About Naturally Free
Naturally Free is an “As Seen on TV” texture manageability system that claims to allow your hair to go from curly to straight and back again, without any harsh chemicals, without damaging your hair, and without permanently changing your natural curl pattern. And by providing you with a safe and affordable method of adding body, bounce, and movement, and for achieving softer, shinier, and healthier looking hair, Naturally Free claims to help you obtain salon fabulous hair without the risk.
Considering the reputation of “As Seen on TV” (ASOTV) products (see more about this in the final section), is Naturally Free really the “ultimate in hairstyling freedom” as the company claims, or will it just drain your wallet?
How Does Naturally Free Claim to Work?
Using a unique system of interactive butters, amino acids, and natural proteins that bond with your hair’s own protein to give you beautiful straight hair that lasts up to 6 weeks, Naturally Free is a hair care system that claims to allow you to go from curly to straight hair and back again, without damaging your hair or its natural structure. And by using Naturally Free in the comfort of your own home with only a blow dryer and a flat iron, the manufacturer claims that you’ll be able to save hundreds of dollars in trips to the salon.
In order to use Naturally Free, you’ll need to follow their 4-step system:
- Apply the gentle Preparatory Shampoo, which is claimed to deep cleanse your hair and scalp, to remove impurities, and to prepare the cuticle for the Inner-Active Conditioning Treatment. Rinse.
- Apply the Inner-Active leave-in conditioner, which contains no formaldehyde that can damage your hair. This works to seal moisture in your hair shaft, and to resist humidity. Rinse.
- Blow dry your hair.
- Use a flat iron to straighten your hair. This acts to infuse the natural oils, proteins, butters, and amino acids of the Inner-Active Conditioning Treatment into the hair, and to seal the outer layer of the hair in order to lock in moisture.
Although Naturally Free is claimed to include no calcium carbonate, guanidine, formaldehyde, ammonia, petroleum products, sulfates, sulfites, thioglycolates, artificial dyes, or other harsh chemicals, it should not be used on damaged, weak, brittle, splitting, or bleached hair. However, Naturally Free can be used on hair that has been relaxed, texturized, permed, or treated with a keratin treatment. In addition, the hair care system is claimed to be safe enough to be used on children, as well as 100% human hair extensions that are sewn (not glued) in place. If used as directed, Naturally Free is claimed to provide great results on all hair types, including tight coils, curls, and waves.
When using Naturally Free, you should take care not to use other shampoos or conditioners not already included in the system, which could decrease its effectiveness. Also, you should not use any hair products that contain sodium chloride, calcium chloride, or magnesium chloride.
Naturally Free Pricing & Refund Policy
Naturally Free is priced at $24.95 plus $9.99 S&H. Like most ASOTV products, you’ll need to purchase a “free” second set of the hair care system for an additional $9.99 S&H, bringing your total to $44.93.

Naturally Free comes with a 45-day money back guarantee, less S&H charges (we’ll talk more about this in a moment). In order to initiate the refund process, you’ll need to contact customer service at (877) 372-7613.
Can Naturally Free Really Straighten Your Hair Without Chemicals?
ASOTV manufacturers are notorious for overhyping their products, but is this necessarily the case with the Naturally Free hair care system? In other words, can you expect it to really allow your hair to go from curly to straight and back again, without resulting in any damage? Perhaps, but keep the following in mind:
What Exactly Is Naturally Free?
Although Naturally Free’s website does a good job of telling you what their product isn’t (it’s not a relaxer, a texturizer, or a keratin treatment) and the harsh chemicals that it doesn’t contain, there is almost no information about what it actually does contain.
We visited the manufacturer’s Brands page to find out more, but did not find Naturally Free listed there.
All in the “As Seen on TV” Family
As we’ve mentioned several times, ASOTV products have reputations for lower than average customer satisfaction ratings, primarily due to complaints of not working as advertised and/or for being of low quality. While there aren’t any customer reviews that claim this is the case with Naturally Free, it’s something to keep in mind nonetheless.
Digging Up the Dirt on Naturally Free
Speaking of reviews: While there aren’t any online reviews that can be used to gauge overall customer satisfaction levels for Naturally Free, we did learn that the product is manufactured by Strength of Nature Global, LLC based out of Savannah, GA, who also makes a variety of other ethnic hair care products.
The company holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, despite only having 2 closed complaints within the past 3 years, both of which appear to reference problems with products and/or service. However, the company failed to respond to one of these complaints, which could be the cause for their low score.
With this said, many of the company’s other products appear to have primarily positive customer reviews, although some common complaints reference failure to work and negative hair reactions (e.g. shedding, making hair dry or greasy, etc.).
Be Prepared to Lose a Lot In S&H Charges
Finally, although it’s positive that Naturally Free comes with a 30-day refund policy, shipping and handling charges are not included. In this instance, you’ll immediately be out $19.98 if you’re not satisfied with the product, even before adding in what it’ll cost you to send the product back to the manufacturer.
With this said, after it’s all said and done, you could end up spending more in S&H charges than you’ll receive as a refund.
Naturally Free appears to be made by a reputable manufacturer, but without a list of ingredients to review or customer feedback to consider, you might want to speak with your hairdresser about less risky methods of achieving the same results.
