About Hydroblast PRO

The HydroBlast PRO is claimed to be a revolutionary cordless water flosser that eliminates up to 99.9% of plaque in seconds, and is clinically proven to twice as effective as string flossing, but without causing painful or bleeding gums. Despite its power, the HydroBlast PRO is claimed to be safe for crowns, bridges, and braces, and is even easy for kids to use—just fill up and floss.

In order to accomplish this, the HydroBlast PRO’s Power Pulse Action is claimed to spray 1,600 bursts of water per minute that blast away debris and plaque buildup between teeth, as well as below the gum line. The HydroBlast PRO is claimed to come with standard and high-pressure tips for maximum comfort and 360-degree rotation for easy reach, and only needs to be used for 1 minute per day in order to achieve whiter teeth and fresher breath.

You’ve probably heard a lot about the benefits water irrigation systems can provide, but you don’t want to pay the prices associated with some of the other brands. But can the HydroBlast PRO provide comparable cleaning at a lower price? Perhaps, but consider the following prior to placing your order:

The Nitty-Gritty Details About HydroBlast PRO

Most importantly, when deciding which water flosser to buy, it’s important to keep in mind that it’s less about the number of water blasts they provide per minute than it is about the water pressure. After all, if the water pressure isn’t high enough, less debris and plaque will be removed, regardless of how many times the water shoots at your teeth and gums.

With this said, most water irrigation systems from mainstream manufacturers range between 10 and 90 psi, which is typically achieved on portable models like the HydroBlast PRO by changing tips. However, there’s no indication on the product’s website what psi it operates at. Regardless, there doesn’t seem to be a professional consensus about which psi is best for removing plaque and debris, and appears to be based more on personal preference.

Whatever water pressure the HydroBlast PRO provides though, keep in mind that water flossers are intended to supplement string flossing, not replace it, as they can’t reach into some of the tight spaces between teeth that floss can.

Is HydroBlast PRO Clinically Proven?

Although the HydroBlast PRO claims to be clinically proven to remove twice as much plaque as string flossing, the manufacturer doesn’t provide any references to back up this claim. However, we were able to locate a study featured on the Waterpik website that outlines this, as well as another study claiming to be 51% more effective at reducing gingivitis, and a third claiming to be 3X more effective at removing plaque around braces.

In fact, many of the claims made on the HydroBlast website are essentially identical to those made regarding some of Waterpik’s portable models, but without any proof to back them up.

Not All Demonstrations Are What They Seem

Next, if you watched the HydroBlast PRO’s commercial, you might recall seeing a model using red dye to identify the areas of plaque on her teeth, and then her demonstrating how floss alone can’t remove it. Then, the model is shown using the HydroBlast PRO to remove all the red dye, leading you to believe that all that plaque simply washed away.

However, keep in mind this is only because the water contained in the HydroBlast PRO is washing away the dye, and not necessarily removing any plaque.

HydroBlast PRO Pricing & Refund Policy

2 HydroBlast PROs are priced at $19.95 plus $17.90 S&H, which will include a free HydroBlast brush head.

As with most ASOTV products, the HydroBlast PRO comes with come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges.

Important note: This means that if you’re dissatisfied with your HydroBlast PRO and decide to return it, by the time you factor in return shipping to the manufacturer, you could end up spending more in S&H charges than you’ll receive as a refund. This is something we discuss in detail in our “As Seen On TV” Buyer’s Guide.

In order to begin the refund process, you’ll need to contact customer service at 844-795-4473.

Can the HydroBlast PRO Give You Better Oral Health for Less Money?

Chopping to the Point: Although there weren’t any online HydroBlast PRO consumer reviews available at the time of our research, it appears that customers who purchased water irrigation devices from mainstream manufacturers were pleased with their performance and with the oral health benefits they provided. With this said, without providing any specifications, it’s impossible to say whether or not the HydroBlast PRO will perform as well as some of its competition.

However, keep in mind that even though HydroBlast PRO appears to be priced much lower than some of the competition, by the time you factor in S&H costs, you’ll be able to find similar battery-powered models from mainstream manufacturers such as Waterpik, Sonicare, Panasonic, and more, for about the same price. And in some instances, for less.

