What Is Snorifix?
Snorifix is an anti-snoring chin strap that promises to help you sleep more quietly throughout the night. The product features a simplistic, adjustable design that wraps around the head and is positioned just under the chin in order to help keep your airway open.
According to the Natural Sleep Foundation, snoring is a very common problem across all ages and genders. Approximately 90 million American adults deal with snoring, with some 37 million doing so on a regular basis. Those numbers are staggering, and it’s clear that there is a problem to be solved here, but can Snorifix deliver this solution to you?
Before we can answer this question, we need to ask another; what exactly is the root cause of snoring? Are there multiple? Let’s find out below.
What Causes Snoring?
Put simply, snoring is the result of vibrating tissues in your throat that are causing a partial blockage of the airflow to your lungs.
Snorifix focuses on snoring issues stemming from the mouth, and according to an overview by WebMD, this can be caused by the following reasons:
- “Enlarged tissues in the nose, mouth, or throat. Enlarged tonsils are a frequent cause of snoring in children.
- Blocked nasal passages, which make it more difficult to inhale. This affects the tissue of the throat, which may pull together during the extra effort it takes to breathe, which in turn narrows the airway. A blocked nasal passage can be caused by an upper respiratory infection (such as a cold), an allergy, or nasal polyps.
- A deviated nasal septum, which disturbs airflow in the nose.
- Loss of muscle tone in the throat, which makes it easier for tissue to collapse. This can be due to aging or lack of fitness.”
Additionally, the following can contribute to the issue:
- “Drinking alcohol, which depresses the part of the brain that regulates breathing. This can overly relax the tongue and throat muscles, causing them to partially block air movement.
- Obesity. Fat in the throat may narrow the airway.
- Medicines that relax you or make you drowsy, such as those taken for allergies, depression, or anxiety.”
The complications that can arise from snoring range widely across various aspects of your life, from causing daytime fatigue and sleepiness to increasing your risk for heart conditions, high blood pressure, and stroke, according to the Mayo Clinic. Snorfix seems to hint at a few of these issues in their explainer video as well.
The Mayo Clinic article also lists additional issues that can arise, such as more frequent frustration or anger, difficulty concentrating, an increase of aggression, and an increased risk of vehicular accidents, due largely to fatigue.
In more serious cases, snoring can be associated with a condition called disruptive sleep apnea, in which the skin inside your throat partially or fully blocks the airway for long periods while you sleep. The symptoms of this can often closely mirror regular snoring, but can also carry with it signs of sore throat, headaches, problems with sexual function, and night sweats.
Clearly, snoring is more serious than you might at first think. Perhaps you’re even dealing with some of these symptoms now, and are looking to Snorifix to provide a possible solution. This leads us back to our earlier question; can the chin strap really provide snoring relief?
A Deeper Look At Various Snoring Treatments
According to MedicineNet.com, commercial products like chin straps might be subjectively effective, but also might be less scientifically studied and recommended. Even if a chinstrap works right off the bat, they state there have been reports of nightly variations in their general effectiveness.
In addition, if your snoring is the result of a nasal issue, it stands to reason that a chin strap like Snorifix might not be an ideal product to use, as it only affects the positioning of the jaw, and thereby, the mouth.
Many different conventional treatment options exist for more serious cases of both mouth and nasal snoring, such as surgical procedures that stiffen up the tissue in the throat (like a throat facelift of sorts) to prevent the folding that causes snoring and even sleep apnea.
There are also dental inserts, nasal sprays, and other prescription options that might help you, depending on the exact nature of the issue you are dealing with. Ultimately, because there are so many options available, and because many of them are dependent upon your unique situation, we’d recommend visiting with your doctor or sleep specialist when trying to determine which course of action is right for you.
This way, you can be sure that you are receiving the best advice (and the clearest path forward) towards a snoring-free lifestyle.
In addition to all of this, WebMD offers various lifestyle treatments that might be effective at helping to alleviate snoring, including losing weight, sleeping on your side instead of your back, avoiding alcohol and sedatives before bedtime, and elevating your head during sleep.
Snorifix Pricing & Returns
Snorifix is currently available directly from the manufacturer as a “Buy One Get One Free” offer. The product will run you $89, and shipping & handling are free.
As for the return policy, you have 14 days from the date of purchase to return the device in an unopened state for a refund. The company explicitly states that an opened product cannot be returned, so it’s important to keep this in mind going into a potential purchase.
Snorifix Vs Alternative Snoring Solutions
Simply typing “Anti-snoring chin strap” into Google will reveal that there are literally hundreds of different products out on the market today that are designed to help eliminate the issue of snoring.
Of these products, many are very similiar to Snorifix in terms of their design. For instance, many of the designs we saw had similar holes for the ears, similar adjustment systems, and were made for both men and women, like Snorifix.
Several of these products are available on marketplaces like Amazon.com, most of which are priced anywhere from $10 to $40. Nothing completely unique stood out to us, however, some products had hundreds of customer reviews discussing their apparent effectiveness, with users praising their ability to relieve snoring and help them get a better night's sleep.
That being said, it wasn’t all praise that we encountered for these products. Some reviewers complained of sweating and heat issues when wearing chin straps, and others talked about pain throughout the night when wearing a particular popular model.
Additionally, you’ll need to determine if a chin strap is even the ideal solution for your snoring in general. As we learned earlier, these devices are really only expected to help if you are an open mouth snorer. The makers of Snorifix even acknowledge this on their website, stating that their device is not meant for those suffering from partial or full nasal blockage.
So, what does this all mean for you in the end?
The Bottom Line: Is Snorifix Effective?
Based upon everything that we’ve learned about snoring, as well as the various treatments attributed to it, we have a few parting thoughts about Snorifix.
On one hand, the device features a straightforward design that seems as though it has potential for relieving moderate mouth-based snoring, based on the information we’ve gathered above from authoritative sources, as well as firsthand accounts from reviews of various competing (but highly similar) products.
On the other, these reviewers were talking about other products, not Snorifix specifically, and without testing the device ourselves, we have no surefire way to fully evaluate its effectiveness.
Additionally, as reported above, the device will cost you $89, while popular alternatives with hundreds of positive reviews (compared to the zero we found during our research for the Snorifix) are readily available on markets like Amazon for a fraction of that price.
Our best advice is to keep all of these things in mind when going into a potential purchase, or when speaking with your doctor about choosing an effective solution that’s right for you.
