About My Cane

If you have reduced mobility and are looking for something to help you get around more easily, My Cane is a new foldable cane that claims to give you freedom to go anywhere you like, including walking up and down hills, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain. In fact, the product’s slogan is, “More grip, less slip.”

But can My Cane really provide you with the support you need? Let’s lean on the facts and see what they have to say.

Quick Facts About My Cane

Endorsed by John Amos, (who also endorses one of our most controversial products, Clear TV), My Cane claims to utilize a quad base that maintains constant contact with the ground, and to provide superior surface grip and support. This lightweight, portable cane claims to weigh less than a pound, but supports up to 250lbs. On top of this, My Cane extends quickly, features adjustable height, can stand by itself, and folds away for storage in seconds.

Finally, My Cane features a pivoting LED flashlight built directly in to the handle, which is claimed to help you make your way through the dark.

My Cane Pricing & Refund Policy

My Cane is currently priced at $19.95, plus $7.99 shipping and handling. As with most “As Seen on TV” products, you’ll also be able to purchase a second My Cane for an additional $7.99 S&H. If you choose this option, it will bring your total to $35.93.

My Cane comes with a 60-day money back guarantee, less shipping and handling charges. In order to initiate the refund process, you’ll need to contact customer service at 973-287-5147.

What Do Other Consumers Have to Say About My Cane?

My Cane is manufactured by Tristar Products based out of Fairfield, NJ, who holds a C rating with the Better Business Bureau. Of their more than 1,000 closed complaints, most appear to reference poor product quality, poor customer service, and difficulty processing a refund.

We were unable to locate any online My Cane customer reviews during our research, which could be explained by the fact that the product’s URL was just registered in January 2014.

What’s the Bottom Line About My Cane?

In just a few words, it’s highly likely that My Cane doesn’t perform as well as advertised. Why? Let’s take a look:

First, My Cane is an “As Seen on TV” product, which typically have relatively low customer satisfaction ratings, and often feature poor quality materials and less than stellar craftsmanship. As a testament to this, Trusty Cane—a nearly identical product— features wholly negative customer reviews.

Next, most of these manufacturers charge high, non-refundable shipping and handling fees, and My Cane is no different. To put this in perspective, if you decide to return your My Cane, you’ll immediately be out $15.98 in S&H fees, plus whatever costs you incur shipping it back to the company. This means you’ll ultimately spend more than what you’ll receive as a refund.

Finally, Tristar Products has a C rating with the Better Business Bureau, with more than 1,000 closed complaints over the past three years, most of which cite poor product quality, poor customer service, and difficulty processing a refund. As such, this is probably what you can expect with My Cane.

    Better than expected

I had a Hurry cane that was stolen from me at the VA. A new one is about 40 bucks plus shipping. I saw this one advertised for 20 bucks and shipping, looked the same, so I ordered it. Got here promptly and went together and adjusted easily. The light had batteries but didn't work, hence only 4 stars. It's actually more stable than my old Hurry cane and the handle seems more comfortable. All in all, a worthwhile purchase and I'm quite satisfied with the product.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Don't bother

    • Dalby Queensland,
    • Dec 22, 2015

Thought this would get me mobile after my stroke but it did not. Will not stand alone on carpet, very rickety when bearing weight. Actually went back to my old heavy walking stick.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    This is false advertising

    • Australia,
    • Jul 29, 2015

They advertise this item with a person falling over in the snow. Then the person is walking with this cane in the snow. If you read the bottom of the screen, very sneakily in white on the white snow it says it's not suitable for use in slippery or icy conditions. Last time I went in snow it was both icy and slippery.

This is false advertising. Someone will use this cane as shown in the snow they will slip and the makers of this product will say bad luck.

This is so deceiving and sneaky and without any thought to who gets hurt. It will probably a elderly person. Be ware of this item. Oh and if this would let me put no stars I would.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The light is rubbish. It has never stayed in the cane. Always falling out. Not a good thing for the elderly.

    Not good

    • Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia,
    • Apr 21, 2015

Complete & utter rubbish. My Cane can be knocked down easily. The people in the ads walk easily, but the reality is that it would not hold you up. The fees are expensive to send back. It's actually easier to just throw away. I bought TWO.
