About XPI OxyPump

Manufactured by XPI Supplements, XPI OxyPump claims to be a 100% pure, ultra-concentrated pre-workout complex that can maximize your focus, intensify and energize your workouts, improve your endurance, and “amplify your focus and performance.”

As an athlete, you know that your capabilities are only limited by what your body can accomplish, which is something that XPI OxyPump claims to address. But let’s find out what XPI OxyPump contains and what science has to say about its efficacy.

How XPI OxyPump Claims to Work

Using key vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids, XPI OxyPump is a pre-workout supplement that claims to enhance your intensity, strength, and power, and provide you with better workout results every time. On top of this, XPI OxyPump also claims to help cut the recovery process in half by reducing soreness, stiffness, fatigue, and pain.

In order to accomplish this, XPI OxyPump claims to include the following ingredients:

  • Vitamin B6 – May provide many benefits, including an increase in metabolic enzymes, improved protein synthesis, and increased energy.
  • Vitamin B12 – Can help improve oxygen and nutrient flow to your muscles, resulting in improved performance.
  • L-Arginine – May help increase lean muscle mass and strength, protect muscles from catabolic processes, and decrease muscle recovery time.
  • Creatine Monohydrate – May help increase lean muscle mass while also improving strength, endurance, and power.
  • DiCreatine Malate – Can improve ATP generation, which may boost strength and muscle mass.
  • Creatine Ethyl Ester – Features a unique molecular structure that allows the creatine to be absorbed by your body even faster.
  • Beta Alanine – May help improve endurance and strength.
  • Citrulline Malate – May help increase Nitric Oxide levels and allow more blood to flow to your muscles.

According to the XPI Supplements website, OxyPump is manufactured in a strictly controlled and inspected facility, and is safe and effective when used as directed.

In order to begin using XPI OxyPump, you’ll need to take it with 8-12 ounces of water before breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as just before bed in order to help aid in the recovery process. The company claims that most customers will see results within a few weeks.

Can XPI OxyPump Help Improve You Physical Performance?

When it comes down to it, can you expect XPI OxyPump to improve your performance and to increase your lean muscle mass? Maybe, but keep the following in mind:

Product Label

First, although the XPI Oxypump website provides a list of ingredients, it does not provide a product label. As such, we can’t be sure this if this represents all of the ingredients it contains, or the amount of each ingredient.

However, according to this website, XPI OxyPump contains 20mg of vitamin B6, 3,000mcg of vitamin B12, and 1,000mg of citrulline malate, while all other ingredients are part of a 5,245mg “proprietary blend.”

Ingredients & Clinical Proof

Next, keep in mind that XPI OxyPump itself has not been clinically tested, and the supplement’s website provides no clinical results to back up the company’s  claims. However, here’s what we learned about each of the supplement’s ingredients:

Vitamins B6 and B12 are known to play a key role in an individual’s cellular metabolism, and are widely considered essential supplements for bodybuilders, so it’s no surprise that XPI OxyPump includes them. In addition, beta alanine has been shown in “some clinical research…to improve some measures of physical performance, especially during high-intensity exercise and strength training. Beta-alanine supplements might also improve physical performance and delay muscle fatigue in older adults between 55 and 92 years of age.”

Likewise, creatine in all forms (monohydrate, malate, and ethyl ester) has been shown to be fairly effective for “improving the athletic performance of young, healthy people during brief, high-intensity exercise such as sprinting.”

On the other hand, L-Arginine may help patients with congestive heart failure or other types of chest pain improve their tolerance to exercise during recovery, but there is insufficient evidence showing that it increases muscle mass or improves physical performance for otherwise healthy individuals. In addition, citrulline malate “might not be effective for improving exercise performance. In one research test, L-citrulline did not improve performance on a treadmill. People who took L-citrulline actually became exhausted more quickly than people who did not take it.”

Customer Feedback

Next, although XPI OxyPump has been on the market at least since May 2013, there are very few online customer reviews for the supplement. However, those that are available seem to be primarily positive, with the most common complaints referencing poor taste and clumpy powder.

While looking for additional OxyPump customer reviews, we found that the supplement is manufactured by XPI Supplements based out of Orem, UT, who holds a D rating with the Better Business Bureau. However, their single online complaint references billing issues, and not anything related to the supplement itself.

Bottom line: Is This Right For You?

It’s a good sign that some—although not all—of the ingredients contained in XPI OxyPump have been shown to help improve muscle function, and in some instances to improve performance. However, the supplement itself has not been clinically shown to be effective, and there are very few online customer reviews to gauge overall satisfaction. As such, you’ll definitely want to speak with your physician beforehand.
