About Proper Pillow
Proper Pillow claims to be the space in your bed “where body and mind align”. They tout its patent pending inner orthotic that they claim gently supports your head and neck, allowing for restful sleep.
Proper Pillow says it was invented by Dr. Rick Loos, a chiropractor from San Diego. Proper Pillow is a business accredited by the BBB since 2013 and currently has an A rating.
How Proper Pillow Works
Proper Pillow is essentially a pillow with a hollow center. They call the space in the middle an “inner orthotic” and claim the pillow itself is made from a “proprietary blend” of foam (but otherwise its components are unknown). As you sleep, they say this inner orthotic will adjust your neck and spine to its natural curve, which they claim should be an upside down U of 20-40 degrees. This, they say, will give you the night’s rest you’ve been dreaming about.
Pricing, Shipping, and Returns
Proper Pillow is sold for 3 “easy” payments of $19.99 plus $9.95 shipping, which translates to... wait for it... $89.91. They offer a 60 day money back guarantee, minus S&H and what it costs to send Proper Pillow back.
Proper Pillow includes:
- Proper Pillow
- Guide to Better Sleep
- Dr. Rick’s Health Tips
- 60 Night Sleep Success Calendar
- 10 year warranty
- 60 day money back guarantee
Bottom Line: Is Proper Pillow a Scam?
There is nothing new about this “inner orthotic” – there are plenty of other donut-shaped pillows out there. Proper spine position may be an element that is causing your sleep disruption, but remember everyone’s sleeping habits and needs are different. While there has been praise for Proper Pillow from consumer reviews, some have complained that its foam is too firm. Getting a good night’s sleep is a goal for many people, but the cost of Proper Pillow may itself cause insomnia. We suggest visiting a big box retailer with more reasonably priced pillows that you can at least touch-and-feel (and possibly rest your head upon through the plastic) before purchasing.

Love it - I can sleep on my back now
I've been trying to sleep on my back for years. If you do a quick online search, you will see this is the healthiest way to sleep and also prevents wrinkles and creases on your face. I was struggling to sleep on my back until I got this pillow about a year ago. It's comfortable and supports your head and neck just right. Works for me.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
