About TurboYourPC

TurboYourPC’s registry cleaning software automatically scans your computer for errors and damaged files, cleans them up, and helps your PC—and its programs—run faster.

TurboYourPC can also help find security weaknesses, tracking cookies, and malware that can give hackers access to your personal information. It can even fix a wide range of Windows and software-related issues. Simply:

  1. Download and install TurboYourPC.
  2. Allow the software to scan your computer.
  3. After scanning, you’ll be able to identify errors that are slowing down your PC.

This is why TurboYourPC claims to have helped more than 368,000 users get “a new computer without the price tag.”

You might use your computer to surf the web for only a few minutes each day. Or, maybe you depend on your PC, day in and day out, to run your business. In either instance, getting a new one without paying hundreds (or thousands) of dollars can seem tempting. Like a no-brainer, even.

To help you understand if this is what you can actually expect with TurboYourPC, we’ll first need to talk about the problem it’s supposed to solve.

What is a Computer Registry? How Do Errors Occur?

Without getting too technical, a registry is a type of database; a place on your PC’s hard drive where information is stored. What kind of information is stored in the registry?

According to Microsoft, your registry “contains important information about system hardware, installed programs and settings, and profiles of each of the user accounts on your computer. Windows continually refers to the information in the registry.” In layman’s terms, your computer’s registry is like the “base camp” for just about every function it performs.

It’s a big deal!

But over time, your PC’s registry can become filled with errors. This can be caused by dozens of factors, including improperly uninstalled applications, malware (viruses, Trojans, spyware, etc.), unnecessary files that use system resources, code degradation (also known as software rot), and more.

This is where registry scanners like TurboYourPC come in. They claim to quickly analyze your computer, locate damaged, malicious, or extraneous programs, and fix or delete them. Your computer will then run faster, stop freezing or displaying errors, and have more space available.

Is this what TurboYourPC really does?

Is TurboYourPC Legitimate Software?

It doesn’t appear to be. Why?

Safebro.com notes that TurboYourPC:

“…is a nasty rogue infection that works as a double agent. On a hand, it pretends to be a powerful system optimization and antivirus software that would fix your computer, but on other hand (in reality) it brings viruses to your computer and steals your money.”

Basically, regardless of how clean your computer really is, Safebro claims that TurboYourPC will always find an error or virus. After you’ve bought it (more about this shortly), it could corrupt your registry, collect your personal information, infect your computer with malicious programs, and make your computer operate slower.

In other words, the exact opposite of what it claims to do!

They’re not alone though, because Solvusoft, TomsHardware users, and many others feel the same way. Some have even called TurboYourPC an outright scam.

Whether you’re talking about TurboYourPC or another piece of software, does your computer even need registry scanning in the first place?

We’ll talk about this in a second, but let’s first take a look at something else that should raise a red flag: pricing.

Who Can Guess What TurboYourPC Costs?

TurboYourPC is only available for computers running Windows 8, 7, XP, & Vista (32 & 64 bit). They claim an OSX 10.5+ version is coming soon.

Downloading the TurboYourPC software is completely free. As we outline above though, it will definitely uncover errors (even if there aren’t any), and then request payment in order to fix them.

What you’ll pay for this seems to be anyone’s guess, though.

This is because there isn’t a price listed on the company’s website, although their Terms notes:

“Customers who have selected to pay on a 1 month subscription and will make their first payment when software or services is originally purchased for $8.95. Subsequent payments of the plan will be made One(1) month from the date of the original payment and will be made every month thereafter until the balance of the agreement has been paid at a full licence price of $297.49.”

What’s this mean? You’d be handing over money to TurboYourPC once per month for nearly 3 years!

On the other hand, Ukritic.com listed a recurring charge of $9.95 per month, while this long-form advertisement listed a one-time price of $37.95.

TurboYourPC does claim to offer a 30-day refund policy by calling 844-282-5997.

Do You Even Need a Registry Scanner In the First Place?

HowToGeek claimed that registry cleaners like TurboYourPC rarely work as advertised, and may actually cause more damage than they repair.

Even if they do work as advertised, the author noted that cleaning registry errors will likely have very little impact on your PC’s performance. And if you’re experiencing more severe problems (like freezing or the Blue Screen of Death), this likely has nothing to do with registry errors, and your PC should be evaluated by a professional.

For the most part, CNET forum users agreed with the recommendation to avoid registry cleaning software, as does Microsoft. They even noted that “in general, the registry is self-sufficient” and doesn’t need to be cleaned.

If you still feel that you need this kind of software, are there legitimate options out there?

Free Registry Scanning Software

If you have an internet connection at home, keep in mind that nearly all major internet service providers (ISPs) provide free lifetime licenses for top-notch registry scanning and anti-virus software for as long as you’re a customer. This includes Cox, Comcast, Charter, Verizon, and AT&T.

Even if your ISP doesn’t provide this kind of software, you can download a program called ComboFix for free, which will quickly and easily clean up everything. This is the exact type of software that GeekSquad will charge hundreds for!

Now, let’s wrap everything up.

Bottom Line: Should You Download TurboYourPC?

No matter which way we turn—online customer reviews, lack of pricing info, the general consensus among industry professionals, and more—TurboYourPC doesn’t seem like a good option for improving your PC’s performance. Based on what we’ve learned here, it might even make it worse.

Instead, if you’re experiencing a lag in loading, freezing, or otherwise poor performance, it’s unlikely to have anything to do with your registry. As such, we’d recommend getting a professional involved instead of downloading TurboYourPC.

