About Lovebug Probiotics
After partnering with leading scientists, doctors, and medical experts, the makers of Lovebug Probiotics promise their supplements will deliver an “ideal combination” of probiotic strains that can provide a variety of benefits. Like what?
Lovebug’s five different probiotic formulas are intended to help do everything from bolster the immune system and address digestion issues, to relieve women-specific issues like yeast infections. To help you get the most from each dose, all of Lovebug’s probiotic also use patented Bio-tract® technology that can help bacteria survive the harsh journey through your stomach, while also time releasing the active ingredients.
Finally, Lovebug’s probiotics are free from GMOs, yeast, gluten, lactose, preservatives, and artificial colors. Each capsule is manufactured in the U.S.
While probiotics have been around for decades (more about this next), it seems like you can’t go 10 minutes without being told all the things these beneficial bacteria can do for you. But is there anything to these claims? If so, is there anything especially unique about Lovebug Probiotics that’s more deserving of your money?
We’re here to answer your questions, starting with what you’ll find in Lovebug’s lineup.
What Probiotic Formulas Does Lovebug Make?
As mentioned above, Lovebug manufactures five different probiotic supplements:
Each dose of Cold Sucks contains 10 billion CFU (colony forming units) of Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, Lactobacillus salivarius (don’t worry, we’ll talk about all these strains shortly).
You’ll also find vitamin C, echinacea, and zinc, which are purported to help your immune system reduce the severity and duration of your colds.
Here’s the Skinny
Again, you’ll find 10 billion CFUs in Here’s the Skinny formula, but with a greater number of strains. These include Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus reuteri, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, and Lactobacillus gasseri.
According to the company, this blend can relieve your sensitive tummy, increase energy levels, and improve mood. Specifically, it might help aid in digestion, as well as fight against candida, IBS, inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhea, constipation, and leaky gut.
This formula contains 3 billion CFU of Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium infantis, and Lactobacillus reuteri.
Instead of traditional capsules, the Little Ones probiotic comes in easy to swallow 6mm spheres the company claims are 15X more effective, making it ideal for children 4 years and older.
A 15 billion CFU proprietary blend of Lactobacillus casei Bifidobacterium infantis, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus gasseri, and Bifidobacterium longum.
These strains are delivered via a tasteless powder contained in stick packs, which can be added to food or drinks. Recommended for children ages 6 months to 4 years.
Yeast Is a Beast
Contains 10 billion CFU of Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus reuteri, Lactobacillus brevis, along with Cran-Gyn™, and Vitamin C.
Together, the company claims these ingredients may help prevent women-specific health issues like yeast infections and urinary tract infections, in addition to weight management and acne.
Are Lovebug’s Probiotic Formulas Effective?
The exact opposite of antibiotics, probiotics are beneficial strains of bacteria commonly found in the human digestive tract, which help regulate many different processes, such as absorbing nutrients from food, supporting immune system function, and much more.
Although probiotics have enjoyed a surge over popularity over the last several years, the reality is that they’ve been subject to a great deal of clinical scrutiny for decades. As a result, there are mountains of evidence indicating that they can help balance digestion, boost immune support, and increase energy levels.
Specifically though, some probiotic strains may provide specific benefits. For example, related to strains found in Lovebug’s probiotics:
- Bifidobacterium bifidum – May help reduce total cholesterol and reduce the length of hospital stays for children with acute diarrhea
- Bifidobacterium infantis – May help reduce symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Bifidobacterium lactis – May help reduce constipation in adults, reduce some UTI types in children, reduce total cholesterol, and reduce the risk of contracting an upper respiratory illness.
- Bifidobacterium longum – May help reduce radiation induced diarrhea and treating some gastrointestinal diseases.
- Lactobacillus acidophilus – One of the most popular probiotic strains, it may help address IBS and diarrhea, reduce vaginal bacteria infections, and provide some antifungal benefits.
- Lactobacillus brevis – This strain is especially good at thriving in the harsh intestinal environment.
