How the Potato Express Works
The makers of Potato Express claim that the “unique insulation design” creates a steam pocket while cooking that gives your potato just the right amount of moisture so it will have a tender skin and fluffy inside.
You simply put up to four full-sized potatoes into the bag and put it into the microwave for four minutes.
It can also be used to cook corn in the microwave and soften hard bread.
The Potato Express has few reviews online, but one review stated that it could not hold four full-sized potatoes as claimed, but only four small potatoes. That review also stated that it only cooked a single potato in four minutes and actually took about 10 minutes to cook the four small potatoes. The single potato did cook as advertised, though.
It also mentioned that there were less expensive alternatives available that do approximately the same thing and that the Potato Express cannot exactly duplicate a real oven-baked potato.
There are many people online who said they were put off purchasing the Potato Express due to what they feel is exorbitant shipping and handling costs for what many people claim is just a cloth bag.
Potato Express Pricing, Shipping & Return Policies
The Potato Express sells for $10, plus $6.99 shipping and handling and comes with a recipe guide and a Super Slicer for free. If you pay an additional shipping and handling fee of $6.99, your order will be doubled except for the super slicer. That means for $23.98, you will receive two Potato Express bags, two recipe guides and one super slicer.
The website offers a 30-day money back guarantee, but you will not receive your shipping and handling back and would have to pay for the shipping to return it to the company.
The product website does not cover how to return the product, but if you have questions, you can contact the makers at 1-877-883-9082 or via e-mail at email@example.com.
- Claims to save you time

- Reusable and machine washable
- May not work exactly as advertised.
- Almost certainly less expensive alternatives available
this is the most ridiculous piece of garbage, those that said it worked perfect, probably work for the company! No offense if it worked for you, but I don't think you can hold your mouth right and make this thing work! I may try to poke holes in the tater before putting in bag! But I don't see it working like that either!
it doesn't deserve one star!
Waste of my hard earned dollar
This is the biggest waste of money. It doesn't work. I don't usually fall for TV ads because I think they are all scams but we love baked potatoes so, I thought I would give the potato express a try. Another to add to the does not work pile. Save your money. Cook in the microwave without the bag and they come out just as good.
Got mine from Target...works great but the bag says for a 900 watt microwave 2 potatoes should take 4 mins When it took me 9 mins....and the bag is so small there is no way 4 full potatoes in it ' But yes it does work just takes longer.
Took 20 minutes to cook the 2 potatoes.
Takes a lot longer than 4 min. To cook 2 potatoes it took me 20 min. It only takes 10 without the bag. Returned to bed bath and beyond. No shipping and handling.
Order 1, after them trying to sell me 50 other things. Also, buy today get more for $. got it in the mail. Couple months later got about 7 more. Disputed it with the credit card company (walmart). They sent them an invoice, so card company sends me a letter.....basically pay it.
So if I make up an invoice stating you purchased an elephant, that means you did? Think...................these people know this. They're hoping that you'll let go. Of course who are the bigger scammers - the credit card company or potato express? Now im going around and around with walmart. Credit... I'm not going to quit..........im bull headed enough to take this to small claims court. Let them do this it will never stop.
It is much easier to just put the potatoes in microwave with out using this bag! I put three potatoes in bag and had to cook over again! Would not recommend it to any one. Not worth even the one star...
I constantly hear people complain about the high shipping and handling charges on the tv products. That's how they make money! For "additional S & H charges", which are way high, they give you another one. Every single thing you see on tv can be bought at WalMart, or Bed Bath & Beyond for only the local sales tax, if you have one. Same base price. I bought the potato express for $9.88 + 7% sales tax. It works fine but the directions can be confusing where they say "DO NOT heat on HIGH. Do they mean a lower power level on your microwave? They don't explain this at all. I don't know what HIGH means to them but I nuked 2 medium sized russet potatoes for 6 minutes on full power and they were perfect. If you use 20% or 40% power you'll be there all day.
Terrific! SUCH A WONDERFUL PURCHASE!!!!