    BEWARE

I tried TurboYourPC and agreed to the 7-day "trial period," which meant I had to pay $8.95 plus tax to clean my computer with their software. With the trial, if I wasn't satisfied with the software, I could cancel within the 7-day period and my credit card would not be charged. At least, that was what they claimed. However, when I tried to contact customer service via email (support@turboyourpc.com) my email was repeatedly "delayed/refused," so I have no idea if they received my cancelation request. I plan to contact my credit card company and ask them to watch for any charges from this software. I am also considering contacting the Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint.

To make matters worse, this "registry cleaning" software installed malware on my computer. Things got so messed up I had to take my computer to a professional computer tech to remove the malware and get my system working again. Their tagline "A New Computer Without The Price Tag" is a complete joke. While you may have to pay for a new computer, you may end up paying someone to fix the damage caused by this software.

Bottom line, avoid this software. There are much more reliable registry cleaners available. Choose one of those, but do your research before downloading/installing them. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

For past 2 years or so I have had a Windows update that kept failing to download. More recently, about last 12 months, I keep getting a message saying the persistence module has stopped working. I downloaded and paid a 2 year subscription for TurboYourPC in the hope that these problems would be fixed. No, didn't work. Still have the problems and my PC is slower than before. I am trying to get back on the site to ask for a refund. Have only had it for a couple of hours at most. I know there are a lot of good reviews out there, but based on my experience, I would not recommend it.

    Don't buy it - You'll regret it!

I have a NEW laptop that I was having a few problems with (Windows 10). I saw the ad and thought it might help since it was Microsoft authorized (I thought). What junk. It added even more things to my computer, did not help make it any faster, and I actually had more problems with it freezing up. I deleted it within a couple of weeks. I just noticed they charged me another monthly fee (I was not aware there would be any more charges besides the $8.95 fee), as well as some foreign fee for under a dollar! I emailed both customer service and billing and got an answer the next day from both. I have been canceled but now have to cancel PayPal or they will keep charging me. Only customer service advised me of this while the billing department never mentioned it. You will regret it if you purchase this software. It is nothing but trouble.

    Scam

    • Powder Springs, GA,
    • Feb 10, 2016

I found an advertisement on Facebook, clicked on it, and applied. Instead of withdrawing $8.95, they took out $13.38. After trying to put the activation number in four times with no results, I called and canceled the account, but when I went back to my account, I saw that they had taken out $9.22 more. The card was a prepaid bank card, and there was only $0.71 left, so canceled that card. Only reason I give those scum bags a one star rating is because that is as low as you can go.

I stupidly tried to download this. I say stupidly after reading these reviews. Luckily for me my anti-virus software tagged it as a malicious virus and stopped me, then got rid of it too.

    Scam

    • Oakville, Ontario, Canada,

$8.95 a month, for what? That is ridiculous. Run CCleaner, ADWCleaner, Superantispyware and MalwareBytes every week or 2. They are all free and very accurate in detecting things that should not be there. If you are a little more courageous, try Autoruns, it goes through your startup and Registry to delete broken and missing links.

    PC Cleaners

    • California,
    • Jan 30, 2016

TurboYourPC sounds like the same crap as PC Cleaner, and all those other "screw your computer up" softwares. I would only download it through my anti-virus, and see IF it gets caught. Any good program like Advanced System Care will keep your computer running fine. CCleaner is a better and fantastic software. Also, always download software from the product's home page, not from some rouge software site. I always catch bugs from them.

Does About As Much Good As Dumping A Bucket Of Water Onto Your Computer.

    • Jan 25, 2016

An article lured me into trying out this 'wondrous and magical' program that could improve my PC's health and speed. Oh, how mistaken I was. Stay away from this retched piece of an ".exe." Customer service? One email response out of 6 sent to them over the course of 4 days. Availability for calling customer support? Low, and when you do get a hold of them, no offense, you are greeted by a thick Indian accent and a gentleman that wants access to your files. HA! Not happening. Usefulness and effectiveness of the actual program? Zilch. The program probably spends forever scanning your files and installing shovel ware onto your computer, while digging through whatever sensitive info you may have stowed away. That, and the refund was a fiasco. They charge you multiple times, and the email you get after subscribing lists that Terms & Usage states that 'rates are susceptible to variances over the course of time'. Stay far, far away from this thing. The article I read MUST be some kind of joke, for this laughing stock of a program does little, save for slowing down your computer even more, like it did mine. Even now, I'm still sifting through my files, deleting the useless bits its carcass left behind. My PC was the equivalent of an middle aged man before downloading this, and now it's a man in his late 80's occasionally letting out a death rattle only to somehow come back to life after many prayers and bouts of cursing. Final verdict? Whoever thought up this sham deserves to be crushed by all of the computers they ruined.

    Rip off

    • Auatralia,
    • Jan 19, 2016

I recently purchased TurboYourPC for $8.95. However when I checked my bank statement, $12.76 was deducted. Also the same date another $18.52 had been deducted from my account. On contacting the company I was told: "it is a mistake, sorry."

I canceled my subscription & requested a confirmation email to that effect. I am still waiting for it to arrive. Beware this is nothing more than a scam. Your PC will be no different after you have run the initial scan, than it was before you downloaded it.

As for the $8.95 vs $12.76 difference, you can thank our terrible exchange rate for that, as it would've charged in USD.
