About Sevan Skin Serum

Sevan Skin Serum claims to use clinically proven skincare technology to help decrease lines and fine wrinkles, increase collagen production, and reduce the appearance of dark circles. In fact, the company claims you’ll look up to 10 years younger!

In order to accomplish this, Sevan Skin Serum helps improve the health and hydration of your skin, leading to “powerful” wrinkle repair. From a clinical perspective, after 8 weeks and twice daily application, the manufacturer claims that several hundred women experienced an average of:

  • 84% decrease in fine lines and wrinkles
  • 95% increase in collagen production
  • 73% decrease in the appearance of dark circles

Do these claims in any way reflect reality? Is Sevan Skin Serum really “clinically proven to reduce the aging process at the cellular level”? Is that even possible? Keep reading and we’ll help answer all your questions.

What Causes Aging?

Want to know something really weird? Despite all the clinical evidence available for thousands of different conditions, the scientific community largely doesn’t understand why we age. Sure, they understand how we age (mostly through cell death), but not why this cell death takes place to begin with.

While the death of a single cell isn’t a big deal, after enough cells die from the natural aging process, the damage will accumulate to a degree where physical signs will begin to manifest; muscle cells die and we get weaker, brain cells die and decrease our cognitive function, pigment cells die and leave us with gray hair. What about skin, though?

The most apparent signs of aging (e.g. wrinkles and sagging) are caused by the loss of collagen and elastin within the skin. These proteins are responsible for supporting the skin’s underlying structure and providing elasticity, respectively. While we have an abundance of these proteins when we’re young, our body produces less and less collagen and elastin as we age, causing lines to turn into wrinkles, and firm skin to become saggy.

Is There a Way to Reverse the Aging Process?

Now, you might wonder: “Why not inject these proteins directly into the skin, or apply them using a cream? Wouldn’t that solve the problem of aging skin?”

Make an appointment with any cosmetic surgeon, and you’ll find that collagen can be injected directly into your skin. However, these procedures work by plumping skin and smoothing out any lines and wrinkles, not by helping your body increase collagen production. As such, it’s only considered a temporary solution.

On the other hand, most topical ingredients aren’t absorbed into the skin, since it’s really good at keeping the outside, well … on the outside. Because of this, they just sit on the surface of your skin until being washed off or evaporating.

While there’s no known way to reverse the aging the process in humans, there are many things you can do to decrease premature aging. These include avoiding excessive sun exposure (wear sunscreen!), quitting smoking, using the correct products for your skin type, eating a balanced diet and getting plenty of exercise, and more.

Is there anything contained in Sevan Skin Serum that can help, though?

What Ingredients Does Sevan Skin Serum Contain? Are They Unique?

Taking a look at Sevan’s website, we’re only told about 6 ingredients:

  • Biosphere
  • QuSome delivery
  • Biofil spheres
  • Face firming peptide
  • Vitamins
  • Antioxidants

Between the first three, QuSome is the only one that appears to be legitimate, which is a proprietary ingredient that claims to improve the efficacy of other ingredients, but doesn’t provide any benefits itself.

There are currently several different “face firming peptides” used within the anti-aging industry, so this terms doesn’t really tell us much. Similarly, although vitamins and antioxidants can be beneficial for your skin, these terms are so broad that they’re essentially meaningless.

Getting a sense of déjà vu? Like you’ve seen these ingredients somewhere before?

This Template Will Self-Destruct In 3, 2, …

Whenever the HighYa team reviews a new product, unless we’ve tested it first-hand (in which case we’ll specifically mention it), we generally try to avoid opinions, instead basing everything on facts.

However, in the instance of anti-aging products like Sevan Skin Serum, we feel confident stating that we think you should be wary any time you see this type of website. Why?

In Avoid These Anti-Aging Websites Like the Plague, we took a deep dive into the online-only anti-aging industry and uncovered how many less-than-stellar companies will reuse the same template over and over again. Basically, once a product accumulates too much negative customer feedback, they’ll pull the site, create another one after changing the product name and picture, purchase a new URL, and be back in business in just a couple hours.

