About Splash Away Bath Mat
Billed as the “ultimate water soaking bath mat to keep your floors dry,” the Splash Away Bath Mat’s super absorbent, super soft micro-fiber technology is claimed to hold up to 20X its weight in water, which means you’ll never have to worry about keeping your floors dry.
In order to accomplish this, Splash Away Bath Mat’s micro-fiber fingers are claimed to quickly pull any water deep inside, leaving a soft, fluffy, and dry exterior that feels great on your feet. On top of this, Splash Mat features a non-skid backing to make sure it remains in place.
And when the time comes to clean up, your 14” X 19” Splash Away Bath Mat is machine washable, making it perfect not just for the bath, but for the pool, patio, boat, and RV as well.
Sure, the Splash Away Bath Mat looks so comfortable that you could sleep on it. But does it provide good water absorption, and is it a solid value for your money? Consider the following:
What Are Microfibers?
As it turns out, the answer to this question might be more nuanced than you think. Why?
Because mircrofiber technically references the thickness of a woven fiber, not the material it’s made from. AustinLinen.com puts it this way:
“Microfiber is composed of very finely woven fibers, defined by their thickness, or denier, which is the measurement of a fiber’s thickness. A high denier points to a material of higher thickness, a low denier is one of lower thickness.
For a material to be considered microfiber, it must be less than 1 denier in diameter. For comparison, consider that fine silk measures at 1.25 deniers; thus, microfibers are made in the lab instead of forming naturally in nature. They can be made from wood pulp, or polyester and nylon polymers. Microfiber sheets are very thin, but are strong and exceptionally smooth and comfortable.”
With this in mind, we can’t be sure exactly what types of fibers Splash Away Bath Mat contains, whether or not they even qualify as microfibers, or how we’ll they’ll absorb water in the real world.
Are Some Materials Better for Bath Mats than Others?
Like so many other products (especially those related to the bathroom), bath mats are a highly personal purchasing decision, so what will suit you may not work for someone else.
For many of the pros and cons associated with common bath mat materials, be sure to read this quick article: Types of Bathroom Rugs Things You Need to Know.
Is Splash Away the Only Bath Mat in Town?
Finally, keep in mind that microfiber bath mats are nothing new, and are widely available online as well as at local retailers, many of which are less expensive than Splash Away, especially considering its high, non-refundable S&H charges (more about this in the Pricing section).
In addition, remember that with only 1 or 2 color options, the Splash Away Bath Mat may not match your bathroom’s décor, while you’ll have hundreds of different color options when purchasing through third-party retailers.
New Product = No Customer Reviews
Because Splash Away Bath Mat was very new at the time of our research, no online customer reviews were available.
However, Splash Away is manufactured by “As Seen on TV” giant Tristar Products, who also makes Clear TV, Perfecter Fusion Styler, Power Pressure Cooker XL, and many more. What are hundreds of HighYa readers saying about these products?
While a few seem to have been happy with their purchase, most appear to have been dissatisfied. As a result, customers rated these products an average of 2 stars, with common complaints citing failure to work as advertised and poor customer service experiences.
Although this might be the case, this doesn’t mean you’ll experience the same with your Splash Away Bath Mat, although it’s worth keeping in mind.
Splash Away Bath Mat Pricing & Refund Policy
One beige Splash Away Bath Mat is priced at $19.99 plus $7.99 S&H, although you’ll be able to purchase a second in ivory at checkout for an additional $7.99 S&H.
Splash Away Bath Mat comes with a 60-day refund policy, less S&H charges. This means that by the time you ship your Bath Mats back to the company, you could lose more in non-refundable S&H charges than you’ll receive as a refund.
Splash Away also comes with a 60-day warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. However, with warranty claims, you’ll be responsible for shipping your Splash Away Bath Mat back to the manufacturer, and will also have to pay $14.99 for them to ship it back to you.
In order to request a refund or process a warranty claim, you’ll need to contact customer service at 973-287-5179 (long distance charges may apply).
Will Splash Away Bath Mat Soak It Up or Leave Your Washed Up?
If you’ve read through any of our other previous ASOTV product reviews, you know that most of these products seem to fall far short of customer expectations, and to provide no better (and in many instances, worse) performance than competitor’s products available through local retailers.
Because of these same concerns regarding Splash Away Bath Mat, we might recommend exploring nearby options before placing your order. At the very least, this could save you nearly $20 in lost S&H charges if you’re not pleased with your purchase.
