About Vyderal

If you want to boost your memory, increase your cognitive ability, improve your mood, and experience sustained energy, Vyderal claims to be the supplement for you. All you have to do is take 2 capsules with breakfast, and you’ll boost your focus, attention, mood, and energy—or what the company calls ‘FAME’.

Known as a nootropic (or a smart drug, memory enhancer, and more), Vyderal accomplishes this using a scientifically formulated blend of natural ingredients that “initiate and support metabolic and enzymatic processes.” As a result, you can expect clean energy and heightened mental focus for up to 8 hours, without any jitters.

And the more you take Vyderal, the better your results will be!

But what does all this mean? Is it possible to boost your cognitive abilities using a supplement? And if so, if Vyderal the best choice out there? You’ve got questions, and we’re here to help you find some answers.

First, let’s start by discussing the process of cognition.

What Does ‘Cognitive Ability’ Mean?

According to SharpBrains.com:

“Cognitive abilities are brain-based skills we need to carry out any task from the simplest to the most complex. They have more to do with the mechanisms of how we learn, remember, problem-solve, and pay attention rather than with any actual knowledge.”

Specifically, cognitive ability is made up of the following functions: perception, attention, memory, motor skills, language, visual and special processing, and executive functions (e.g. problem-solving, decision making, working memory, etc.). But not all cognitive abilities require the use of all these functions:

“For instance, answering the telephone involves at least: perception (hearing the ring tone), decision taking (answering or not), motor skill (lifting the receiver), language skills (talking and understanding language), social skills (interpreting tone of voice and interacting properly with another human being).”

Pretty straightforward, right? But is there a way to increase your cognitive abilities, other than the cards you’re dealt through genetics?

Is It Possible to Increase Your Cognitive Abilities?

Although there is a fair amount of debate within the scientific community, it’s generally thought that your IQ (intelligence) cannot be increased. On the other hand, by constantly working to improve the different underlying functions, such as working memory, it is possible to improve your cognitive ability.

Often times, this can be accomplished using specific “brain training” exercises found through companies like Posit Science and Lumosity. But Vyderal’s a supplement, not a brain training program, so can any of its ingredients do the same?

Will Vyderal’s Ingredients Boost Your Cognition?

Based on the product label on Vyderal’s website, the supplement contains the following ingredients:

Caffeine (also known as 1, 3, 7-Trimethylxanthine) is a chemical compound that will temporarily provide a boost in mental energy and focus. But caffeine is caffeine, regardless whether it’s sourced from kola but, green tea leaf, or anywhere else.

Similarly, Teacrine is a proprietary version of theacrine, which has been known to produce a caffeine-like effect when consumed. However, there isn’t enough clinical evidence showing it can provide any of the benefits claimed by Vyderal’s manufacturer.

In fact, other than vinpocetine, none of Vyderal’s ingredients have enough clinical evidence proving them to be effective. And even in the case of vinpocetine, 1) it only references diseases such as Alzheimer’s (not otherwise healthy patients), and 2) existing research is older and of questionable quality, so you might not experience the same.

Potential Vyderal Side Effects

Despite the fact that there’s zero evidence showing Vyderal’s ingredients will work as advertised, they should be safe for most users. If you experience anything at all, it probably won’t be more than mild digestive upset, although you should always talk with your doctor first.

Also, although Vyderal only contains about as much caffeine as half a cup of coffee, it might cause side effects such as jitteriness or restlessness if you’re sensitive to stimulants.

How much will you pay for Vyderal’s ingredients?

Is Vyderal Mind-Numbingly Expensive?

Vyderal is available in the following quantities:

  • 1 Bottle (60 capsules): $34.99
  • 2 Bottles: $59.99
  • 3 Bottles: $85.99

Regardless of how many bottles you purchase, Vyderal comes with a 90-day refund policy, less S&H charges.

Important note: Unlike many of the other brain health supplements we’ve reviewed (more about this next), you won’t have to send your bottle back to the company if you only purchased one. However, if you purchased 60 or 90-day supplies, it will need to be returned, although “partial refunds can be granted with no return required.”

In order to request a refund, you’ll need to email customer service at info@vyderal.com (no phone number was available).

What’s Everyone Saying About Vyderal?

Vyderal seemed to be a brand new product at the time of our research, so other than some potentially misleading affiliate sites, we didn’t come across any legitimate customer reviews. And other than the fact that MJAC Industries, LLC is based out of Houston, TX, there wasn’t any additional information available for Vyderal’s manufacturer, either.

The good news is that we’ve reviewed dozens of popular brain boosting supplements just like Vyderal, including Geniux, Neurofuse, Cogniflex, and many more (the Vyderal website even specifically compares the supplement to OptiMind).

And while these types of supplements tend to have very low online customer reputations (generally 2 stars or less), most complaints appear to revolve around business practices (e.g. poor customer service, difficulty cancelling trials/processing refunds) instead of the products themselves.

And when they do reference the supplements, the most common customer complaint is failure to work (whether as advertised, or at all). Will you experience the same with Vyderal?

With no online reviews yet, it’s difficult to say. It’s positive that the company doesn’t enroll you in any kind of recurring shipping program after your purchase, but based on the available clinical evidence, we have our doubts that you’ll experience any benefits.

Do We Think Vyderal Is “the Most Powerful Nootropic On the Market”?

Based on its ingredients formulation alone and the lack of clinical evidence surrounding them, we’d be wary about many of Vyderal’s claims. And when you compare it to the competition, many of which do contain clinically backed ingredients and are priced about the same, these other options might provide you more value for the money.

But, what do we think will give you the most bang for your buck? If you’re experiencing memory or other cognitive problems, make an appointment with your physician. They’ll be able to point you in the right direction, and can give you advice about any supplements you’re thinking about taking.