Want to see for yourself? Compare Sevan’s website with that of Nuplenish Skincare, Brilliant Skin Serum, and True Derma Lift (we could go on, but you get the idea). They’re all but identical, right?

In fact, for all we know, all these anti-aging creams could be the exact same product, just repackaged under different names!

But, what’s got customers so upset? We’ll get to that in just a second, but first, let’s talk about how Sevan Skin Serum is sold.

Why Is Sevan Skin Serum Only Sold Through a “Free” Trial?

The only way to purchase Sevan Skin Serum (or any of these other identical anti-aging products) is through their trial, where you’ll pay $4.95 S&H and receive a full size 30-day supply.

After 14 days, you’ll be billed the ultra-high price of $89.75! You’ll also be enrolled in the company’s autoship program, which will ensure you continue receiving a new bottle of Sevan Skin Serum once per month and billed another $89.75 each time.

Want to cancel your trial, stop your recurring shipments, or request a refund? You’ll need to call customer service at 888-302-5373. How easy will this be?

Does Sevan Skin Serum Have Good Online Customer Reviews?

Although Sevan Skin Serum didn’t have any legitimate online customer reviews at the time of our research, feedback for many of the identical products discussed above was generally poor. Here on HighYa, they had an average rating of 1 star (read: be very careful) with common complaints citing failure to work, excessively high prices, and ultra-poor customer service.

To this last point, many customers claimed they were met with extremely rude service personnel who all but refused to help them. Many were even hung up on, while others were required to dispute the charges with their credit card company in order to make them stop. In our opinion, many of these underhanded companies operate with the hope that you’ll eventually give up, while they hang on to your hard-earned money.

Is Sevan Skin Serum a Common Anti-Aging Scam?

As we’ve mentioned in many of our reviews for similar products, we’d love to give Sevan Skin Serum the benefit of the doubt. However, based on the claims and marketing tactics shared with dozens of essentially identical products—all of which come with universally poor customer feedback that consistently cites the same complaints—we think your money would b much better spent speaking with your dermatologist instead of ordering Sevan Skin Serum.

    Sevan Face cream

I had a duh moment and ordered. I thought it was worth a try just for shipping cost. I fact checked after I ordered and saw all the reviews.

I immediately called the credit card company. They had already flagged my account with a fraudulent charge.

This was less than 5 minutes after I ordered. I will keep an eye on my account. They had already tried to bill me for auto ship.

The product came anyway. I threw it out. Always fact check before you order anything! Lesson learned.

    Auto pay

I had auto pay and canceled without a problem. I still had quite a bit of serum so that is why I canceled for now. The product really works.

Thanks for giving me a clue.

After reading your reviews I looked and saw that they had already taken out an extra $1.49 from my bank account. I called my bank and canceled my bank card that I used to order Sevan and put a block on all future activities from them. They had put a different name on the charge, but my bank figured out that it was the same company. Once again, thank you!

Dont be fooled like I was. Get ready to turn $4.95 to $170+ a month, even after you cancel. Good luck with the "100% money back guarantee."

    • FL,
    • Sep 13, 2016

I saw this product on a commercial with Christie Brinkley and thought that with the "100% money back guarantee and for only 4.95 S&H" I would try it. I received the product and gave it a week. Not impressed, in fact, I broke out and at 52 I have never had a problem with "acne". I cancelled and got a confirmation number. I was not happy at all with the product. I even offered to send it back. I then got an email asking why I cancelled and how my experience was with the Representative. My first call was as bad as my 2nd, 3rd and 4th call. Nonetheless, I thought my "free trial" was over.

Today I got the product and another product and my credit card was charged $170.00 plus tax. I had to call 2 toll free numbers, 888-263-5782 and 888-302-5373. I was put on hold and "Steven" the person who finally called me back (they will give you an option to not hold which was a joke as I did get put on hold) and they would call back. Steven did and the nightmare got worse. "Steven" said he had no proof I cancelled. I told him I did, provided my confirmation number from my previous calls and even had an email from my "reasons on cancellation" and to rate my experience with the representative who took the cancellation.

