About SonicGroom by Micro Touch

SonicGroom by Micro Touch is an all-in-one precision grooming tool that can clean up beards and mustaches, chest and body, necklines, and more.

SonicGroom works by using an advanced micro-foil trimming head to lift hair and sweep it away, while the snap-on guides make trimming “as easy as combing your hair.” And unlike traditional razors, SonicGroom can give you a “blade-close shave” but remain safe to the touch.

The company claims that this means SonicGroom is the one groomer you can trust for all your manscaping needs.

Yeah, SonicGroom looks pretty cool, with its smooth design and blue light near the blade. But will this grooming tool help you look your best? We’ll start by taking a look at its technology.

Technology Used in SonicGroom

During the SonicGroom commercial, you probably noticed that the groomer seems to use a lot of advanced technology. Things like “sonic power,” MicroTouch technology, and an “advanced trimming head.” But what does this all mean?

By definition, sonic is defined as “of or relating to sound,” or “noting or pertaining to a speed equal to that of sound in air.” Does this mean that SonicGroom’s trimming blades move at the speed of sound? We’re simply not told.

We’re also not told exactly what MicroTouch technology is, other than that it lifts hair for a blade-close shave. You know what else lifts hair and sweeps it away? Pretty much any other body groomer on the market.

Let’s talk more about these options.

Similar Body Groomers as SonicGroom by Micro Touch

If you want to see hundreds of body groomers in all shapes and sizes, simply type the phrase “body groomer” into your favorite search engine.

One of the first things you’ll notice is that the majority of these use the same “micro-foil” trimming head as SonicGroom, which is just a fancy name for the removable screen that fits over the blade.

Another thing that you’ll notice is that many of these options are priced lower than SonicGroom, especially when you factor in its high, non-refundable S&H charges (more about this next).

Lastly, you’ll soon realize that many of these body groomer options are available at local retailers like Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, and more. Not only can this save you even more in S&H charges, it can also make the return process easier if you’re not satisfied.

Now, let’s take a look at SonicGroom’s price and S&H charges.

Is SonicGroom Expensive?

SonicGroom by Micro Touch is priced at $39.99 plus $4.99 S&H. This includes:

  • Micro-Foil Shaving Head
  • Advanced Trimming Head
  • 2 Snap-On Guides
  • Cleaning Brush

SonicGroom comes with a 30-day refund policy. This means you could lose around $10 just for giving the body groomer a try, which could certainly be considered steep.

If you need to request a refund, you’ll need to contact SonicGroom’s manufacturer at 866-972-4739.

Who Makes SonicGroom?

SonicGroom is manufactured by Idea Village, a fairly large company within the ASOTV industry. Some of the company’s best sellers is their line of MicroTouch products, including the One Razor, Tough Blade, Pocket Barber, Switchblade, and of course, the new SonicGroom.

These products have an average rating of 3 stars here on HighYa, among hundreds of reader reviews. While many customer claimed to have been pleased with their purchase, some of the most common complaints centered around poor quality, failure to work as well as the manufacturer claimed, and poor customer service (difficulty processing refunds and cancelling orders).

Will you experience the same with SonicGroom? It’s difficult to say, but certainly worth keeping in mind.

What’s not difficult to say is why you might want to consider local options first.

Is SonicGroom by Micro Touch Right for You?

Can SonicGroom provide you with a clean shave, wherever you might need it? There’s no reason to think it can’t. Will it shave as closely as a razor? We definitely have our doubts (just as we would with any other groomer).

Perhaps most importantly though, will SonicGroom provide you with a solid value for the money? While this body groomer might be a good option, you’re basically rolling the dice—and roughly $10 in non-refundable S&H charges—if you decide to give it a shot.

You’ll also be required to re-box the SonicGroom, visit the post office, and ship it back to the manufacturer if you’re not pleased, which might prove to be more of a hassle than it’s worth.

Instead, we’d recommend checking out local options first. Pretty much any big box retailer will carry at least a couple body groomers for you to choose from. Granted, they might not feature the same sleek design and cool blue light as SonicGroom, but they’ll work essentially the same.

This way, you’ll be able to see what you’re buying before making a purchase, potentially save money in S&H charges, and make the overall return process easier.

  • Alternative to razors for those on blood thinners

I was a skeptic when I purchased this product but after getting used to it I found it is an excellent alternative for those of us who are on blood thinner medications. I have a beard and mustache but shave my head and would use the Gillette Fusion razor to shave it every other day. As careful as one can be, there were times I nicked or cut my head and it bled sometimes for over 30 minutes.

When I got used to the Sonic Groom for Men I was surprised how well it shaved my head. The downside is I need to shave daily. But NO nicks or cuts. My companion expressed how smooth my head was using the Sonic Groom.

So based on my experience the initial recommendation would be to have the company design a blade for shaving the head to make the process go more quickly.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    First Use - Terrible Job

    • Clearwater, FL,

I just used this for the first time. I wish I had the foresight to look for reviews before I bought it. DO NOT waste your time and money. This gets no where as close as a razor.

    Works great for me.

    • Guelph, ON,
    • Feb 6, 2016

It's been a full week since I received my Sonic Groomer, and I have been using it a lot. It has two full recharges (comes with rechargeable Lithium Batteries). Each charge lasts 45-60 minutes. Initial charge takes two and a half hours.

If you can see it, you can remove it easily and pain free. If you can't see, but it's within reach, you can remove it, but might knick yourself, although it's not too painful. I have removed hair from my knuckles, toes, above my feet and on top of my hands. I also used it on my groin area (including sensitive areas), my lower backside, the back of my neck, and my entire chest. This trimmer has also become my everyday electric shaver, it's as good as any electric shaver on the market. I trimmed my mustache with it, and the end result was the best trim I have ever had. It took about two minutes.

I was more than willing to try this product and return it if I was not satisfied. Personally, I'm thinking about buying a second one because I don't want to ever be without it. Just so you know, some of the websites that review this product do not show the positive reviews, because they obviously want people to think that this is not a good product. But that is far from the truth.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Not impressed

    • Orlando, FL,
    • Feb 3, 2016

After trying SonicGroom by Mircro Touch for the first time, I was very disappointed. Not only did I not get a close shave as promised, I had to go over the same are more than once. This product is a sonic boom, not a Sonic Groom.

    Worse product and company ever

    • Canada,
    • Jan 31, 2016

They charged me $45.63 for shipping. Shipped product COD. Never got everything I ordered. It took six months to receive. When called customer service they were nasty and did not want to help. Still waiting for complete order. I think the product sucks, doesn't work good at all because it leaves legs burned with hair still on them. Customer services lied to me and were rude. I had to give one star for rating even when I wanted to give less. Stay away!

    Rip off

    • Port St. Lucie, FL,
    • Dec 27, 2015

I purchased the product and it took over a month to get it. I used it for couple days. The product at no time gave me anywhere near a good shave. I sent the product back with the authorization number and after 14 days of the company receiving the product, I still have l no refund. I was advised via email that I would receive a refund within 2-3 days of the product being delivered to the company.
