjust temperature.
  • Ensuring even heat distribution.
  • Cordless or long-cable options that allow easy manipulation.
  • A warranty, showing faith in the product’s quality.

Finally, the Hot Fusion Brush sets off a few red flags by not mentioning the word “hair” on their site - not even once! Additionally, the Hot Fusion Brush appears to play off of bigger brand’s popularity by:

  • Using big, “sciencey” words without explanations.
  • Failing to offer a warranty to show faith in their product.
  • A lack of information on what type of hair it’s best suited for, and how to achieve your desired style.

At $19.95, the Hot Fusion brush has some stiff styling competition against name-brand tools that are priced between $12 and $65 at any local store. Considering that no guarantee is given as to its quality, buyers might consider taking other tools for a spin instead.

Don't buy this product, unless you enjoy being scammed!

I ordered this product, and it doesn't come close to giving the results it claims. I don't know how they make it look like it works, but I can assure you, it does NOT work! In addition, watch our for the fine print, because you will start to automatically receive a small container of the styling gel (4oz) every month at the cost of $19.99 + shipping per month, even though I was sure that I only ordered the brush. When you try to return it, you will have to pay almost $8.00 in shipping, this company will not cover that at all. I also tried to return the brush, and the woman I spoke to was very aggressive and said that if I didn't want it, I should give it away as a gift, along with many other objections to my desire to return it.

It doesn't work, and returning the product is very hard and not worth the heartburn. My suggestion is, shop at a local beauty shop, where you can easily return the product if you are not satisfied.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Very pleased with brush

    • Gardners, PA,
    • Feb 24, 2016

My hair is extremely long and has turned frizzy after having many surgeries. Evidently, anesthesia can screw with your hair.

Anyway, I just bought this brush after seeing an ad on Facebook.

Very fast shipping. It took maybe three days from the day I ordered it.

Without any styling product in my hair, the brush straightened it after working it through my hair for several minutes. I cannot believe how much better it looks. I think if I had some kind of styling gel or creme in my hair, it would look even better!

It does take time. It does not instantly straighten.

I always have my hair up in a bun because it is so frizzy and unmanageable. I actually think I will be able to wear it down now. My hair is very long. Almost to my waist. This was a great purchase for me.

    Not a happy customer

I ordered the Hot Fusion Brush for Christmas, and of course, received it after the holidays. This brush made my hair so frizzy, but the main problem I had with it was it kept getting tangled up in my hair, and I couldn't get the brush out of my hair. Maybe it wasn't supposed to be used like a curling iron, but how was I supposed to know? It didn't come with any instructions either. My 17 year old granddaughter tried to use it as well, and she wasn't impressed, and it also made her hair frizzy. I thought something good would come from this product, but it didn't. Don't waste your money, and save yourself from dealing with the hassle of trying to return it.

    Had such high hopes

    • Courtland, CA,
    • Feb 10, 2016

I always shy away from promotions on Facebook but was tempted by this. First off, it never gets as hot as they say, and my curly frizzy hair, comes out straight and frizzy. Tried to leave information but mail not delivered. Just another disappointing product. When will they create something that actually works?

    Shady Company

I purchased the Hot Fusion Brush and unfortunately it did not work for my hair. I returned it well within the 30 days, spoke to a customer service representative and received my RMA. It was delivered on December 30th and they still charged me on January 4th. I paid for the return shipping via priority shipping with delivery confirmation. I should not have been charged. I called them to inquire as to why this happened, and was told they had to investigate. I had the tracking number with delivery as confirmed, and should not of been charged. The status of this order should have been checked before charging my card. I did all the necessary steps to try their so called "free trial".

    What a waste of money

    • Roanoke, VA,
    • Jan 8, 2016

This was at the top of my Christmas list this year, and I have never been more disappointed in any product more than this one. It is terrible. It makes your hair flat and still keeps the frizz in it too. What a terrible piece of junk.

Hot Fusion - I think not.

    • Atlanta, GA,
    • Dec 29, 2015

I received my Hot Fusion Brush yesterday and decided to try it out this morning. My hair is naturally curly and frizzy but I had straightened it with my flat iron the day before. So this morning I had bed head and wanted to try out my brush. It did pretty much nothing to my hair and I had to keep going over the same spot to see a result. The result was not good and in the end I got my blow dryer out and fixed my hair. I would not recommend this product. Very disappointed as I thought this would be a great styling tool. Sadly it is just the opposite.

    Free shipping

    • Grand Rapids, MN,
    • Dec 29, 2015

I ordered this product and was charged $29.00, plus I was told it was free shipping. They charged my account $35.98 and $5.99 for processing and handling. The product is ok, but that is false advertising! I called and asked to speak to a manager and the man said no that's what you were supposed to pay. Total frustration. I could have bought another product with the $15.99. Scam, beware.

    Hot Fusion Brush

    • East Orange, NJ,
    • Dec 23, 2015

I thought this would be a nice gift for my daughter. She wears straight hair most of the time. No matter how much wrapping and twirling up she does, the frizz attack prevails. She loves it! It gets rid of the frizz and eliminates the use of her flat iron and curler. It gives her just enough body to give her hair bounce and she can travel with it easily. I should have brought one for myself.

    Love it

    • Washington, DC,
    • Dec 22, 2015

I love this brush. I've been looking for a product that smooths flyways and cowlicks. For me, this product is replacing my flat iron and curling brush. Once my hair is dry I run this through my hair from underneath to give my uneven waves a more even look. I use it to turn under my ends in the back (curling iron is too curly, flat iron is too flay). Then I use it to smooth out my cowlick to the left of my forehead. The styling I've been trying to accomplish for years on a consistent basis is now a reality.
