About Adafinil Rx

Here’s what the manufacturer claims: Adafinil Rx is a 100% natural, scientifically proven supplement that enhances neurotransmitters in the brain. As a result, you can expect to experience intense focus, enhanced memory, boosted concentration, and increased energy.

Or, as the company puts it, Adafinil Rx is “Viagra for the brain” that provides “extreme IQ effects.” Just pop a capsule, and you’ll feel the full effects within 30 minutes.

This is why Adafinil Rx has more than 100,000 satisfied customers to date!

Here’s what we think you can really expect: At best, we think you’ll only experience mild benefits using Adafinil Rx. At worst, you won’t experience anything at all, feel like you paid too much, and experience purposely poor customer service.

Why do we think this is the case? And what evidence do we have to support it? That’s exactly what we’ll cover here.

To get full grasp of the situation, let’s start by talking about IQ.

What Does IQ Mean?

An intelligence quotient (or IQ for short) is “a score derived from one of several standardized tests designed to assess human intelligence.” Popular IQ tests include the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Stanford–Binet Intelligence Scales, and the Woodcock–Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities.

IQ scores can range anywhere between 70 and 130+, with the average score (matching about 51 percent of the population) falling between 90 and 110. Although there is a margin of error of about 3%, IQ tests are known to have “high statistical reliability” (e.g. they’re pretty accurate).

But can you increase your IQ? This is a simple question with an extremely complex answer. But to sum it up, the answer is yes and no.

Can Your IQ Be Increased?

During childhood, as your brain grows and develops, it’s well understood that your IQ can increase over a relatively short period of time. However, as we enter adulthood, our IQ scores tend to even out. On top of this, your score can change depending on the specific IQ test you’re taking (they all measure slightly different things), as well as the type of intelligence you’re measuring. LiveScience puts it this way:

“[It’s] important to distinguish between at least three different meanings of the word intelligence. There is biological intelligence, or what is typically defined as neural efficiency. Then there's psychometric intelligence – your measured IQ score – which is an indirect and imperfect method of estimating biological intelligence.

Can you increase biological intelligence? Research during the past decade using various neurotechnologies (aka, brain fitness programs) has suggested that it is possible to fine-tune your neural efficiency, or mental horsepower. Your cognitive functions can be made to work more efficiently and in a more synchronized manner.

So can you change your IQ score? Individuals can change IQ scores. Your score may change not because of any real change in general intelligence, but that different tests may be used which measure different mixtures of abilities.

Also, some abilities (e.g., fluid reasoning and crystallized intelligence, or verbal abilities) are more stable over time, while others are less stable (e.g., short-term memory and cognitive processing speed).”

Given this, is there anything found in Adafinil that can actually increase your IQ?

Will Adafinil Rx’s Ingredients Boost Your Brainpower?

Here’s what we’re told Adafinil Rx contains:

Bacopa might be effective for improving some measure of memory, although existing research was only performed on two specific proprietary extracts. L-tyrosine could provide some boost to memory and mental performance too, but only related to stressful situations, such as military training.

Huperzine A is listed as “possibly effective” for improving memory in Alzheimer’s patients as well as otherwise healthy individuals. Vinpocetine may also provide some benefit for Alzheimer’s patients, but existing research is fairly old and of questionable quality.

Outside of these though, there isn’t enough clinical evidence to prove that any of Adafinil Rx’s other ingredients will provide any results. And even for the ingredients that might work, what you’ll experience will almost certainly be less substantial than the manufacturer makes it seem.

But here’s what’s really important: Adafinil Rx’s manufacturer doesn’t think it’s important to provide a label, so there’s no way to know exactly how much the supplement contains. For example, to experience any benefits at all, you need:

  • 60-200mcg per day of huperzine A
  • 15-30mg daily for vinpocetine

How much does Adafinil Rx contain? We’re simply not told.

What Side Effects Can You Expect with Adafinil Rx?

Even though they probably won’t work as well as the company makes it seem (and certainly not within 30 minutes), most of Adafinil Rx’s would be considered safe. You’ll still want to talk with your doctor before taking any, though.

However, in rare cases, alpha-gpc can cause insomnia, dizziness, skin rash, and confusion. Huperzine A can also lead to “sweating, blurred vision, slurred speech, restlessness, loss of appetite, and more.”

We’ve talked a lot about Adafinil Rx’s manufacturer up to this point. But what do we really know about them?

Who Makes Adafinil Rx?

In short, we simply don’t know. There isn’t a company name listed anywhere on the Adafinil Rx website (whether in the Terms or Privacy Policy), and searching for the company’s phone number only returns affiliate websites for the supplement.

Interestingly, there was a video on their website advertising a completely unrelated anti-aging product named Rejuvalux-RX, although online searches for this only returned more affiliate sites.

All is not lost, though, because we’ve reviewed many of the most popular brain boosting supplements here at HighYa, including Evo Brain Pill, Neuroflexyn, Neurofuse, and more—many of which feature the exact same ingredients as Adafinil Rx. What’s the verdict?

Not good. Overall, these products had an average rating of 2 stars (i.e. walk away) at the time of our research, based on complaints of failure to work, high prices, and poor customer service (usually problems requesting refunds or stopping automatic shipments).

The good news is that it doesn’t appear you’ll have to worry about unwanted recurring shipments with Adafinil Rx. But is it a good value?

Let’s bring it home, shall we?

Does Adafinil Rx Really Have “Bloggers & Media Buzzing”?

Despite all the marketing hype, and all the effort the company puts into convincing you that this is something revolutionary, the reality is that Adafinil Rx doesn’t appear to be any different that the dozens of other brain supplements we’ve reviewed.

And as we outlined in The Truth About Memory Supplements, there is essentially zero evidence showing that these kinds of supplements can provide real-world benefits.

When it comes to Adafinil Rx, not only do we think you’ll be putting an unknown substance (from an unknown company) in your body, we don’t think it’ll do anything to increase your IQ. In fact, as we learned above, this is something that’s impossible with a supplement.

Instead, we think you’d probably get much more bang-for-your-buck by signing up for brain training software like Lumosity or Posit Science.