- Lactobacillus fermentum – Another strain that may be helpful for reducing vaginal bacteria infections. It could also provide protection against staph infections and insulin resistance.
- Lactobacillus gasseri – You’ll find a lot of claims that this strain might help you lose weight. While there is some clinical evidence indicating this could be the case, much more research needs to be conducted before “proving” there’s a direct link between probiotics and weight loss.
- Lactobacillus paracasei – May help reduce diarrhea and protect against staph infection.
- Lactobacillus plantarum – This strain seems to be especially effective against IBS, Crohn’s disease, and colitis.
- Lactobacillus reuteri – Ideal for infants, this strain may help reduce gastrointestinal disorders and the duration of diarrhea.
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG – Another strain that’s often touted for its weight loss benefits, along with the ability to reduce allergic reactions and some skin conditions.
- Lactobacillus salivarius – May help treat IBS and pancreatic necrosis.
Outside of the strains, Lovebug Probiotics also contain Cran-Gyn, a proprietary cranberry-based ingredient manufactured by Valensa that’s supposed to “promote urinary tract health naturally and effectively by lowering the adhesion of bacteria for quick, harmless elimination.” However, the company doesn’t provide any clinical evidence to back this up.
Will You Experience Any Side Effects from Lovebug Probiotics?
As you might imagine, getting your gut in check might cause some temporary discomfort, such as mild digestive upset, gassiness, and bloating. As your digestive tract rebalances though, this should generally pass within a few days.
Side effects aside, how much will you pay for all these bacteria strains and other ingredients?

Considering all the strains they use and the prices at which they sell them, are Lovebug Probiotics popular with customers?
Are Lovebug Probiotics Getting Any Reviews?
On Amazon, Lovebug’s Here’s the Skinny Formula had well over 800 customer reviews at the time of our research, with a 4.7-star average rating. There, most customers seemed pleased with the positive benefits (better digestion, increased energy, etc.), ease of use, and quality ingredients.
On the other hand, what few negative reviews there were mostly referenced no noticeable effect.
Similarly, Lovebug’s Yeast Is a Beast had a 4.7-star rating, with many of the same compliments and complaints.
From a company perspective, Lovebug’s probiotics are manufactured by Lovebug Nutrition based out of NYC, although they weren’t listed with the Better Business Bureau and no additional information about them was available online.
How Does Lovebug Compare to Other Probiotics?
Because probiotics have become so popular, many existing supplements manufacturers have jumped on the bandwagon to offer their own versions. Completely new companies have also popped up (like Lovebug), all of which claim to outdo the competition in some way. This includes popular options like Probiotic America, ProbioSlim, PerfectBiotics, TruBiotics, and many more.
While each option will typically feature their own proprietary blend of probiotic strains and other ingredients (not to mention sometimes vastly different CFU counts), the reality is that there seems to be few meaningful differences in the results they deliver.
What about Lovebug’s Patented BIO-tract® delivery technology? As you research additional probiotics, you’ll soon learn that nearly everyone claims to provide some technology or strain to help bacteria survive stomach acid. So, again, while this is certainly a nice feature, it doesn’t seem meaningfully different than the competition.
Taking all of this together, should you buy Lovebug Probiotics?
Will You Love Lovebug Probiotics?
Founded by Ashley and Ben Harris, Lovebug Probiotics seems to be on a mission to help other achieve the same tummy relief that Ashley experienced soon after giving birth to her son. And from a marketing perspective (e.g. company name, attractive website, solid copy, great bottle design, etc.), they seem to be firing on all cylinders.
To top it off, Lovebug sells their probiotics for meaningfully less than much of the competition, and their supplements seem to be getting mostly rave reviews from customers.
Given this, it’s difficult to recommend not giving Lovebug probiotics a try—after all, they seem to be a legitimate company that firmly stands behind their products. Just keep in mind that you could be out a few bucks in S&H if you’re dissatisfied and decide to process a return.