"Steven" tried to sell me more products. After 20 minutes of waiting for a supervisor "Steven" told me he would do what "he was not suppose to do" and refund my money but it would take 5 to 7 days and gave me another confirmation number. I called back to confirm and the "new sales rep" showed no notes on the cancellation and again, I had to go through all the details again and was told the "supervisor" was too busy to take my call. My husband and I cancelled our credit card as we feel this is a total scam. Do not fall for this bogus product.

I am angered. Not only did they not stand by their "guarantee" they never cancelled my original order and "Steven" was very rude. To tell a customer who cancelled their original order there was not a supervisor as they were too busy to take my call and then try to sell me more products, is very shady. I looked up "Sevan" by Christie Brinkley and sure enough, the limited time only product has the same offer "just 4.95 trial". Funny that this limited time only product is still readily available after 3 weeks.

And be aware, they will also send you a eye creme from Mystere Eye Crème and a phone number for that company as well. Shame on me for "trusting" this bogus offer, but shame on them for ripping people off. To get them to even stop sending the product and charging me again, let alone no one has any notes documented, has been a total nightmare to say the least. Steer clear and be aware that you will get charged again even after cancelling their bogus 100% money back guarantee.

Don't get scammed like I was. Shame on you Christie Brinkley for putting out a commercial to scam trusting customers. Smiling your way all the way to the bank. I would be smiling too. We have cancelled our credit card and will chalk this $175+ loss to yet another scam that trusting people fall for. CONSUMER BEWARE.

    Scam

    • Ohio,
    • Sep 5, 2016

Sent for what I thought was a free trial with only shipping charges. Several days after I received it I was charged a total of over $170 for the face cream and also for an eye cream I felt forced to order. I called the company and was told the 14 days starts the day it is ordered and unless you call during that period the billing will be automatic. I only had the product several days. I was told there is absolutely no way to receive a refund. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told no. At this point I was told there was nothing further he could do and he hung up on me. I didn't even want to give one star but it was required.

    Total Scam

I did the trial for the vitamin c, anti-aging serum, and eye cream. I actually think me skin looks WORSE now than it did before I used the product. Now, they just keep charging my card and sending more and more product and it's been a nightmare trying to cancel it. In fact, my next call is to the credit card company. I might have to close the account to stop these charges. A TOTAL MESS.

Do not purchase free trial. It's a scam.

    • Fisk, MO,
    • Jul 26, 2016

This is a scam. I received my money $4.95 back, also $1.49 for insurance that I was not told about. This is how I did it. First and foremost, call you bank and have any future charges from these people blocked.

I placed my order. Afterwards I looked up customer reviews and found out that they will charge my acct $86.00 within 14 days, I did not see this anywhere on their site. It's a scam.

I called within an hour of placing my order. After telling them over and over again that I did not want their discounts, I just wanted to cancel the whole thing. He finally canceled it or so I thought. He told me I would not be charged any money and I would not receive the product: Sevan Skin Serum.

Well, they did charge me and I did receive the serum. I called them immediately.

The first 3 people I spoke to said I did cancel future orders but did authorize the trial amount. He told me the order was canceled, why would I use the word "refund". I specifically said that the whole thing is canceled, he said yes. They are trained to lie. They bank on people to get frustrated and letting them keep the $7.00.

One told me that because I didn't use the word "refund", it was my fault. These people work in a call center, they deal with all kinds of products that are scams as well.

One told me the first guy I spoke to was in training and made a mistake, which I was still responsible for. Lol, yeah - NO.

I called back over and over again. The first thing I asked is their name, employee number, their location and what company they work for (you will get different answers). Do this BEFORE you give them your info. I wrote the info down and had them go over my account, I explained the problem every time. Be very calm and polite. By the third call they began telling me that it was their mistake but they were not authorized to make the refund. I asked for a manger or boss, they will either tell you there isn't one or that they are not located in their facility, ask them where the facility is, they won't tell you but the conversations are recorded. Get them to say these things over and over, every time you call.

