About Swivel Brite

Using built-in LEDs and 5X magnification, the Swivel Brite cordless mirror is claimed to feature a unique pivot motion that allows you to see from any angle, 360 degrees, clearly, and close up. In fact, the manufacturer claims that the Swivel Brite mirror is “like having 20/20 vision again.”

Because of its 6 built-in LEDs that mimic natural light, as well as its distortion free, optical quality mirror that shows fine details, Swivel Brite is claimed to be great for applying makeup, putting on jewelry, plucking eyebrows, putting in your contacts, and more.

On top of this, Swivel Brite can be detached from the magnet base and taken with you, or stored in any drawer when it’s not being used.

According to the company, Swivel Brite works over 3 simple steps, without the need for any tools:

  1. Attach Swivel Brite’s magnetic suction cup base (known as the PivotFlex base) to any smooth surface, such as a bathroom mirror.
  2. Then, secure Swivel Brite’s mirror to the curved magnet.
  3. Illuminate the built-in LED and adjust to the desired viewing angle. And because Swivel Brite is cordless, it won’t take up any of your counter space!

Sure, Swivel Brite’s manufacturer might make the mirror sound revolutionary, but is this actually the case? And if so, does Swivel Brite represent a solid investment?

Before answering all your important questions, let’s first take a look at how magnification mirrors work.

How Do Magnification Mirrors Work?

Because most mirrors are flat, they reflect light back to your eyes without distorting the image. In other words, what you see is exactly what’s there (except that it’s reversed, of course).

On the flip side, magnification mirrors feature a concave design (similar to the side of a spoon you see when eating), which concentrates the reflection and appears bigger by the time it reaches your eyes.

With this information in mind, it’s reasonable to assume that when it comes to magnification mirrors, you have lots of options. But is this actually the case?

Are There Other Magnification Mirrors Available?

In short, there are a ton. You can see this for yourself by typing the phrase “magnification mirror,” “beauty mirror,” or “cordless beauty mirror” into your favorite search engine. And if you’d rather not purchase anything online, you’ll almost certainly have dozens of magnification mirror options available through local retailers.

Granted, not all of these will feature the exact same design as Swivel Brite, although they might better address your needs. This is one reason why trying mirrors out in person might be a better option than purchasing something online sight unseen.

Compared to these other options though, is Swivel Brite a quality piece of equipment?

Is Swivel Brite Made from Quality Materials?

Clearly, the most important part of any magnification or beauty mirror is the reflecting surface. After all, if you can’t see what you’re doing, it’s essentially worthless.

To this end, we’re not informed about the materials used in Swivel Brite, although given the low quality reputation plaguing many ASOTV products, we’d have some concerns about how easily Swivel Brite’s mirror would scratch when stored in drawers or in your purse while you’re on the go.

What about Swivel Brite’s manufacturer though? Do they have a reputation for making high-quality products?

Who Makes Swivel Brite?

Swivel Brite is manufactured by Shop TV Products based out of Deerfield Beach, FL. Unfortunately, the company wasn’t listed with the Better Business Bureau at the time of our research, and no additional information was available elsewhere online.

We did find one Shop TV Products customer complaint on ScamGuard.com that referenced the company’s arbitration agreement, although no specific product was mentioned.

Speaking of which, we do know that Shop TV Products also makes the One Drop Fry Pan, which has 1 customer review here on HighYa and a 1-star rating. This is due to complaints of long shipping times and unreachable customer service. Granted, you might not experience the same with Swivel Brite, but it’s certainly worth keeping in mind.

Swivel Brite Pricing & Refund Policy

Two Swivel Brites are priced at $14.95 plus $13.90 S&H (no, that’s not a typo!).

All Swivel Brite purchases come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. This means that by the time you send your magnification mirrors back to the company, you could lose twice as much in S&H charges as you’ll receive as a refund.

In order to request a refund, you’ll need to contact Shop TV Products’s customer service department at 877-300-5499.

Can Swivel Brite Make Your Beauty Regimen Easier?

Ultimately, magnification mirrors are a dime a dozen, so it’s almost certain that—like most of the competition—Swivel Brite can help you see better when applying makeup, tweezing hair, putting on jewelry, and more.

However, what’s not certain is how much value you’ll get out of Swivel Brite. As we mentioned above, this is because many “As Seen on TV” products come with reputations for poor quality, so we’d have to wonder how long Swivel Brite’s LEDs will last, how well the PivotFlex base will hold up to repeated use, how easily the mirror will scratch, and more.

Because of these concerns, we’d recommend exploring local magnification mirror options before placing your Swivel Brite order. At the very least, this could same time and losing money in non-refundable S&H charges if you’re dissatisfied.
