About Monster Lights
Unlike traditional nightlights, which may provide some light, but will leave areas under the bed or inside the closet looking dark and creepy, Monster Lights is claimed to be a set of remote controlled, multicolored, LED rope lights that add a nighttime glow around and below your bed.
Monster Lights is claimed to change between 16 different colors that can strobe and flash, which can help your child get a restful night’s sleep without being afraid, or help your teenager add some pizzazz to their personal space.
According to the manufacturer, Monster Lights is easy as 1, 2, and 3 to use:
- Peel the backing off of the adhesive strip.
- Stick underneath the bed, or anywhere else you’d like.
- Turn on the light and change the color using the wireless remote control.
As a parent, you hate seeing your child struggle with fear of the dark, and you may have tried everything to address the problem, but without any success. If this sounds like you, should you give Monster Lights a try, and is it worth your hard-earned money? Consider the following:
Will Monster Lights Keep Your Child Up at Night?
While the exact problem that’s causing your child to be afraid of the dark is specific to them and may require a different approach, it seems reasonable that by getting rid of darkness using something like Monster Lights, you’ll be minimizing their fear.
With this said, as a parent, you know how difficult it can be to get your child to fall asleep each night, even under the best of circumstances. As parents ourselves, we here at HighYa can imagine that the temptation to play with Monster Lights’ controller is difficult to resist, which could actually cause them to have trouble falling asleep, especially the younger they are. As such, it may be necessary to turn Monster Lights onto the appropriate setting and then take the remote with you as you leave the room.
What Happens if You Lose the Monster Lights Remote Control?
Speaking of remote controls, we have to wonder what would happen if you lost the one that operates your Monster Lights. Due to the “As Seen on TV” nature of the product, we’d imagine that they’d come as a set, and that the remote control isn’t available independent of the lights themselves.
And even if they were, we’d have to wonder if all Monster Lights remotes operate on the same frequency. If not, a replacement may not work, and if so, operating multiple Monster Lights in the same household may present some problems.
Do Other Consumers Like Their Monster Lights?
Although Monster Lights didn’t have any online customer reviews available at the time of our research, we did learn that it’s manufactured by Tristar Products, who also makes Copper Wear, Clear TV, Flex-Able Hose, and many other “As Seen on TV” products.
Among these, more than 400 HighYa readers have chimed in on their experiences and given the products an average rating of 2 stars, with common complaints citing failure to work as advertised, poor product quality, and unhelpful customer service (difficulty processing refunds, numerous upsells, etc.). While this may not necessarily be your experience with Monster Lights, it’s something to keep in mind nonetheless.
Keep Your Options Open
Finally, remote controlled rope lights are nothing new, and are available through a wide range of online retailers, as well as ones near you. Admittedly, these options are generally more expensive that Monster Lights, although you may have an easier time returning them (and save money on S&H charges), if you choose.
Monster Lights Pricing & Refund Policy
One 16-foot strand of Monster Lights and 1 bonus LED bulb is priced at $19.99 plus $6.99 S&H. However, you’ll also be able to choose to double the offer at checkout for an additional $7.99 S&H.
Monster Lights comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. This means you’ll lose almost as much in S&H charges as you’ll receive as a refund, before calculating the cost to ship the lights back to the manufacturer.
With this said, if you’d like to process a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 973-287-5166.
Can Monster Lights Help Your Child (& You) Sleep Better at Night?
Chopping to the Point: If your child’s main problem preventing them from falling asleep each night is related to lack of light, Monster Lights may provide the adequate amount they need in order to sleep soundly. However, you may be able to accomplish the same thing using lights from local retailers, which could help prevent you from losing S&H charges if you’re not satisfied with their performance.

Paid but never received the product
Ordered Monster Lights two weeks before Christmas, called 6 weeks later, they said the item was backordered. Today is February 17th, I received an email saying the order had been canceled. Zero contact info. Complete scam.

I ordered them on March 25th. Called them a week ago, they are telling me they were on back order and it will still be a couple weeks. Calling tomorrow to cancel.
Horrible Customer Service
Placed an order on March 30, no communication from Monster Lights. Now in mid-May, I receive an email telling me my order was canceled, but no mention of refunding my payment. Website is no longer available. Now we begin the fight to get the payment refunded!

Ordered lights the first week in April and won't receive them until first week in June. I've called several times as to when I will get them and asked where is the communication between customer and company. All the guy said was sorry and when I get my order to call and they will refund me $7.50. Wow! Thanks. Hope it's worth the wait. I'd give it a zero star if I could. I've never waited for something for so long.
