About PressTastic

PressTastic claims to be a tiny, powerful, and portable handheld steamer that provides a fast and easy way to steam, crease, and release the wrinkles from your clothes, right on the hanger. Because of this, the manufacturer claims it’s like having a “professional steam press right in your hand.”

How Does PressTastic Claim to Work?

When compared to traditional handheld steamers, PressTastic claims to work using 5 pressure steam ports that provide wrinkle-fighting power, as well as a detachable crease plate for perfect dress pant and shirt creases. Simply place your clothes between the bottom of PressTastic (which contains the steam ports) and the crease plate, which is opened and closed via a spring hinge, similar to a flat iron used for hair.

Because of PressTastic’s small size, the manufacturer claims that it can go anywhere you do, and is perfect for last-minute touchups, whether at home or on the road.

Where Can You Use PressTastic?

In addition to its portability, PressTastic is claimed to be safe for use on many types of fabrics and clothing, and because it doesn’t press your clothes against a traditional ironing board, it’s claimed to glide safely over buttons, beads, sequins, and other types of decoration. In fact, PressTastic is claimed to be so versatile that it can also help press drapes, and to deodorize and refresh furniture and pet bedding.

PressTastic Pricing & Refund Policy

PressTastic is priced at $19.99 plus $6.99 S&H. As with most ASOTV products, you’ll be required to take "advantage" of their Buy 1, Get 1 Free offer and pay the additional $6.99 S&H, bringing your total to $$33.97.

For this price, you’ll receive a total of:

  • 2 PressTastics
  • 2 “Perfect Fill” Measuring Cups
  • 2 Crease Plates
  • 2 Bonus Fabric Brushes, which are claimed to be perfect for velvet and velour.

Important note: There is no refund policy listed on the PressTastic website, and no phone number or other contact information that could be used to verify it. There is a Privacy Policy posted showing that the product is manufactured by PressTastic based out of Overland Park, KS, although no relevant information was found about the company elsewhere online.

With this said, most ASOTV products come with 30-day refund policies, less S&H charges. In the instance of PressTastic, this can add up quickly, considering you’ll lose $13.98 in S&H fees, plus whatever it will cost you to ship it back to the manufacturer.

It could be the case that the website isn’t fully functional yet since PressTastic is just now being released (URL registered at the end of September, 2014). We’ll be sure to update this information when it changes.

Is PressTastic Really a “Professional Steam Press Right In Your Hand?”

Here at HighYa, we review a lot of “As Seen on TV” products, and we have to say that from a functionality perspective, PressTastic seems intriguing. But is this necessarily the case?

Does the PressTastic Have Any Competition?

While there are certainly a number of portable steamers that you can purchase online or from a local retailer, we didn’t find one that also combined the hinged crease plate found on PressTastic (although we do have some concerns about how well the plastic would hold up with regular use). On top of this, many of these other steamers were priced higher.

So in essence, PressTastic appears to be a sub-category of its own.

Can PressTastic Really Be Used On Any Fabric?

You might think this, since the PressTastic website claims it’s “Safe for all clothing types - suits, dress shirts, trousers, denim, cotton, linen, silk, lace.” Unfortunately, the manufacturer doesn’t specifically outline which fabrics it can’t be used on; only that they’re safe for jeans, silk, lace, linen, suit coats, and dress shirts.

However, in general, steamers are considered safe for most type of fabrics, with the exception of wool. This is because the heat and moisture from the steam can cause the fibers to shrink, ultimately distorting the size or shape (or both) of your garment.

Bottom Line

Although PressTastic admittedly seems like a clever idea, considering the fact that:

  • Crucial information (refund policy, contact information, Terms, etc.) was missing from the product’s website,
  • PressTastic appears to be a very new product without any online customer reviews, and
  • We have some concerns about its longevity,

…we might recommend visiting a local retailer for similar options before committing to PressTastic. While it won’t include the crease plate, returning it would be as easy as driving back to the store, and you wouldn’t lose money from S&H fees.

    Super Disappointed

I've put in a order for a PressTastic over a week ago and unfortunately I haven't received anything or heard from them. I ordered it from the phone through their automated system and they have not contacted me yet. I even tried emailing them with the email that was provided in the automated system, but unfortunately it was wrong. PressTastic gave me wrong email contact information. I am so upset and was looking forward to using this product. They basically took my money off my debit card and now I don't know how to get in contact with anyone. I will never recommend this product to a friend. I got ripped off. This is so unfortunate.
