About PhytAge Plus

PhytAge Plus natural anti-aging supplement—or “total skin rejuvenation package,” as the company calls it—that promises to deliver a more youthful appearance by reducing many common signs of aging, including lines, wrinkles, and sun damage.

To accomplish this, the company tells us that PhytAge’s natural ingredients are engineered to deliver rejuvenating hydration, and to “renew skin cells from within.” According to the manufacturer, all you need to do is take two capsules twice daily on an empty stomach, and this scientifically backed supplement will deliver optimum results after 90 days.

On top of this, PhytAge Plus claims to be as safe as a daily multivitamin.

After combing through the evidence, is PhytAge Plus really any kind of “breakthrough,” as claimed by the company, or is it just another entry in the long line of supplements that overpromise and under-deliver? While we didn’t test the supplement firsthand, we’ll spend this review talking about what we learned about PhytAge (the supplement and the company) from publically available sources.

What Makes You Look Older?

When we’re young, our body produces plenty of collagen and elastin, two proteins essential for youthful, healthy looking skin. How do they work?

In a nutshell, collagen acts as a kind of structural framework for your skin, helping to maintain smoothness and firmness. Elastin, on the other hand, provides elasticity, giving your skin the ability to snap back into place after being stretched. So, as you might imagine, having less of these proteins in your body leads to things like wrinkles, sagging skin, age spots, and a dull complexion.

But it doesn’t stop there, because a secondary aging process occurs as a result of certain lifestyle factors, such as excessive sun exposure, smoking, drinking too much alcohol, undergoing too much stress, getting too little sleep, and more. These factors can lead to premature aging, which causes many natural signs of aging to appear earlier and make you look older before your time.

With this in mind, will any of PhytAge Plus’ ingredients meaningfully address these two main causes of aging?

Are PhytAge Plus’ Phytoceramides & Other Ingredients Effective?

According to the label on their site, PhytAge Plus contains the following ingredients:

Phytoceramides are a waxy lipid molecule derived from plants (in the instance of PhytAge Plus, it’s rice), that some anti-aging companies claim can help replace the ceramides we lose during the natural aging process. However, there’s little-to-no clinical evidence to support this assertion.

PhytAge Plus’ rice phytoceramides seem to be derived from a proprietary ingredient named Ceramide-PCD, which is manufactured by Anderson Global Group. On their website, the company provides links to several different trials studying the benefits related to moisturization, acne, and even skin whitening. It’s unclear if these studies were peer reviewed though, or if their results have been duplicated in subsequent studies.

Finally, as you likely know, vitamins A, C, D, and E are all essential for human health and proper bodily function, so if you’re deficient, you may appear prematurely old. In otherwise healthy individuals, though, there isn’t any clinical evidence indicating oral supplementation can provide any anti-aging benefits.

Mixed clinical evidence aside, how much will you pay for a bottle of PhytAge Plus?

How Much Does PhytAge Plus Cost?

One bottle (30 capsules) of the PhytAge Plus beauty supplement will cost you $69.95, plus free S&H.

Important note: According to PhytAge’s FAQ, it could take as long as 5 days from your date of purchase to receive tracking details, and as long as 7 days to ship your order.

Per the company’s Terms, all PhytAge Plus orders come with a 90-day return window, less S&H. In order to process a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 800-822-5753 or support@phytagelabs.com.

What Can We Learn From PhytAge Plus Reviews?

While we found a couple similarly named products during our research, we didn’t come across any customer feedback specifically for PhytAge Plus. This is likely because it was a very new supplement at the time.

But the reality is that if you’re looking for a phytoceramide-based anti-aging supplement, you literally have thousands of different options to choose from online. And if you also add phytoceramide creams into the mix, you’ll have thousands more options.

In fact, we’ve even reviewed one popular option here at HighYa named Miracle Phytoceramides.

Now, it’s important to keep in mind that none of these other products come from the same manufacturer as PhytAge Plus, so there’s no way to know if you’ll experience any of the same things expressed in their reviews. However, common complaints for anti-aging products in general tend to reference no results (or at least, results not in line with the company’s promises), high prices, and poor customer service.

Speaking of the manufacturer, PhytAge Plus is brought to you by PhytAge Laboratories, based out of Centennial, CO. According to the supplement’s website, the company is comprised of “a unique team of health and industry professionals dedicated to unlocking the secrets of happier living through a more youthful appearance.” They weren’t listed with the Better Business Bureau, and we didn’t find any additional information about them through third-party websites.

Let’s bring everything we’ve learned so far together.

Will PhytAge Plus Deliver Real-World Results?

Until Dr. Oz promoted phytoceramides in his October 2012 episode named “Drop Decades From Your Face,” these substances were largely unknown to the general public. Even today, if you search online for scientific details about phytoceramides, you’ll still have to do a fair amount of digging before finding much other than massively overblown claims from thousands of different anti-aging products manufacturers.

Whether or not there’s a lot of publically information available about phytoceramides though, the reality is that, based on the available evidence, the scientific community seems to remain skeptical about its ability to reduce or prevent the signs of aging.

Regarding PhytAge Plus specifically, we have a brand new supplement from a basically unknown company, with ingredients that have little-to-no clinical evidence to support their efficacy, all of which can be yours for the steep price of nearly $70. What’s this mean for you?

While we certainly won’t tell you what to do with your money, if we were in the market for something to help turn back the hands of time (after all, we shop online too!), we think we’d get a better value by making an appointment with our dermatologist, versus placing an order for PhytAge Plus.