Considering all these factors, you might try purchasing a water flosser from a better known manufacturer at a local retailer. This way, if you’re dissatisfied with its performance, you can easily return it without losing a good chunk of change in S&H charges.

    Malfunctioned Hydroblast pro

My son received a Hydroblast Pro as a Christmas gift from his grandmother in the mail. The Hydroblast Pro was a blessing as it inspired my 14 year old with braces to floss his teeth regularly. We really enjoyed the Hydroblast Pro until the batteries needed to be replaced. After replacing the batteries, the Hydroblast Pro has not worked. I have tried every configuration and followed directions carefully, but the Hydroblast Pro will not power up or work.

Sent this email to customer service and heard nothing!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Uh Oh! I missed something important. However...

    • Daphne, AL,
    • Jan 25, 2016

I received this as a Christmas present, and like all of the other reviewers, mine WOULDN'T WORK. The batteries were brand new and showed full charge on two battery testers. So, because it would cost more to send it back than it was worth, I decided to take it apart and have a look.

After it was all apart I figured out the problem, and that it wasn't necessary to take it apart to find it: I put one battery in backwards. When I first installed the batteries, I couldn't find a + or - indicator, so I ASSUMED the negative terminals should make contact with the spring (battery compartment has two slots for AAs, each with a spring contact at the bottom). Then I found the + and - indicators stamped (lightly) on the metal contact points inside the battery compartment door. Easy to miss. When I installed the batteries correctly, the pump motor ran. Unfortunately, my disassembly was too destructive to reassemble the device, so I don't feel right giving a very bad rating. (Sigh.)

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    We Love It!

    • Birmingham, Al,
    • Jan 18, 2016

When I first purchased it I was skeptical about how it would work. I never saw a commercial. I purchased it from the local Rite-Aid.

I have to disagree with the other reviews listed here. It is a good product depending on how you use it and what you are using it for.

You can put your mouthwash in it and brush your teeth, using the mouthwash to rinse while you brush you teeth. No it is not that good a flossing for you. I don't recommend replacing the regular flossing method over anything that says it can replace that.

This method is good, to clean before a regular brushing. It leaves the mouth really fresh.

Yes I would recommend this product to other customers, it depends on what you are looking for and how you use it.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    It worked one time.

    • Belleville, MI,
    • Jan 9, 2016

I received the Hydroblast PRO as a Christmas gift. I opened it up, put it together, put the batteries in, filled it up with water, cut it on, and used it. To my surprise it worked okay. The next day I went to use it and nothing. I changed the batteries even though I had only used it one time. I tried calling the customer service number and female representative to whom I was directed to said she had no information on The Hydroblast Pro product.

    Waste of $20 and time.

    • Jan 9, 2016

Wished I would've looked up the reviews on this product or I wouldn't have bought it. Did take 2 tries on 2 brand new sets of batteries for it to work. It squirts water everywhere BUT your mouth.

Didn't work out of the box.

    • Jan 8, 2016

I got as a gift for Christmas, it was ordered thru Bed, Bath and Beyond. Useless. Never moved a drop of water thru it. It's louder than my electric hedge clippers. I will never buy another as seen on TV product ever again, as everything I've ever got has had something stupid that breaks or doesn't live up to its claims, or just never shows up.

The product does not work, I tried seven packs of brand new batteries and it doesn't work!

    • Nescopeck, PA,
    • Nov 15, 2015

I bought the Hydroblast pro at Rite Aide pharmacy, I followed the instructions, hit the switch, and nothing. I purchased seven different packages of Duracell batteries and not one worked! The product is a waste of money, and false advertising on their part. Their product does not work. Thank you for a lousy product and losing money on a small income makes me feel great!

It was not working because the batteries were placed incorrectly. I changed the batteries around and no problem.

    No longer in business?

    • Kentucky,
    • Dec 18, 2014

Tried to order in December 2014 - after 10 days got an email saying the product is "no longer available". Tried to write to their customer service via website link: email came back undeliverable. They are either out of business or have very poor IT support. I am concerned that the whole order process was a phishing scam since the product continues to be advertised for sale on their website - will update if I find my credit card info has indeed been stolen.
