Claiming to be the first full unrestricted, multi-directional core enhancer, the AbDominator is a workout device that claims to be fun and easy to use for beginner and advanced users alike. They state that the product is able to help you burn fat while strengthening and toning muscles all over the body, with an emphasis on your core.

The makers of the product claim that it can actually target 11 different muscle groups, including the abdominals, trapezius, pectorals, latissimus dori, lower back, triceps, biceps, deltoids, forearms, hand grip, and gluteus max. They elaborate by saying that this is possible due to the devices ability to utilize your body’s full range of motion, targeting multiple areas at once.

The product features two main handles connected by a central rolling ball. On the website, we’re introduced to Michael Barney, the creator of the AbDominator, who says that the initial idea for the product was inspired by the roller balls used in older computer mice. He claims that it can be used just about anywhere, from the home to the office, carpets to hardwoods.

In the commercial, we’re told that for just minutes a day, you can achieve the trim, sexy waistline you’ve always wanted–without going to the gym. Is this really what you can expect from the AbDominator? In order to answer this question, we’ll need to take a closer look at how it works in practice, but before that, let’s briefly explore what it really takes to get those rock-solid abs from a scientific standpoint.

What Building Abs Really Looks Like

If you’re on the hunt for the six-pack, know that you aren’t alone; thousands of other individuals just like you are also trying to hone in on the core and build those important muscles, and targeted exercises (like the ones you’d potentially do with the AbDominator) are absolutely a crucial component on this process.

That said, you have heard the saying “abs are made in the kitchen” before, and as it turns out, this seems to largely be the case. WebMD and other sources such as Bodybuilding.com and the New York Times all report that managing (and reducing in many cases) your caloric intake is one of, if not the most important aspects of revealing those hardened abdominals that you’ve been training for.

In practical terms, while the AbDominator may indeed be an effective way to work out your core muscles (more on this in a moment), it’s vital to have realistic expectations of what a machine like this can–and can’t–do for you in the long run.

Mensfitness.com and bodybuilding.com report that eating plenty of protein, healthy fats, and drinking a good amount of water can all help to reveal these muscles, while cutting down excess carbs, sugars and other fats can help to reduce the amount of fats stored by your body in the abdominal region over time.

To their credit, the makers of the AbDominator do include a nutrition guide by Chris Johnson with the product, but without testing it out for ourselves, it will be difficult to evaluate how effective you can expect it to be. Based on what we are shown, however, does it stand a chance of delivering?

Can the AbDominator Really Deliver Professional Results at Home?

In the commercial, we’re shown actors using the AbDominator in a variety of ways, from a simple push-up position to complicated S-curves and other maneuvers made possible by the device’s unique, rolling ball design. Whether or not these movements actually translate to more effective results is, again, not something we can comment on without testing the product out firsthand, but the potential is there.

Even if you were to just use the product as a way to achieve solid push-up form, we could still envision it being a valuable–if not 100 percent vital training tool for those looking to amplify their core strength and tone, or for anyone looking to get in better shape in general. When used in conjunction with a carefully manages diet, we’re confident that the product could help you achieve your six-pack goals, with enough time.

AbDominator Pricing & Return Policy

As of this writing, the AbDominator appeared to be available both from the manufacturer online and on Amazon. It’ll cost you $39.99 from both sources, though shipping is free with Amazon, whereas it’ll cost you an additional $9.00 through the makers own website. That said, the manufacturer also offers a two-payment option for $19.99 each.

Through either outlet, you’ll be receiving the following alongside your purchase:

  • 1x AbDominator
  • 1x Nutrition Book by Chris Johnson
  • 1x Access to online video workouts

Finally, though the manufacturer’s website, you’ll also receive a free rally towel. For every purchase of the device, the company states that they donate a dollar to A World Fit For Kids, a charity organization based in Los Angeles, California.

As for the return policy, the terms and conditions listed on the website state that all orders come with a no-questions-asked 30-day guarantee. You’ll be responsible for shipping the device back to them for processing, including paying any shipping fees to do so.

AbDominator vs. Similar Rolling Core Enhancers

There are hundreds of different workout enhancers available on the market today, but what about roller products geared specifically towards the core region, like the AbDominator? As it turns out, there are many of these also, though with some differences that are worth noting.

With so many of these potential products to choose from, how are you supposed to settle on the one that’s right for you? Based on our previous experience covering devices like this, we’ve found that it’s helpful to decide which features may be most important to you in order to steer you in the right direction.

For instance, as mentioned in the product’s commercial, there are a number of more conventional, one-way ab rolling devices available today, such as the Elite Sportz Ab Wheel and the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro, two highly-rated products on Amazon. Though the AbDominator commercial shows a single, thin wheel product being used, these both include wider (or multiple) wheels for additional stability.

Looking at these products from a high-level standpoint, we’d imagine that all of them will enable you to perform a simple, front to back sit-up exercise with relative ease. However, the roller ball found on the product at hand could potentially enable it to help you work out multiple muscle groups at once, seeing as you’ll need to balance and stabilize yourself as you use it.

On the other hand, if all you’re looking for is the ability to develop your core, the additional stability and ease of use that comes from a more conventional product may be ideal for you. To drive this point home, both of the products mentioned above feature thousands of customer reviews on Amazon detailing their effectiveness. Both are also cheaper than the AbDominator, at $16.97 and $29.99, respectively.

Ultimately, your choice will likely come down to how much granularity of control you’re looking for in a rolling abdominal device like this. If you want the extra challenge and versatility, the AbDominator may fit the bill; if you’re looking for the basics, a cheaper, single-direction product will probably be right for you.

The Bottom Line: Is the AbDominator Effective?

Based on all of the above, can you truly expect the AbDominator to deliver on its claims of providing professional results in the comfort of your own home? In our opinion, the answer is yes, with some caveats that need to be mentioned.

As we learned above, while exercise is a critical component of building a rock-solid core, your diet is just as important, if not more important when it comes to making this desire a reality. As long as you keep this in mind, both the AbDominator and products similar to it can certainly be viewed as beneficial toward your overarching goals.

Ultimately, it’ll be up to you to decide which product fits your needs most closely. If the additional challenge and versatility of the AbDominator wins out for you in the end, be sure to keep the 30-day return policy in mind going into your purchase. If you find that it doesn’t live up to your expectations, you’ll be able to return it to try something else, as long as our okay with potentially losing out in some shipping fees in the process.
