About Ageless Female
Ageless Female claims to be a “breakthrough, one-of-a-kind” dietary supplement that can help women “sail through menopause.” How?
The company promises that Ageless Female’s natural, clinically tested ingredients can reduce hot flashes by 50%, relieve night sweats, calm nerves and mood fluctuations, alleviate sleeplessness, and diminish vaginal dryness after 4 weeks of continuous use. They can even help maintain bone density by activating “bone building” cells!
All you have to do is take 2 capsules of Ageless Female daily (preferably one in the morning and another in the evening) for at least 90 days, and you’ll be able to find relief, regardless of the menopause phase you’re experiencing—without any known adverse side effects.
Some women seem to go through menopause with nary a symptom, while others might find it all but debilitating. If you find yourself aligned with the latter, how well can you expect Ageless Female to work? Will it provide a solid value? Are there better options?
When it comes to Ageless Female, you have a lot of questions. The good news is that you’ve come to the right place, because we’re here to help you find some answers.
What Causes Menopause? Is It Serious?
Menopause is a perfectly natural process that any woman will go through at some point in their life, usually after the age of 40, involving three stages:
- Perimenopause – During this phase, a woman’s ovaries will gradually produce less estrogen, which can last several years.
- Menopause – Once a woman’s ovaries stop producing estrogen and releasing eggs, and it’s been at least a year since menstruating, she has formally entered menopause. Although similar symptoms can be experienced during perimenopause, menopause is generally when hot flashes, mood swings, and other side effects can occur.
- Postmenopause – As the name implies, this stage is after menopause had ended, which usually also stops the related side effects.
As mentioned, menopause is a natural process, although there are some medical concerns to be aware of. This includes an increased risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, weakened muscle power and tone, and more, which is why it’s ultra-important to speak with your doctor if you’re of age and experiencing menopause-like symptoms.
What about Ageless Female? Can its ingredients do anything to ease some of menopause’s side effects?
Are Ageless Female’s Ingredients Effective for Menopause?
According to their supplement label, Ageless Female contains the following ingredients:
- Vitamin D3 2,000IU
- Potassium 100mg
- Black Cohosh Root Extract 40mg
- Milk Basic Protein Fraction 40mg
- Chaste Tree Berry Extract 40mg
WebMD states that vitamin D (not D3, specifically) may help treat “low blood calcium levels due to low parathyroid hormone levels” (commonly caused by estrogen loss during menopause), as well as softening of the bones.
They also note that the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for vitamin D is 600IU for most of the population. Even when treating specific conditions like those notes above, the upper limit only reaches 1,500IU per day, while Ageless Female provides nearly 2,000 IU. We’ll come back to this point in a second.
Potassium may help reduce high blood pressure (another common symptom associated with menopause), although the recommended dose for treating high blood pressure is 1.5g to 3.5g daily. Ageless Female contains a fraction of this amount.
There is some clinical evidence showing that black cohosh may be effective for reducing some menopausal symptoms; specifically, hot flashes. However, most of the evidence stems from one specific supplement (which isn’t Ageless Female), and some studies haven’t mirrored these same benefits.
Milk basic protein fraction has limited evidence showing that it may help prevent and treat osteoporosis, although it seems to be far from “proven.” Furthermore, there’s no RDA for MBPF, or a way to know if Ageless Female contains enough to work.
Lastly, chaste tree berry may be effective for treating some symptoms of PMS, including “breast pain or tenderness (mastalgia), constipation, irritability, depressed mood or mood alterations, anger, and headache,” but not bloating.
Taken together, it seems that:
- Ageless Female’s ingredients are most effective for bone-related menopausal issues.
- The supplement has far more than the RDA for vitamin D3, but far too little potassium.
- Black cohosh and milk basic protein have limited evidence showing their efficacy.
Potential Ageless Female Side Effects
Again referencing WebMD, “Some side effects of taking too much vitamin D include weakness, fatigue, sleepiness, headache, loss of appetite, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, and others.” Sensitive individuals might be especially prone to this, since Ageless Female contains 25% more than the recommended daily allowance.
