About Pure Moroccan Silk

The argan oil in Pure Moroccan Silk has been used by women for centuries to keep their skin moisturized and their hair nourished. This is probably why the company calls it a “multi-tasking miracle moisturizer.”

But be warned: in the end, you might find the only “miracle” was that you didn’t lose a ton of money in high prices—or your mind in frustration.

No, we’re not trying to scare you, but we are trying to keep you informed. Before you order Pure Moroccan Silk, consider the following:

Pure Moroccan Silk’s Claims

Pure Moroccan Silk claims to give you “gorgeous, natural supermodel hair” by providing luxurious shine, controlling frizz, and preventing and repairing split ends.

Want to grow longer, thicker, more luscious hair? Pure Moroccan Silk claims to deliver. And in just 14 days!

How? By using 100% organic ingredients, such as pure argan oil and essential oils, that nourish hair follicles and naturally boost growth. Pure Moroccan Silk even claims to be “scientifically formulated haircare technology.”

Hmmm. We’re getting a sense of déjà vu here.

Pure Moroccan Silk & Silk of Morocco

These two products don’t just have similar names; we believe that they’re likely the same product.

Before Pure Moroccan Silk entered the market, there was Silk of Morocco, a nearly identical formulation making many of the same claims. The Silk of Morocco site isn’t active any longer, but if you click on the link above, you’ll see that their website designs are nearly identical as well.

Comparing the two sites, you can see that everything is basically the same—almost like they just rebranded Silk of Morocco once customer started uncovering their scheme.

Just what’s going on, anyway? Why rebrand the same product under a different name?

Pure Moroccan Silk’s Free Trial Trap

Like many of the hair products and supplements we’ve reviewed, Pure Moroccan Silk is only available through a 14-day trial. Pay $3.99 for S&H and you’ll receive a full size bottle.

Sweet! A full size bottle for less than $5? Hold on.

After your trial ends, the company will bill you the full price of $89.47. Not only this, but you’ll start receiving a new bottle of Pure Moroccan Silk every 30 days. And, you guessed it, you’ll be charged $89.47 each time.

If you’re not satisfied, Pure Moroccan Silk claims to come with a 15-day return policy, although this only applies to unopened and unused product.

Want to cancel your trial, stop your autoship enrollment, or request a refund? The company claims you’ll simply need to contact customer service at 877-225-8578 or 888-755-5726. But the reality is that you’ll probably receive a lot of pushback and experience a lot of frustration.

Feedback for These Types of Products

As you might imagine, these tactics don’t translate into positive online customer reviews.

Based on 26 HighYa reader reviews, Silk of Morocco (Pure Moroccan Silk’s previous incarnation) had an average rating of 1 star. Most customers complained that it didn’t work, that customer service was rude, and that it was all but impossible to cancel trials/autoship programs.

Will you experience the same with Pure Moroccan Silk? In our opinion, it’s likely.

Ok, we’ve focused on a lot of negatives up to this point. Now, let’s focus on the positives.

Is Argan Oil Effective?

Argan oil contains high levels of vitamin F and omega-6 fatty acids, which can work to nourish your hair and keep it moisturized.

Can you also accomplish this with a high-quality moisturizer? Probably so, but because argan oil is generally left on for a period of hours (even all day), it may provide deeper moisturization.

The important question is: will this result in accelerated growth? Argan oil might improve shine, boost thickness, and provide moisturization—perhaps improving health, but there is insufficient clinical evidence showing it can boost growth.

Outside of argan oil, are there any other methods of improving hair health?

How To Improve the Health of Your Hair

The two most effective methods of improving hair health are 1) focusing on your nutrition, and 2) keeping your scalp in an ideal state.

From a nutrition perspective, foods such as salmon (omega-3 fatty acids), Greek yogurt (vitamin B5), spinach (vitamin A), guava (vitamin C), and more can provide your hair with the essential nutrients it needs to thrive. Many of these can also be obtained through a daily multivitamin, although unless you’re deficient, you should be able to get most of what you need from the foods you eat.

From a scalp perspective, you can improve its health by limiting sun exposure, avoiding chemical dyes and treatments (and if you must, only doing so with a professional stylist), getting enough vitamins and minerals, massaging your scalp when using shampoo and conditioner, and more.

Still Considering Pure Moroccan Silk? Here’s the Bottom Line

Argan oil can help improve your hair’s health, although it probably won’t speed up growth.

But considering that Pure Moroccan Silk is nearly identical to Silk of Morocco, which comes with very low online customer reviews—not to mention the same “free” trial, high price, and autoship program—we think it should be avoided.

Instead, if you’re intent on trying something similar, we’d recommend visiting your local beauty supply. There, you’ll almost certainly find one or more argan oil products from reputable manufacturers, which will likely be much less expensive.

And if you need to process a return, it will be as easy as hopping in your car, without worrying about a frustrating customer service experience.
