About Thunder Saw

Thunder Saw is a small handheld saw that’s claimed to use a tungsten carbide blade to make quick work of the hardest cuts, regardless of the material, including copper, PVC pipes, rubber hoses, PVC blocks and bricks, and even stainless steel. And because Thunder Saw is strong enough to cut through a padlock but fine enough to cut glass without shattering, it’s claimed to be almost like having 4 different saws in one.

Despite Thunder Saw’s power, the manufacturer claims that its compact, switchblade-like design allows it to lock into different angles and to be stored just about anywhere, while the blade never wears out or needs sharpening. In fact, Thunder Saw’s blade is claimed to fit in the palm of your hand, without having to every worry about cutting your skin.

You’re handy, so you’re always looking for the latest and greatest tools that can help you get the job done faster. But is this what the Thunder Saw can provide, or will it simply cut through your hard-earned money? Consider the following:

Will Thunder Saw Work as Well as It Claims?

According to the manufacturer, Thunder Saw’s blade won’t cut your hand. However, during the product’s commercial, the spokesperson appears to simply rest the blade on the top of their hand, without applying any downward pressure. As you might imagine, except with the sharpest blades, most saw blades can lightly touch skin without cutting it, so this may be a little bit of an overstated claim.

On top of this, keep in mind that the Thunder Saw commercial only shows the saw in action during the last couple seconds of its cut, so there’s no real way to gauge how long this took. But if the blade uses more of a grinding action than a cutting one (based on how dull the blade is made to appear, in addition to the fact that it never has to be sharpened), this might have taken much longer than you’re led to believe.

Finally, if the blade grinds more than it cuts, the edges of the object you’re cutting may be much rougher than the Thunder Saw commercial makes it seem.

Are There Other Handheld Saw Options?

In addition to these concerns, handheld saws are not a new invention. As such, you’ll likely find dozens of options at your local hardware store, often priced much lower than Thunder Saw (more about this in the Pricing section).

Does Thunder Saw Make the Cut with Customers?

Thunder Saw was a brand new product at the time of our research, and didn’t have any online customer reviews available.

However, Thunder Saw is manufactured by Telebrands, who also makes a variety of other ASOTV products, including Amish Secret, Dump Cakes, and Wow Cup.

Based on nearly 75 HighYa reader reviews for these products, they have an average rating of 2 stars, with common complaints referencing poor quality products that don’t work as advertised, difficulty placing orders, and poor customer service (unresponsive to requests, numerous upsells during calls, etc.).

Granted, you may not experience the same with Thunder Saw, but it’s worth keeping in mind.

Thunder Saw Pricing & Refund Policy

Thunder Saw is priced at $19.99 plus $7.99 S&H, and the product’s website indicates that you can obtain a second for an additional $7.99 S&H. However, we weren’t presented with this BOGO offer when attempting to check out.

All Thunder Saw orders come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. Important note: This means you might lose more money in S&H charges than you’ll receive as a refund if you’re dissatisfied.

With this said, in order to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 855-668-1655.

Will the Thunder Saw Be the Last Saw You Ever Need?

Chopping to the point: Without any online customer reviews, it’s difficult to say whether or not Thunder Saw will ultimately work as well as it claims, our other concerns aside. However, based on the fact that numerous consumers have complained about the quality of some of the manufacturer’s other products, as well as its high, non-refundable S&H charges, you’ll definitely want to check local options before placing your order.

    Don't buy it

    • Hampton, Va,
    • Dec 16, 2015

I ordered my Thunder Saw almost 2 months ago and I have yet to receive it. I called the number and they only have automated ordering and no customer service to answer the phone. It tells you to call back due to high call volume. I will wait contacting the bank to get my money back.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Have not received it yet to know

    • Tampa, Fl,

My wife ordered me one to receive it on Father's Day and have not received it yet and it is now August 30th. They keep saying it is on backorder because of overwhelming demand. You would think they would have some more in stock by now. It should not take now going on over a month and counting. I am over it and do not want it anymore even if it came in tomorrow. Great way to do business. This company sucks.
