If you’re a man over 30 years of age, you know that it’s not fun watching your testosterone decrease each year that goes by, which is where Adaptophen comes in. This all-natural dietary supplement claims to help increase free testosterone levels within your body, and to provide you with increased lean muscle mass, a boosted metabolism, increased libido, and more.
But can Adaptophen really help you feel younger and more vigorous? We did some heavy lifting to find out.
Quick Facts About Adaptophen
According to the Adaptophen website, a man’s testosterone levels gradually begin falling after the age of 30, which can lead to increased fatigue, decreased muscle mass, reduced libido, and more. As such, Adaptophen claims to be a scientifically developed, clinically supported dietary supplement that can increase your free testosterone levels, and can help combat age-related testosterone loss. In fact, the company claims that you can experience visible results in as little as 28 days.
Adaptophen also claims to be specifically formulated to fill the gap between high calorie protein powders and harmful anabolic steroids. As such, its natural ingredients include:
- Tribulus Terrestris – A Mediterranean plant that produces a fruit that may help enhance athletic performance and infertility.
- Tongkat Ali Root Extract – A tree native to Indonesia and Malaysia that may increase free testosterone levels.
- Siberian Rhodiola Rosea – Contains high levels of rosavin, which may help increase muscle mass, improve strength, and more.
- Deer Antler Velvet – May increase IGF-1 hormone levels, which may help increase muscle mass and improve recovery time from exercise.
- 5-Methyl-7-Methoxy-Isoflavone – May increase muscle tissue mass.
- ZMA – May increase free testosterone and strength levels.
- Alpha Lipoic Acid – An antioxidant that has been shown to treat diabetes-related nerve pain.
- Octacosanol – May help improve athletic performance.
- Vitamin B6 – An essential nutrient for healthy brain and cell function.
- Zinc – An essential trace element that supports healthy food absorption.
- Magnesium – Can help improve regularity.
In order to begin using Adaptophen, you should take one capsule at breakfast and another at lunch.

What Do Other Consumers Have to Say About Adaptophen?
Adaptophen is manufactured by Applied Nutritional Research (ANR), LLC based out of Westminster, CO, and holds a C+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Of their 13 closed complaints, most appear to reference products that don’t work, poor customer service, and difficulty processing a refund.
Despite the fact that the product’s URL was registered in February 2013, legitimate (e.g. non-affiliate) online customer reviews regarding Adaptophen are few and far between. However, those currently available were generally negative and cited failure to provide any results. In fact, we read a couple reviews where customers claimed that they never received their products, and were unable to reach someone at the company to resolve the situation.
What’s the Bottom Line About Adaptophen?
The truth is that the nutritional supplements market is already flooded with testosterone boosters similar to Adaptophen, including Testofuel, Ageless Male, and LJ Ultra. While each of these products use different formulations, they all claim to be scientifically proven, but is this really the case?
The short answer: No. In fact, other than Vitamin B6, Zinc, and Magnesium, none of the ingredients contained in Adaptophen have been sufficiently shown to provide any benefits, especially those related to increased testosterone production, boosted libido, increased muscle mass, or anything else. In fact, even among the ingredients that do provide benefits, WebMD claims that zinc should not be taken as a regular supplement.
While it’s positive that Adaptophen doesn’t come with any kind of autoship program, the reality is that the actual benefits it provides are likely far out of line with its high price. For more tips, be sure to take a look at our Complete Guide to Buying a Nutritional Supplement.
Finally, despite listing its ingredients, the Adaptophen website does not provide a product label, which is especially disconcerting considering this is something you’ll be putting in your body.
In short, based on the poor company reputation, lack of customer reviews, high price, and lack of clinical support, we would recommend staying away from Adaptophen.

Not enough bang for the buck
I purchased the four bottle deal from adaptophen when it first hit the market and they were pushing the product really hard stating that it would be taken off the market soon due to its anabolic effects. I took it every day until the amount I purchased was depleted. I noticed a slight elevation in my libido however the claims they make regarding muscle production was definitely not the case. I experienced no growth and no change in mass. The only thing that I noticed is my urine was stronger smelling from it. I'm guessing that had more to do with the vitamin load in the product. In short you could probably get more results off of over the counter vitamins than I did with this product.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
