About Hot N' Straight
Hot N' Straight is a professional-grade heated brush that uses ionic ceramic bristles to produce “moist heat,” which can straighten your hair, eliminate frizz, create volume, and leave you with a lustrous shine.
Regardless of the type of hair you have, Hot N’ Straight works in minutes, is quick and easy to use, and can help you save money on expensive salon visits. Which is why the manufacturer claims that Hot N’ Straight can give you “salon quality hair in no time.”
Tired of wasting time with a blow-dryer, or potentially damaging your hair with a straight iron? But unsure how you can achieve the same results quickly and safely? Will you find the perfect middle ground with Hot N’ Straight, or is it just junk that’ll leave you feeling scammed?
To answer all your questions, let’s starting by taking a look at how hot brushes like Hot N’ Straight work.
What Are Ionic Ceramic Bristles? Do They Work?
Like ionic hair dryers or other ionic styling tools (more about this next), Hot N’ Straight’s ionic bristles work by interacting with your hair on a molecular level to change it to a negative or positive charge.
Or, as the Self article above puts it, these ionic charges “help certain hair care products work better and the water in wet hair is positive; ionic dryers that emit negative ions cause globs of H2O molecules to divide into smaller particles that evaporate faster.” In other words, ionic styling tools are able to better dry your hair without causing heat damage.
However, the key here is that, in order to gain any advantages from an ionic styling tool, your hair needs to be wet. And if it’s not (as in all the demonstrations in the Hot N’ Straight commercial), these ions won’t provide any benefits.
What about Hot N’ Straight’s ceramic bristles? Ceramic (or another material called tourmaline) is often used in these devices to help them heat up faster, but won’t provide any direct benefits for your hair.
Speaking of other products, is there anything else available like Hot N’ Straight?
Hot N’ Straight’s Competition
Like most ASOTV products, Hot N’ Straight’s manufacturer would probably like for you to think that their device is revolutionary, when it’s actually just a slightly redesigned version of existing products.
In fact, if you’ve been styling your hair for very long, you almost certainly recognize that there are hundreds (if not thousands) of products out there just like Hot N’ Straight. Don’t believe us? Try typing the phrase “ionic hair brush” or “heated hair brush” into any search engine, and watch how many results pull up.
Products like Hot N’ Straight are even so popular you can avoid shopping online and pay a quick visit to your closest big box retailer, who’ll almost certainly have at least a couple options available.
And compared to all these other options, other than slight design changes, there doesn’t appear to be anything meaningfully different (or more effective) about Hot N’ Straight.
How about from a price perspective? Does Hot N’ Straight have any advantages there? Let’s take a look.
How Does Hot N’ Straight’s Price Stack Up?
One Hot N’ Straight ionic styler will cost you $39.95, plus free S&H.
If you searched online for other ionic or heated brushes in the previous section, you probably noticed that this seems to be a middle-of-the-road price compared to the competition. In other words, you’ll find many options that are priced lower and higher than Hot N’ Straight.
All Hot N’ Straight stylers come with a 90-day refund policy, less S&H charges. In order to request one, you’ll need to call customer service at 844-764-4365.
A Note About Hot N’ Straight’s Arbitration
Before moving on, it’s important to mention that all Telebrands products (more next) sold online come with an arbitration agreement. What’s this?
Basically, it means that you’re waiving almost all of your legal rights if you were to experience damages (whether physical or financial) from using Hot N’ Straight, including a trial by jury or joining a class action lawsuit.
Is Hot N’ Straight a Quality Product?
Telebrands, as the largest company in the As Seen on TV industry, which has been in business more than 30 years, makes dozens of popular products, including Pocket Hose Ultra, Trusty Cane, Hurricane 360 Spin Mop, and many others. Do they make quality products? Are customers pleased with their experiences?
Based on well over 200 HighYa reader reviews, these products had an average rating of 1.5 stars. Why? Common complaints referenced low quality, that these didn’t work as advertised, and that customer service was less-than-stellar (typically difficulty processing refunds and constant upselling during calls).
Telebrands also had a C- rating with the Better Business Bureau (up from a D rating several months prior) based on a whopping 1,105 complaints, as of 12/10/15. There, most complaints seem to reference the same concerns noted above.
Pro tip: Technically, the company behind Hot N’ Straight is Espleé, which appears to just be a division of Telebrands. Espleé also makes another product named Personal Mani, which comes with similarly low online customer feedback.
Is this what you can reasonably expect with Hot N’ Straight? As such a new product, there’s no way to be sure, but we’d definitely consider it important during the decision-making process.
Bringing It All Together: Should You Buy Hot N’ Straight?
Will Hot N’ Straight work as well as the manufacturer claims? It’s certainly possible. But although the product’s performance is certainly important, in this instance, we think it’s more a question of overall value.
In other words, considering the sheer number of nearly identical products as Hot N’ Straight, whether online or at local retailers, it might be difficult to justify rolling the dice on a largely unknown product from a company with mixed online customer ratings.
Our recommendation? We’d suggest researching local options first, which could give you a better idea of what’s out there, along with allowing you to put your hands on the product before making a purchase. And if you’re not happy with its performance, this also means that processing a refund is quick and easy, without any additional S&H charges.

Worked on my 4C African American hair!
I just used the Hot N' Straight hair straightening brush and I was actually pretty surprised at how well it works! I was VERY skeptical because I have 4c African American hair, it's very coarse, dry and thick but this brush it made it very straight. Is it bone straight? No, but it's pretty straight. If you want bone straight hair use a flat iron but this is very good and I would recommend it.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
