About La Mer

French for “in the sea,” La Mer is a luxury skincare products manufacturer that uses sea-based products to deliver highly active nutrients and antioxidants. Originally developed by Dr. Max Huber, an aerospace physicist, after a lab accident left his face severely burned, La Mer uses a blend of kelp and a proprietary fermentation process to produce its effective “Miracle Broth™.”

Dr. Huber continued to market and sell La Mer until his death, after which his daughter took over the family business. Eventually, the company was acquired by Estée Lauder in 1995, and has since become its signature product. As a result, La Mer can be purchased online and at traditional high-end retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Barney’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

La Mer seems to have a relatively positive reputation, with more than 103,000 Facebook likes, and good product reviews.

After your initial order, you’ll be given the opportunity to sign up for La Mer’s Replenishment service, which allows the products of your choice to be sent at regular intervals of 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, or 120 days. Standard shipping is always complimentary.