As the name might lead you to believe milk basic protein contains a milk derived ingredient, which might be especially pertinent if you’re lactose intolerant. To address this concern, the company notes:
“The amount of lactose present in a day’s supply of Ageless Female is .0004% of only one milligram. For a comparison, just 1 ounce of milk contains about 1,276 mg of lactose. So for all intents and purposes, Ageless Female is virtually lactose-free. However, if you have any concerns, please consult with your doctor prior to taking the supplement.”
Finally, uncommon chaste tree berry side effects include itching, rash, acne, and more.
How Much Does Ageless Female Cost?
One bottle (30-day supply) of Ageless Female will cost you an introductory price of $19.99 plus $6.99 S&H.
Then, 30-days after your original order, you’ll be enrolled in Ageless Female’s “exclusive preferred” membership program (read: autoship program), which will continue sending you a new bottle once per month. You’ll be charged $39.95 plus $6.95 S&H each time.
All Ageless Female purchases come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. In order to request one, you’ll need to call customer service at 888-207-6183 or 888-261-1374.
Ageless Female’s Arbitration
Any purchase on the Ageless Female website is automatically bound to an arbitration agreement. In the event you have a legal concern, this means you’d have to settle it through private binding arbitration, instead of through the court system.
Why is this important? Because you’re waiving a lot of your legal rights—not to mention the fact that arbitration tends to favor companies instead of individuals.
Speaking of individuals, what do Ageless Female’s customers have to say?
Are There Any Online Reviews for Ageless Female?
Although the name Ageless Female was trademarked in 2012, the manufacturer claims the supplement has only recently been made available to the public. Just who is this company?
Ageless Female is manufactured by NAC Marketing Company, LLC (aka New Vitality), based out of Farmingdale, NY. In addition to Ageless Female, the company makes several other popular supplements, including Ageless Male, Trim Factor, FemiPro, Provanta Plus, and more.
As a company, New Vitality had a B+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, based on 58 closed complaints (as of 5/18/16). Most of these seemed to reference problems with free trials and recurring shipments, while most complaints regarding their products referenced failure to work.
Now, keep in mind that we’re not saying this is what you’ll experience with Ageless Female; only that it’s something worth keeping in mind.
Who is Professor Gene Bruno?
According to the Ageless Female FAQ, the supplement was developed by Professor Gene Bruno, an “anti-aging specialist and nutraceutical expert,” who also founded Nutraceutical Sciences at Huntington College of Health Sciences.
As the institution’s name implies, Huntington College of Health Sciences is an accredited online university that offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs focused on “integrative nutrition and health science.” Based on some of their ideas being outside the scientific mainstream, Quackwatch features the school on their Questionable Organizations list.
Important note: We’re not necessarily agreeing with Quackwatch; we’re only passing along the information.
According to his website, Gene Bruno holds a doctorate degree in Oriental Medicine, is nationally certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture, and is licensed in acupuncture by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners.
Will Ageless Female Help You “Sail Through Menopause”?
Search online for “menopause supplement” and you’ll instantly have thousands of options in front of you. How are they different than Ageless Female? They probably won’t have the same ingredients formulation. How are they similar? Despite their (sometimes vastly) different list of ingredients, they pretty much all claim to provide relief from the same menopause symptoms.
The catch is that, as nutritional supplements, very few companies provide evidence to back up their claims. And in general, if they worked as well as they claimed, they’d almost certainly be classified as drugs instead of supplements.
However, we have to say that Ageless Female’s ingredients (note: not the supplement itself) seem to have more clinical evidence than many others in the same genre, although most of it seems related to bone density. Does this mean it’ll actually work? Considering the dosing concerns and limited evidence we already discussed, this remains to be seen.
If you feel like giving Ageless Female a try, it appears the company stands behind it with a 30-day refund policy—you’ll just be a few bucks in S&H. Just remember that you’ll automatically be signed up for New Vitality’s subscription plan, so be sure to cancel if you find out it’s not for you.