We received this last week and it has already claimed its' place as a staple in the kitchen! We. It is used at least 5 times a week and does EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED. Our first experience was to cook 4 very large Russett potatoes, and not only did they get cooked to perfection in the allotted time, they were truly delicious as if they had been baked for an hour or more in the oven! This is just an FYI....I wash my potatoes thoroughly and scrub them with a stiff veggie brush, then dry them with a paper towel just prior to putting them in the bag for insertion into the microwave. My only suggestion is that perhaps those with a problem should check the true temp on their microwave. Hopefully this is helpful, but we are over the moon crazy about this product!!!
Fine for single meals...but bad for family meals
I first tried it with what I would think is a regular size potato for baked potato. 4 minutes it was kinda done on the inside and hard on the inside...me and my bf tried this several times with two sized potatoes and it took a lot of checking and recooking, I couldn't tell you how long it takes and they are still pretty hard. But I realized those two potatoes probably equals "4 potatoes" it advertises. I started using it for one, medium sized russet potato for my lunches at home, adding a few toppings to it and its worked great. so I'm still happy with it, for myself, but I understand why people are mad it wont do 4 large potatoes at a time. its basically 4 min per potato. I bought it to start eating more potatoes vs all the frozen processed food me and my bf usually buy. so for me it works
Potato Express does not work. It will not hold 4 potatoes. At four minutes, the potatoes are still hard as a brick. I tried it at one minute intervals up to 8 minutes. The potatoes were still not done. This is false advertising, how do companies get by with this? I will not recommend this product to anyone.
So pitiful it's laughable
Eleven total minutes in the bag - plus time to check for doneness and restart process - and only partially done potatoes. Eleven total minutes on the turntable without the bag - great potato! One of the worst scams ever. I received it as a gift and went with the gifter to return it for a box of candy.
How do they get away with this scam
I just don't understand how you can make false claims about a product that does not work at all. I'm sure this company made a bunch of money from this scam, it should be illegal to do this.
I Should never had bought this
After following the directions on the package by cooking the potato in the sleeve in my microwave for four minutes,, I took it out and it was hard as a rock. I had to end up cooking it for 3 more minutes which I could have done anyway in the microwave. I feel ripped off , that I wasted my money and feel that no one else should buy this useless product. I am extremely disappointed.
Oh boy, I bought the Potato Express for my boss as a
Christmas gift. I also received one as a gift and it really
does not work. Now I'm embarrassed to ask my boss if
she used hers. I'll keep trying, but so far no good!
Got this from my Mother in law for Christmas & it sucks! Put 4 small red potatoes in it & it took 16 total minutes to cook thoroughly on high! I am mad! I cooked the rest of my dinner & left the potatoes for last since they would be done quickly... Didn't happen so I had to reheat all of my other dishes again & ate dinner 45 minutes later than expected. Sucky product!
Potato Express Nightmare!!!
I just purchased this dumb contraption and for dinner we figured the last 10 minutes of our main dish cooking, we would put our cleaned (medium sized) potatoes and let them do their "magic"!!! Yeah Right!!! 4 minutes later only the outside of the potato was warm! Sooo, we put it back in for another minute, and not even a slight difference. So in they go AGAIN for another full 4 minutes, this time it was like when you cut the potato in half parts are hot and parts are still hard!
This, by far, has to be the dumbest idea anyone has ever come up with!! Needless to say we ended up wrapping them in aluminum foil and in the oven that was already hot from our main dish that will be COLD, because the dumb express FAILED!!!!
Wanna flush your $ down the toilet? Then buy the Potato Express which is nothing more than a clever gimmick to separate you from your $ when you're desperate for a birthday or Christmas gift. Doesn't work. Period. SAME results W/O using the bag in the microwave! Brilliant scam!!!
I won't bore you with all the basics, thats allready been said. I placed 1 small potato in the bag and cooked it 4 min. like instructed. Potato was still rock hard. Went another 2 min. Still hard. In total it took just over 11 min. Item is total trash it does not work.
We tried this twice. Once with 2 large potatoes and then with a single yam. Didn't work well either time.
Into the garbage after the second try. It wasn't worth my time or effort.
Two large baked potatoes for 9 minutes in the bad, and 2 minutes outside. I think I can do them faster without this heap on junk. I'm glad it was a Christmas present and I never paid for it!!
