About SKIL Ratch-N-Lock

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock boasts it’s the most innovative hand tool on the market. This is because they claim it is a self-adjusting ratchet, pliers, and clamp combined. They say it’s so easy to use that both handymen and handywomen can work it with one hand.

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock has the familiar SKIL brand logo. However, upon closer examination this product appears to merely license the SKIL name. The company behind it is called Iron Bridge Tools, who design their products in the US and manufacture them in China. Iron Bridge currently has a B+ rating from the BBB.

How SKIL Ratch-N-Lock Works

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock is a handheld tool with red handles. What they say makes it so unique is its ability to function like a reversible ratchet, a pair of groove joint pliers, or a clamp with the push of a button.

They say the mechanics behind Ratch-N-Lock are the spring-loaded ratcheting cams and self-adjusting jaws that can grip various bolt shapes and sizes up to 1-3/8 inches. They boast it’s as simple to use as grip, lock, and ratchet.

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock Pricing, Shipping, and Returns

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock sells for $19.99 plus $5.99 S&H for a total of $25.98. If you do not like it, you can return within 30 days for your $19.99 back (they keep the shipping and you have to pay the return postage).

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock includes:

  • SKIL Ratch-N-Lock
  • 22 Piece Precision Screwdriver Set

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock Privacy Policy

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock asks a lot for their $25.98. Not only do they want the ability to use your name, address, email, and phone number for their own marketing and research purposes, they also want “from time to time” to allow certain “reputable” third parties to contact you as well. See their Privacy Policy page for all the juicy details.

Bottom Line: Is SKIL Ratch-N-Lock a Scam?

SKIL Ratch-N-Lock is not manufactured by SKIL and is manufactured in China. While this may not necessarily be a deal-breaker, it gives you an idea as to the quality you should expect. There have been complaints that the Ratch-N-Lock is shoddily made and gets stuck between settings. Add to that the repulsive Privacy Policy and this “ratchets” up our reaction to say: “Stay away.”
