About ProLean Cleanse

ProLean Cleanse is a nutritional supplement that’s claimed to help improve your digestion, and as a result, to flush pounds and detoxify your body. And because your body will be better able to absorb nutrients from the foods you eat, ProLean Cleanse is also claimed to naturally increase energy, boost your metabolism, and enhance weight management.

In order to accomplish this, ProLean Cleanse is claimed to work over 2 steps:

  • Take one capsule of ProLean Cleanse before your first meal.
  • Take a second capsule before dinner.

Look, you’re sick and tired of all the “amazing” claims made by weight loss supplements, and you’re here to find out if ProLean Cleanse can really work, or if it’s just another high-priced gimmick. To answer this, consider the following:

Are ProLean Cleanse’s Ingredients Effective?

According to the ProLean Cleanse website, the weight loss supplement contains the following ingredients:

  • Psyllium seed husk
  • Aloe vera
  • Senna leaf
  • White oak bark
  • Gentian root
  • Slippery elm bark
  • Goldenseal root

However, WebMD states that there is insufficient evidence showing that psyllium, aloe vera, senna leaf, white oak bark, gentian root, slippery elm bark, or goldenseal can provide any kind of cleansing benefits. But—not to be vulgar about it—the one thing many of these ingredients can do is help relieve constipation. In other words, they’ll help you poop.

Are Cleanses Even Necessary?

As we’ve mentioned in most of our other detox supplements reviews, although being regular certainly has its health benefits, unless you haven’t had a bowel movement in more than 3 days (the definition of being constipated), there aren’t many instances where laxatives, or cleansing supplements like ProLean Cleanse, need to be used. In fact, the body does a pretty good job of naturally cleansing its digestive tract, so it’s likely that colon cleanses aren’t necessary in the first place.

However, the ProLean Cleanse website makes it seem that without regular cleansing, colon parasites can create a buildup of mucus that reduces your body’s ability to absorb nutrients. Is this true?

In short, no. This is because, “The concept that this mucus layer might form a 'mucoid plaque' has been dismissed by physicians as having no anatomical or physiological basis.”

ProLean Cleanse’s Advertising Tactics

Perhaps because of the lack of clinical evidence showing any of ProLean Cleanse’s ingredients can provide any weight loss (or other) benefits, the supplement’s website resorts to some less-than-stellar advertising tactics.

While we covered this in-depth in our How Weight Loss Ads Convince You to Buy article, this involves featuring a prominent picture of an attractive model in an area your eyes are immediately drawn to, which is often intended to make you think, “Hey, I want to look like that too!”

Then, your eye is drawn to the center of the screen, where you’re told that ProLean Cleanse can help “flush pounds and detoxify your body.” Finally, a sense of urgency is created when you learn that only 250 trials are given per day (almost certainly not true), and that the company can “no longer guarantee supply” (again, almost certainly not true). This creates a sense of urgency.

Finally, this urgency is relieved when you find out you can order a trial bottle. And since you’ve been primed to purchase, you might hand over your credit card information without giving it a second thought.

Important note: It’s interesting to point out that the attractive model featured on this ProLean Cleanse landing page is identical to the one used on the Total Cleanse Plus website. While we didn’t uncover any information linking the two companies, keep in mind that it’s probably the case that this is a stock image, and not an example of what you can expect to achieve from using the product.

What’s Up With All These Positive ProLean Cleanse Customer Reviews?

ProLean Cleanse is only sold through independent affiliates who earn a commission off of each sale they refer. As a result, many of these affiliates will resort to dishonest marketing tactics, such as creating fake customer review websites.

Outside of these however, there weren’t any legitimate online customer reviews available for ProLean Cleanse at the time of our research.

With this said, most detox supplements we’ve reviewed come with 2-star (or lower) average customer ratings, with common complaints citing failure to work, difficulties cancelling free trials and autoship programs (more about this next), and poor customer service.

ProLean Cleanse Pricing & Refund Policy

ProLean Cleanse is only sold through a 14-day trial, for which you’ll pay $4.95 and will receive a full 30-day supply of the supplement.

Once your trial ends, you’ll be charged $129.93 (yes, you read that right!) for the full price the product. You’ll also be enrolled in ProLean Cleanse’s autoship program, which means you’ll continue receiving a fresh supply of the supplement once every 30 days, and your credit card will be charged $129.93 each time.

Important note: It’s our professional opinion that free trials are focused on getting ahold of your credit card number and autoship programs on committing you to recurring monthly charges. Because of this, we often recommend avoiding products sold through these methods altogether.

According to the ProLean Cleanse Terms, outside of the 14-day trial, no refunds are available.

With this said, if you’d like to cancel your 14-day trial or your autoship enrollment, you’ll need to contact customer service at 855-805-1326.

Can ProLean Cleanse Detox Your Body & Help You Lose Weight?

Chopping to the point: Considering the fact that none of ProLean Cleanse’s ingredients are useful for anything other than keeping you regular, along with the company’s underhanded marketing tactics, trial-only purchasing option, and extremely high price, we feel comfortable calling the product a “scam.”

    Horrible!

    • Roseville, CA,
    • Jan 31, 2016

I got a queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach when, along with the free trial, they also enclosed a little letter asking me to notify them before reporting fraud. Sure enough, the charges rapidly accrued, culminating in the $100+ charge as an ongoing thing. I got some satisfaction from them in the form of $100 credit and not getting any more charges or pills. Oh, and I saw no difference in my body after this trial. Avoid them like the freaking plague!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Scam! Do Not Use. Call Credit Card Company To Cancel Charges.

My wife received a trial size and then was subsequently charged close to $130 on her credit card. These people are scammers! We returned the original bottle (unopened) back to them in Henderson, Nevada after having the credit card company on the line with us and their representative.

They claim they will refund the money after product is received. They provided an RMA # and we returned it on 12/31/15 and will track to ensure there is a record it was received. In our opinion, this is a scam to take your money. Do not use. This is the honest truth - look at the other entries.

    Stay Away. Beware

    • Dec 23, 2015

I ordered the trial product for $4.95 and two weeks later they debit my account for $130 then for another $80. I got a hold of them and they refused to refund me the money. They took it from my account and by the way, I only received the trial bottle. That's the most expensive pills I've ever bought in my life and it does the opposite. It made my constipation worse. I stopped it before the thirty days, but I didn't have a number to call to cancel my order. I am now in the process of recouping my funds through the help of my bank. No, I would not recommend this product.

    Scam

    • Sacramento ,
    • Oct 21, 2015

I did the free trial for 30 day supply and paid my shipping and in only two weeks they charged my account $100. I emailed them and no reply. And they have not refunded my account and then charged my account another $100! So I guess that's my reply - don't buy from them.

Total scam. Good luck trying to cancel. The number I called is 800-742-1891, I had to dispute it with my credit card company!

    ProLean colon cleanse

    • Aug 11, 2015

Took this for 2 weeks and never had a bowel movement. It constipated me so bad I was in agony and when I tried to cancel my subscription I had to threaten to go to the bank and put a stop on the payment before they would cancel.

    ProLean Cleanse is a scam.

    • Jul 18, 2015

This is a total scam and does not work in my opinion. They just want your account information and set you up for automatic payments for $130 each month. What the heck?

They say you can cancel the trial at anytime but they do not say it is a 14 day one. They do not let you know that you will be set up for recurring payments of $130-150 per month so that's why I think it's a total scam. If it's too good to be true, then it probably is. And when you call, they will not let you talk to a supervisor. They say that the supervisor is always on another call. Scam alert. You have been warned.
