About OmegaK Krill Oil
The OmegaK Krill Oil supplement contains 100% pure Antarctic krill, which can help slow the production of fat in your liver, fight inflammation, increase HDL (good) cholesterol, lower triglycerides, and lower total and LDL cholesterol. Sounds a lot like fish oil, right?
Compared to fish oil, which is bound by a triglyceride “backbone,” OmegaK claims their Krill Oil is bound by a different chemical, making the DHA and EPA it contains easier for your body to absorb, while improving its heart-healthy benefits. In fact, OmegaK Krill Oil is 47 times more powerful than regular fish oil, which is why the company calls it your “heart’s new best friend.”
All you have to do is take two 500mg capsules of OmegaK Krill Oil per day, and you could start living healthier, without strict diets or exercise plans, and without worrying about adverse health reactions.
Can krill oil—and the DHA and EPA fatty acids they contain—potentially provide some health benefits? Maybe. Does this mean that OmegaK Krill Oil is your best option? Keep reading and we’ll help you decide.
What Is Krill Oil? Why Is It Special?
Krill are two-inch long, shrimp-like crustaceans found in all the world’s oceans, although one species named Euphausia superba is especially prevalent in the Southern (Antarctic) Ocean. According to National Geographic:
“Krill feed on phytoplankton, microscopic, single-celled plants that drift near the ocean’s surface and live off carbon dioxide and the sun’s rays. They in turn are the main staple in the diets of literally hundreds of different animals, from fish, to birds, to baleen whales.
Simply put, without krill, most of the life forms in the Antarctic would disappear.”
Humans are interested in krill too, as these tiny crustaceans also contain high levels of omega 3 fatty acids. Why’s this important? Because omega 3s are essential for human growth and development, and when taken as a supplement, they might be effective for fighting everything from arthritis to Alzheimer’s disease. They may even help fight the effects of aging!
Pro tip: The thing to remember is that, although omega 3s have a lot of clinical evidence behind them, krill oil itself doesn’t. Keep this in mind, because we’ll come back to it shortly.
It seems like omega 3s could possibly provide some pretty important health benefits, right? Are krill oil supplements like OmegaK the only way to get them, though?
Omega 3 Supplements Galore
In short, OmegaK Krill Oil is up against a lot of competition. Not just from other krill oil supplements like Viva Labs Krill Oil and Whole Body Antarctic Krill Oil, but also from omega 3-only supplements like Omax3, Omega XL, and many more. In fact, if you type “krill oil” or “omega 3” into any search engine, you’ll literally have hundreds and hundreds of products to choose from.
Want even more options? Just head down to any retailer with a vitamin section and you’re just about sure to find at least a couple. Also, remember that if you’re looking to get the most bang-for-your-buck, omega 3-only supplements often contain higher concentrations of mega 3s than krill oil ones.
Considering this stiff competition, how does OmegaK Krill Oil stack up? We’ll find out in a moment, but let’s talk about the supplement’s price first.
How Expensive Is OmegaK Krill Oil?
- 1 Bottle: $67
- 3 Bottles: $149.85
- 6 Bottles: $239.70
All OmegaK orders come with free shipping and a 60-day refund policy, less S&H charges.
Pro tip: According to their return policy, “Only two opened bottles from a multiple bottle order will be accepted for full refund within the 60 day allowance, the rest must be sealed and unopened.”
In order to request a refund, you’ll need to call OmegaK’s customer service department at 800-862-1590.
Just what do we know about OmegaK, anyway?
Is OmegaK a Reputable Company?
On their website, OmegaK Krill Oil had all 4 and 5-star customer reviews, with many claiming to have experienced improved diabetes symptoms, reduced cholesterol and blood pressure, and more. Elsewhere online, however, it seems that customer feedback wasn’t nearly as positive.
OmegaK’s Krill Oil supplement had an average rating of 3.3 stars on Amazon, based on 22 customer reviews. It’s interesting to note that outside of the 5-star feedback, a lot of the company’s customers seem highly upset, calling it a “scam” and “snake oil.” A couple customers claimed they received outdated merchandise (one received an open bottle!), and mentioned that it’s more than twice as expensive as a lot of the competition.
But it was Fish Oil Guy’s review that really caught our attention. Why? Because he provided photographic evidence that OmegaK Krill Oil might be a repackaged version of Vitegrity. Also, he noted that it has “very little krill oil with no listings of EPA and DHA.”
As a company, OmegaK, based out of Lutz, FL, had a C- Better Business Bureau rating based on 44 closed complaints (as of 2/19/16), most of which appeared to reference excessive spam and difficulty obtaining refunds.
Is OmegaK Krill Oil Right For You?
First, let’s talk about price. Although nutritional supplements companies aren’t exactly known for their rock-bottom prices, at nearly $70 for a one-month supply, OmegaK Krill Oil is more than 7X the price of something similar you might find at your local pharmacy. It’s also 5-6X the price of omega 3 supplements, while packing less of a punch!
So, even if you find that krill oil or omega 3 supplements work well for you, OmegaK might not represent the best use of your money. Which brings us to the next point.
Remember how we mentioned previously that omega 3s have lots of clinical evidence, but krill oil doesn’t? If you’re looking for the best possible chance of achieving some benefits with essential fatty acids, buying a straight-up omega 3 supplement might be the better way to go.
Before you get to the decisionmaking process though, the first thing you should do is talk with your doctor about these types of supplements, and whether or not they think you’ll benefit from them. Also, keep in mind that there are many different lifestyle factors you can change to improve your heart health, without spending anything!

Not sure if it really is what they claim
I've been taking it for three months and have no idea if it's working or what's in it. Of course it's Auto shipping. I have to dig for info to cancel. I went to my doctor the other day and they still wanted to put me on meds for high blood pressure. When I revisited the website for info, it seems that all the reviews are paid for and I never did find instructions on how to cancel the auto ship. Help!
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