Finally, the 5th person was suddenly able to authorize my refund. They also told me to keep their crappy product. I called 2 more times asking the same questions and verifying that I was indeed going to get my money back. They gave me a reference number, which I also had the last 2 people confirm.

In the first few calls they will tell you that they are sorry that they couldn't come to a resolution and hang up.

Keep calling over and over till you get them to say you will be refunded. By calling constantly they realize you're going to be a problem and will not give up. The number is: (888) 302-5373.

Remember be overly polite. Like when they tell you where they are located, ask about the weather. It lets their guard down. Be persistent. Do not get frustrated and give up. It's your money, they lied to you and you have every right to get your money back, even if it only $7.00.

Also you must do this within the 14 day trial period. Cancel as soon as you realize you've been scammed.

Make sure to report them to the Consumer Affairs on a .gov site, also the Better Business Bureau. Write your experience on as many sites, like this one, you can find. This is the only way to stop these people.

I also sent emails to Dr. Phil telling him what I think about his wife promoting these scams by promoting Sevan Skin Serum.

I would give zero stars but you can't. Good luck.

    Do not order.

    • Tennessee,
    • Jul 2, 2016

Ordered trial, by 4th day my face was broke out. I'm 45 with acne. Under eye cream caused rash and redness under eyes. I contacted them at 888-302-5373 to cancel the trial. They wanted to charge me $80 to keep the trial after canceling subscription. Why would I keep it? Then got rude and they gave me the address to mail back. So I was charged $12.00 for the trial. And I have to pay to send bit ack or pay for it. Don't order this.

    $4.95 cancellation fee.

    • Mt. Pleasant, SC,
    • Jun 30, 2016

So after finding this post, I made sure to call and cancel so I wouldn't receive any more shipments. But they socked me with a $4.95 cancelation fee! I guess they have to make their money somehow. I cannot speak to the product's effectiveness since I have only used it one day.

Hidden auto renewals at high cost.

    • Kearns, Utah,
    • Jun 11, 2016

I just happened to find out after receiving my orders, that an $89 auto renewal was set up without my knowledge. The gentleman I spoke with at customer service verified this and while he was very polite, he kept discounting the price and offered a lifetime 50% off renewal.

After I advised him I would prefer to purchase the product again if it worked, he mentioned a few more lower prices to keep me from being charged for not sending back what I had not used. At the end, I did receive two cancellation numbers and was under the impression that was the end.

We shall see if a bill attempt is made, I have a recorded call and two cancellation numbers. Very sketchy Sevan. The hidden costs get you one star, even if your products were that fountain of youth.

    Sevan Skin Serum trial offer

I was impressed with the online advertising and use of celebrity names to support the claims for Sevan Skin Serum.

However, the sales technique using a trial offer is a total scam. Steps are simple and straight forward as one begins the online order process. Just before completion of the order the customer is directed to a page containing an "add-on" product. I was forced to order an eye cream called Mystere that I really did not want.

The products arrived promptly by mail. I tried the Sevan Serum first and was instantly impressed with the results. My skin did appear smoother and brighter within minutes of applying the serum.

I used the Mystere eye cream the next day and was extremely disappointed. Within a few days I experienced burning and developed red areas under my eyes. There was no advertising on the website for the eye cream, no claims of its benefits or ingredients. Within fourteen days I was charged full price for both of my trial products! Even though I read the fine print carefully I feel I was mislead. My understanding was I would be billed for additional products after one month unless I canceled.

I did contact customer service and was told despite my reaction the company would not allow me to return the opened jar of Mystere eye cream and I will not get a refund. I paid almost one hundred dollars for junk, a scam. Buyer beware! I am very disappointed in the sales techniques being used by this company.

The Sevan Skin Serum is a nice product! But the customer service and scam technique to sell other useless products devalues the entire experience.
