About Secret Color

Endorsed by Demi Lovato, who’s known for her boldly-colored and stylish hair, Secret Color is a hair extension that’s claimed to give you color without the commitment, and to provide you with thicker, fuller, longer hair in seconds. According to the manufacturer, Secret Color extensions are available in 4 Demi-inspired colors that can help you make a statement, whether vibrant or sassy, and to proclaim yourself as “different.”

When it comes down to it, who wouldn’t want fuller, thicker hair that ‘s uniquely colored, but without the commitment that comes with most hair dyes? You do, right? But can Secret Color hair extensions help you do this? In other words, at such a low price compared to most extensions, do they represent a bargain, or just a headache?

How Does Secret Color Work?

In order to look help keep your color a secret, Secret Color is claimed to be manufactured using a proprietary synthetic blend of keratin-conditioned polyester fiber that moves, feels, and looks like your real hair, while the patent-pending adjustable headband keeps your extensions on until you take them off, even when exercising (see more about this in the final section). In fact, the manufacturer claims that Secret Color’s headband is completely invisible, and that you simply place it on like a normal headband and then pull your hair over.

Because of this, Secret Color claims to be a quick and easy hair extension solution that can be curled, straightened, and even cut by your stylist in order to give you a unique, personalized look. The manufacturer also claims that you can use water-based styling products with your Secret Color extensions, and that they can be washed using mild shampoo or even Woolite.

Secret Color Pricing & Refund Policy

Each 16-inch long Secret Color extension is available in pink, red, purple, and blue colors, and is priced at $19.99 plus $5.99 S&H (note: you’ll only be charged for S&H once per order, regardless of how many Secret Colors you order).

Secret Color extensions come with a 30-day money back guarantee, less S&H charges (see more about this in the following section). In order to initiate the process, you’ll need to contact customer service at 844-795-4479.

Can Secret Color Extensions Provide You with Hair Color that Looks Like the Real Thing?

Sure, adding a little color to your hair can be a great way of expressing yourself and letting your unique personality shine through. But are Secret Color extensions a good way to accomplish this? Maybe, but keep the following in mind before placing your order:

Association with Secret Extensions

First, keep in mind that Secret Color is made by Allstar Products Group, the same company that manufactures Secret Extensions. Why is this important? Because based on more than 120 HighYa consumer reviews, Secret Extensions has a 1.5-star rating, with the most common complaint citing poor product quality (does not look like real hair, very thin and does not add fullness, headband stretches out quickly, etc.).

With this said, Secret Color extensions are made using the same keratin-conditioned polyester fibers as Secret Extensions (in fact, they appear to be the very same product, just in brighter, bolder colors), so you could reasonably expect much of the same.

“As Seen on TV” Product

Although Allstar Products Group is one of the major players in the “As Seen on TV” industry, in addition quality, another big concern with these types of products is customer service. As such, continuing from the above example, the second most common complaint for Secret Extensions is poor customer service, which includes very long shipping times, upsells during phone calls, no responses to inquiries, etc.

In addition, many ASOTV manufacturers will sell your information to third-party companies, and Secret Color appears to be no different. According to the website’s Privacy Policy, your information may be used “to obtain information and offers for products and services offered by Site as well as selected third parties.”

Other Secret Color Concerns

Finally, here are some other important things to keep in mind if you’re thinking about purchasing Secret Color Extensions:

Considering all the negative reports related to the Secret Extensions headband, you may experience much of the same with Secret Color. However, these headbands are not replaceable, which means that if yours stretches out, you’ll have to by another extension altogether.

Also, make sure that you never brush your Secret Color extension when wet. In addition, even though the manufacturer claims that it can be curled and straightened, your curling iron or straight iron should not exceed 320F, so it’s important that your hair tools are adjustable.

Bottom line:

Because Secret Color extensions appear to be re-branded Secret Extensions, you may want to speak with a hair care professional about more effective methods of incorporating color into your hair.

Pros:

  • Secret Color extensions are claimed to give your hair some color without the commitment.
  • Claims to blend in perfectly with your natural hair, and the attached headband is basically invisible.
  • 30-day refund policy.

Cons:

  • Appears to be a re-branded version of Secret Extensions, which does not have high customer satisfaction ratings.
  • Refund policy does not include S&H charges.

  • Pretty cool

    • New Braunfels, TX,
    • Jul 4, 2016

I found it at Dollar Tree for just $1 so I am pretty impressed for the amount of change I dished out. They only had red and purple and I got purple for my daughter, I tried it on first and it was pretty cool. Looked good to me, easy to put on. My daughter loves it but then again she is only 5 and purple is her favorite color so she wouldn't have much reason to not like it. I would probably pay $5 to $10 for it, I don't think it would be worth $20 like they try to sell it for on TV though.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Not what i expected.

The plastic hair band is too large and there is no way to hide it. So it looks ridiculous.

Okay for a quick pop of color

    • Novato, CA,
    • Jun 20, 2015

I have read a lot of reviews for this slamming it but I personally liked this product. It's a quick fix for a pop of color. Seeing as the product was only $19.99, I was not expecting for this to be grade a quality extensions. The only thing that bugged me was the length of the hair but other than that, it is ok.
